Welcome to the planet Zarkain, a world ravaged by war between two species that believe this world belongs to them and them only. These two races are the thorons and humans.

The thorons are a race of reptilian people who once thrived below land. But upon discovering that there is life beyond the rock sky, they moved above ground. Powerful and intelligent, they managed to survive long enough against the monsters of the above world to create a fortified city they call Kar' Keroln. From this city, the thorons began to spread out in small villages. Soon, though, they found they weren't the only intelligent race to exist on this world.

Humans aren't known for being the most powerful species to exist, but they are highly intelligent and curious. And it is thanks to their intelligence that they managed to survive against the creatures that dwelled around them. After pushing back the wyverons and goblorns, less intelligent but still deadly beings, the humans began to set up other cities.  They eventually collided with the quickly growing thoron empire.

The two leaders of the species decided they could not let this other race exist on a land that they thought rightfully belonged to them and war erupted between them. As the war raged on for decades, they failed to notice the signs of something stirring among the creatures of the planet. They failed to notice that there was a third faction rising to power.

Rules:

1.       Usual RP rules.

2.       No God moding. The Brutegas are watching...

3.       Follow rule 2.

4.       No monster pets. No you cannot have a terrastrodon follow you around like a dog.

5.       Don't force the monsters OOC. If basileon attacks you, have all the goblorns flee. Dont have a terrastrodon or thundrogon attack for no reason.

6.       Don't throw in your own monster without running it by me first. Though I think we've got enough to make it through the RP for a while.

7.       Medieval age weapons only. This means there will only be swords, shields, spears, etc...

IMPORTANT! Please read before joining:

1.       The Brutegas. DO NOT CONTROL! Leave them be! When one shows up near your character, LEAVE IT AS IS!

2.       Thorons. Not actually that much stronger than humans. Better at climbing and definitely faster, but if you're playing a thoron, you will not be able to solo an enemy that a single human struggled with.

3.       Languages. To keep things simple, everyone, with the exception of the wyverons, speaks English. Look at the creature list for information on how the wyverons communicate.

4.       Terrastrodons. TBA

5.       Basileons mysterious ally. TBA

6.       Goblorns. They aren't many, so don't have your character continuously find groups of them. Stick with mostly wyverons for now.

7.       Gor' Zeels. Currently unplayable. Maybe I'll let people play as them later, but for now we stick to humans and thorons. So don't ask if you can play one.

8.       Plot Goals. Keep an eye on them, they may change. Dont worry about the optional ones. I'm just putting them there for fun and to help give ideas of what to do if you get stuck.

9.       Magical rule number 9. Confused, just ask. I came up with the stuff, I know how everything works.

Creature List:

This will be updated as the RP progresses. Previous entries will be edited with new information as more discoveries are made. There will also be a few new entries added in later on.

Humans: Do I really need to describe them? (Note: Ruled by a king, capital city named Inglade )

Thorons: A race of humanoid-reptillian beings whos scales vary in shades of dark green, gray, black, white, and brown. Capable of reaching seven feet, these guys are not only smart but strong and fast too. Out in the wilds, they are at an advantage against humans but still struggle against most monsters. (Note: They do NOT have tails; ruled by an emperor, wear armor similar to those used by ancient romans. Are very similar in appearance to the Elites from Halo, except they have claws and don't have mandibles, they're just built the same.)

Wyverons: Semi-intelligent winged reptilian warriors who move in packs. They're smart enough to build their own weapons and armor, but that's about it. They can come in a variety of colors and are vicious warriors that will fight to the bitter end. The fact that wyverons aren't intelligent enough to tell spear butt from spear head yet can ban together and launch a semi well-coordinated attack against either the humans or thorons suggests that something of higher intelligence may be ordering them around. (Note: Can speak broken English, but usually rely on their own language to communicate)

Goblorns: With about as much brain power as the wyverons, these guys aren't much of a problem to most soldiers. But lowering your guard against these bat headed goblin creatures could get a spear in your gut. Before the war, it was quite common to see these dark furred beings lumbering around in small groups searching for prey. But after the war began, they seemed to disappear. It's currently unknown if the humans, thorons, wyverons, or perhaps a combination of the three put a serious dent in their population count. (Note: Flee when a basileon is near)

Basileons: Giant emerald green snakes whose skull appears to be protruding through their thick scaled head. Upon appearing, they herd soldiers away from their units. It is assumed that the soldiers are eaten, but researchers are curious as to why the serpents don't just devour them on the spot. They are large enough to swallow ten men whole and still move around quite well. (Note: TBA)

Tygeel: Amphibious monsters that are seen only near deep water. They can be found either resting on the shores or fishing underwater. Highly aggressive, it's recommended to avoid them completely. Fortunately, on land, they aren't too difficult to kill. They will attack in groups but if enough of their number is slain, the remaining tygeels will flee and glare at you from the water. (Note: even though they lack hind legs, they are still quick and have razor sharp talons on their front paws. It has been reported that these claws can catch and tear chain mail apart like paper.)

Terrastrodons: Massive land based reptilian creatures that should just be ignored if spotted. Terrastrodons never attack unless provoked. With their large plated scales and sharp fangs, it's best to avoid picking a fight with them. Most of the time, these elephant sized lizards are sleeping. (Note: Color varies on location; currently you will only see emerald green terrastrodons. Their manes will be an olive green.)

Thundrogons: Just like the terrastrodons, its best to ignore these beasts if you see one. They are commonly seen fishing in shallow lakes or rivers. Their massive legs and feet help hold them in place against the current as they strike quickly with their long necks at passing fish. If spotted by one, avoid eye contact and give plenty of space. They don't normally chase after soldiers but will if they feel threatened. (Note: Flee when a brutega is near)

Brutegas: The gods of death. Brutegas are feared by everything, yet nothing has seen them. There have been several occasions of wyverons babbling about the "Ghost Tyrant", the wyveron's name for these terrible monstrosities, yet soldiers have never been able to find out what a "Ghost Tyrant" is... Until one burst through the walls of Inglade. (Note: TBA, avoid like the plague.)

In' Fengs: Three-eyed tigers. Don't really need to say anything else about them 'cept they've got three eyes. (Note: TBA)

Gor' Zeel Major: Often seen with Gor' Zeel minors, these big, eyeless, brutes have the appearance of being unkillable. They can keep moving even after being impaled on a spear or gutted by a sword. Some claim these demons can even reattach their heads after they have been severed. Gor' Zeel majors have the same pale pinkish skin as the minors, but move around on all fours and have odd patches of fur all over their body. Their ears are large and their nose is similar in appearance to a pigs. (Note: Burn slowly in sunlight)

Gor' Zeel Minor: Odd human like creatures that are hardly ever seen during the day. These pale, beings seem even less intelligent than wyverons but will swarm groups of soldiers and overwhelm them with fear. They feed on meat and seem to prefer human flesh over everything else. Where these demonic creatures came from remains a mystery. (Note: Light causes them pain, but will not fatally wound them.)

Gor' Zeel Lord: TBA

Wyveron Elite: Wingless wyverons who wear thicker scales shed from a much larger and more terrifying beast like armor. Far more intelligent than their winged cousins, wyveron elites lead regular wyverons in battle but hang back for some reason. The elites will issue orders and watch the wyverons fight while barely supressing the urge to jump into the fray themselves. Even the most skilled warriors for both humans and thorons struggle greatly against these larger wyverons.

Character List: (NPCs)

Seiryuu: Leader of the Broken Horn Tribe of wyverons. A wyveron elite who has much experience fighting an enemy known as the Gor' Zeels. He keeps to himself so not much else is known about him. Seiryuu is a dark blue in color while the scale armor is a sky blue. His preffered weapon is a spear.

Sardonix: TBA

Emperor Vetorix: The current emperor of the thorons. Dark grey in color and covered in old scars, he was a skilled warrior who fought his way up the ranks before becoming the emperor. But just because he hasn't been on the battlefield in years doesn't mean his combat skills have deteriorated. He can always be found sparring against younger soldiers, teaching them how to be as skilled as he is.

Empress Sarvail: Wife of Emperor Vetorix, Sarvail is also adept at combat though she took a different role in the war than her husband. Sarvail is a well-trained assassin. Swift, silent, and near invisible at night thanks to her jet black scales, Sarvail has killed every single one of her targets save one, King Wayne. Just before reaching the human capital, Inglade, news of the king's fall to a wyveron came to her through an exhausted, battle scarred soldier. A soldier she would later marry and rule the thoron empire with.

Prince Darulyx: The son of Sarvail and Vetorix, Darulyx has been trained since he could barely walk how to fight, kill, and survive. On the battlefield, he is cold and merciless. A killing machine that doesn't stop fighting until every enemy is dead. But in between battles, he's a bit of a clown, teasing his comrades and poking fun at the older warriors. Many overlook this side of him due to his amazing fighting abilities. His scales are lighter in color than his fathers, but he has an odd black splotch on the back of his neck, almost as if someone had spilled a jar of ink there.

Zeryk: TBA

Gehr: TBA

Galu' Keron: A great bat like creature who has recently been spotted several times by soldiers during sunrise. Where or why this beast has suddenly appeared reamin a mystery to all. But it seems he might have a connection with the wyverons since they cheer upon seeing the bat's snow white body and dark colored wings cutting across the sky.

Gen' Koro: TBA

King Jaed: The current king of the humans. Jaed inherited the throne at a young age after an unusually powerful wyveron killed his father. Having been raised in a well-protected castle in the heart of a thriving city and his father always being busy slaying thorons, wyverons, and other creatures, Jaed had never been properly taught how to fight. After his father, King Wayne, died, he demanded the captain of the King's Royal Guard train him to be the strongest warrior. Although many years have passed since that day, he still has not found the wyveron. He also knows that if it were to come down to a duel between him and Vetorix, he would surely lose.

Queen Karen: Jaed's mother, Karen lost all hope of winning the war against the thorons after her husband died. But, upon seeing her son training hard to avenge the king, she began to help him, teaching him how to order his troops and run the empire. Now older and happier, she waits patiently for her son to bring her the head of the wyveron and proof that the thorons have lost the war.

Raider Bayn: Captain of the King's Royal Guard and good friend and trainer of King Jaed, Raider is an old warrior he sometimes wishes he had retired. A promise to his old friend, King Wayne, is all that keeps him from moving to a quiet village far from the war and bloodshed. With his graying beard and scarred face, Raider stands by the young king's side, giving him helpful suggestions and making sure he knows how to protect himself in case something were to happen to the old man.

Character List: (Players)

Username: Dragonstar

Character Name: Devon Nichols

Species: Human

Description: A 16 year old rookie who just joined up in the military. Devon is a skinny kid who stands around 5 feet with brown eyes and hair.

Personality: With nowhere else to go, Devon was recruited into the army almost exactly when he turned 16. Not known for his physical strength, Devon struggled while training with the other recruits and barely graduated from the training academy. Many senior officers commented on how he would either be the first to die or first to run. Devon struggles keeping a steady grip on a sword and is constantly apologizing to his superior officers and comrades.

Background: Devon barely remembers the village he was born in. All he knows is that it was attacked by goblorns and almost everyone, including his parents was killed. Soldiers from the capital sent to search for survivors took him and a few others back with them to Inglade. Devon spent thirteen years in an orphanage before being dragged into the military.

Username: Wyvernclaw.

Character Name: Darus Krinul.

Species: Thoron.

Description: Darus is a male Thoron who stands at 6'8", with white-colored scales and deep green eyes. Having been born and raised in a warrior family, he has many scars that he bears with pride, each with its own unique -- though not necessarily accurate -- story.

He wears a bracer on his left forearm, where his primary weapon -- his arm blade -- is attached. In addition, his armor is black with white accents.

Personality: As a result of his upbringing, Darus is extremely fond of battle and war; he sees the war with the humans as the ultimate playing ground, and as such is in no hurry to see it end. He is extremely proud, and as a result, does not take kindly to insults, challenging anyone who dares to insult any aspect of him to a duel to the death.

Perhaps his greatest weakness is the fact that Darus does not understand humans as individuals, leading him to drasticfally underestimate their abilities in combat.

Background:Darus has had a fairly simple life -- having been trained as a warrior from a young age, he joined the Thoron Empire's military as soon as he was able to. From there, he engaged in multiple skimrishes and battles against multiple opponents, until finally making it to the Human-Thoron war. Now, he continues to fight for his empire against what he considers his greatest opponent yet.

Username: Woodfall

Character Name: Ailexia (I-lex-i uh

Species: (Human or Thoron ONLY): Human

Description: Firery red haired girl with bright jade green eyes and dark skin.

Personality: Very funny and bright girl. She can see light at the worst times although others think its annoying

Background: Umm I don't know what you mean....

Heading to my grandparents house this weekend so I may not be available for a couple days. This means the RP probably won't start until Monday.

Not quite. Here's a basic sketch of the head, it's currently all I've gotten done so far.

And here's a picture of an Elite from the Halo series which mostly shows how they're built.

halo-elite.jpg

As for the background, it's the history of your character. I'll post my character in a second to give you an example.

OOC: I can see now how you came up with that image for them.

Time to get things rolling, this RPs been sitting quietly long enough. Wyvern, is it alright if I stick you in Darulyx's squad? It'll keep things simpler for me since I won't have to come up with as many characters. Just don't think I can run too many right now. you can come up with some squadmates. Let's try and make the max ten soldiers, including your character and Darulyx. If you don't want to be in Darulyx's squad and would rather run your own group, just let me know and I'll edit the below IC post if necessary. Feel free to control Darulyx too, he is an NPC.

Woodfall, if you want to be in the same squad as my character, just let me know and go ahead and include your character my character's squad activities. Other wise, just post about them doing something else.

IC: Darulyx sat with his back resting against an old pine tree. One arm slung across his belly, rising and falling with each breath, and his helmet sitting on the ground to his right. The prince's bare head hung low with his chin almost touching his breath. No matter how Dargun looked at him, Darulyx seemed to be fast asleep, though Dargun knew he wasn't.

The prince's pale scales glowed eerily in the moonlight, while the black spotch remained dark and out of place. It almost looked like a gaping hole that went on forever into the darkness had positioned itself right on Darulyx's neck so that it may devour the light.

Everytime it was his turn to keep watch, Darulyx entered a strange hibernation. Dargun at first questioned this, wondering if the prince was sleeping on the job, but after several instances of Darulyx alerting the squad of an approaching basileon our a hunting group of wyverons, Dargun learned that he was never sleeping, he was listening intently for the tell tale sounds of an approaching threat.

Dargun eventually rose from his spot across the now dead campfire and crept silently past the sleeping bodies of his comrades to check around for any sign of movement incase the unlikely event of Darulyx missing something.

Hearing sudden movement behind him, Dargun swiftly turned around, his hand on the hilt of his sword. Darulyx was standing now, helmet in one hand and sword in the other.

"Wake the others, but be quiet about it," the prince hissed. "We've got Wyverons."

IC: Devon trembled under the thin blankets that barely kept out the cold of the night. it was his first night out in the field and he was terrified. All around he could hear the sounds of wild animals hunting. The night guards had been switched once now and he still had yet to get a wink of sleep. As much as he hated the the training academy, he missed having an actual bed, despite his hardness and stink. The forest floor was softer, but he could feel insects and what he hoped were unsually large worms crawling under and over him.

Rayne, a vet with five years of experience in fighting thorons under his belt snored loudly next to him. Several times already, the soldiers on the watch duty had kicked Rayne just to quiet him. The big man just snorted, rolled over, and resumed snoring.

Devon wished he could sleep as easily as he could, but found it difficult to close his eyes since everytime he did so, he saw a red-eyed thoron standing over him with a spear pointed as his chest. Feeling homesick and terribly frightened, Devon almost began crying when a heavy boot prodded his ribs.

"Get up, kid. Your turn."
