Warrior Cats: The Four Clans

I'm sorry but whats dialog?

I like it when it's long it leaves more tension in the book!

Chapter 3

            Rainpaw padded alongside Heavypaw through the cattails to the edge of the river near SteppingStones.  Her paws tingled with excitement.  Tonight she would be attending her first Gathering, and meet with all four Clans under the sacred truce of StarClan.  Even as she slipped into the freezing water, her body stayed warm at the mere thought.  On the other side of the riverbank, Silverstream waited for her to join her.

            "Excited?" she mewed, licking a drop of water off of her forehead.  Unable to speak from nervousness, Rainpaw nodded, shaking the rest of the water from her fur.  They padded along together down to the clearing beneath Fourtrees.  The area was filled with the scents of Clans.  Rainpaw saw the apprentices gathered near the edge of the clearing.  She and Heavypaw cautiously walked up to them and dipped their heads in greeting.

            "Hi!" exclaimed a pale ginger she-cat, who, by her scent, Rainpaw knew was of ThunderClan.  "My name's Sandpaw.  Who are you?"

            "My name's Rainpaw.  And this is Heavypaw," Rainpaw explained.  She looked around at the other apprentices.  There was another ThunderClan cat among them; he was a dark brown tabby, and two scrawny WindClan apprentices.  One dark gray tabby tom, the other was a light gray she-cat.  The WindClan cats all looked much skinnier than usual due to being driven out by the power-thirsty leader, Brokenstar.  Rainpaw knew that two young ThunderClan warriors had gone out to find them and brought them back less than a moon ago.

            Rainpaw was tempted to ask Sandpaw and her companion about which of her two Clanmates had gone on the mission, but just as she opened her mouth, the acrid scent of ShadowClan flooded her mouth.  The dark cats pushed their way into the clearing and scattered into the groups of cats.  Two apprentice toms came up to their group.  One was a small brown tom.  His head was raised proudly as he trotted over to join them.  The other walked more slowly, his head was drooped and his eyes were filled with seriousness.

            "Hello there," meowed Sandpaw in a voice that wasnt nearly as welcoming as when she had greeted her.  "Who are you?"
            The proud brown tom answered promptly.  "I'm Oakpaw.  This is my brother, Fernpaw."  Rainpaw looked into the black tom's mismatched eyes.  There was something in his stern glare that intrigued her.

            Oakpaw glanced at his brother expectantly, but he merely nodded and settled himself on a soft patch of grass.  Rainpaw could feel his steady gaze burning through her pelt.  While the others joined in pointless chatter, she lifted her eyes to meet his.  The gray she-cat wasnt sure if she was imagining it, but she thought she saw his gaze soften just a bit.

            Suddenly, a yowl sounded from the peak of the Great Rock.  The four clan leaders stood together, waiting for the cats to become quiet.  Rainpaw pushed herself to her paws and padded to sit below her leader, Crookedstar.  She became aware of Fernpaw following close behind her.  It looked as if he was going to sit a little farther away from her, but other cats took his place and forced him to sit beside her.

            Nervousness flooded his eyes.  A pang of sympathy struck at her heart.  "You can sit here, if you like," she mewed.

            Fernpaw muttered, "Thank-you," and slowly sat down.  The Gathering proceeded with each leader announcing clan news and the welcoming back of WindClan. 

Finally, the Gathering ended, and each cat separated in to their own clans. As Rainpaw headed to join the other RiverClan cats, something tapped her shoulder.  She turned around to see Fernpaw standing there.  The look in his eyes revealed that he had wanted to say something, but was now regretting it.  "Uh--," he began.

Rainpaw wanted to hear what he had to say, but she could hear Silverstream calling to her.  She began to turn, disappointed that the ShadowClan cat hadnt finished what he had wanted to say.  As she began to pad away, Fernpaw called to her, "Hey, wait!"  Her head whipped around to face the dark tom.  "What's your name?" His eyes were wide with longing.

 "Erm...Rainpaw."

"Rainpaw," he echoed.  "It was nice meeting you."

"You, too," she answered truthfully.

She finally began to head for her own territory, but not before she heard Fernpaw call, "Hope to see you again soon!"

Yeah, me too! she called back, and saw him trot off with his Clanmates.  As the pelts of RiverClan cats brushed against her, Rainpaws heart fluttered with excitement.  Fernpaw, she repeated to herself, as she sent a silent prayer of thanks to StarClan for having the two apprentices meet.

Ohhh...I like this chapter here! Some sexual tension goin' on! But I won't give away too much! You're gonna have to just read it yourself!!

By the way, I hope I'm not too long-winded..

yeah, I thought about adding more detail. But if you can't tell, I began to get a little sloppy at the end.

And sorry about adding it to a new topic, I wasnt really sure what I was doing...is there any way to combine the two?
