Shadowpaw's random stories and poems

I wish it had just begun...
We met each other at school.
I thought you were so cool.
You fooled with my heart, my feelings,
 my personal belivings.
You tampered with me, and now I'm done.
I wish it had only begun.
I loved you, and yet I still do.
 I'm glad that you knew.
It just can't be, not you and me.
 Us, impossible.
 To you, it's not appeasable.
 Now I'm done.
I wish it had only begun...

Hunger and Thirst
I hunger,
I thirst.
Though not for the worst.
I eat,
I drink.
I am happy,
I am full.
Though hunger will come,
and thirst with it too,
my hunger is satisfied,
and my thirst is, too.

Tribute to Moonstar
The moon,
it shines,
though not too bright.
The stars,
they twinkle.
Around the moon are they sprinkled.
A leader,
a friend.
Moonstar till the end.

Night to Sleep
I open my eyes
to look to the skies.
 A night of stars,
all further than Mars.
A night to sleep;
my dreams I keep.
I close my eyes;
to not see the skies.
My dreams to come;
but where are they from?
I see many things,
all in my dreams.
I wake- skies lit.
I still want to sleep a bit.
I close my eyes,
no longer looking to the skies.
My dreams, I keep,
all in my sleep.

Another Day
Another day of school.
I know that I'm very uncool.
I don't care
about what I wear.
I have black, baggy jeans
that are too big for even teens.
A black baggy shirt,
but absolutly no skirt.
Another day of these clothes...
Another day of this school...
Another day of just being uncool.
I'm tired,
I'm sick.
I'm sick of it.
Why does everyone try so hard to be cool?
Besides, it's just school!

The Skating Rink
Oval, long,
somewhere I belong.
Wheels, no heels-
can't say what it feels.
A ring, though long,
you skate to a song.
Just think,
a rink.

Light L Lawliet (Death Note kind of Haiku)
A smart detective.
A leader and a good friend.
Rest In Peace, dear L.

RE: Scarclaw's random stories and poems

Shadow Slayer
CHAPTER ONE:
Today was my birthday. Not just any birthday, but it was my 13th birthday, and my grandmother was going to give me something that she had called very special. I opened my eyes and looked at the sky. I was laying comfortably on a hill, in some very cool grass. It felt great to relax like this. I kept thinking of what grandmother could be giving me. It could be anything, knowing her.
I stood up, my long black hair swaying in the wind. I wear a baggy, black T-Shirt, with many small, dark blue decorations on it. My pants are baggy as well, with a matching dark blue chain hanging off of each side. I wear no shoes, as theyve always irritated me, and my feet have become strong because of this. I can literally walk on glass without it hurting.
Lunch would be soon, and I had to make it to my grandmothers house before then. She was going to talk to me and give me her present over a warm lunch. I imagined a bowl of warm tomato soup, with a grilled cheese sandwich cut into half diagonally. It made my mouth water.
I jumped on top of a telephone pole, then onto another, and another, until I could jump onto a nearby building, and run to my grandmothers house, occasionally jumping onto another roof. Soon I jumped off of the building, and I landed gracefully in front of my grandmothers house. I knocked. Once. Twice. She opened the door, and let me in quickly.
"Hi, Grandma. Am I on time," I asked, because I had a reputation of always being late.
"Only a minute early. Its a first! Over here, dear. Heres your lunch."
I was right. A warm bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, cut diagonally, just like in my daydream about half an hour before. I began to eat, and let the warm soup down my throat. Grandmother went into the other room- her bedroom- for a moment. She came back out with a slightly large package, wrapped in black and red, with a red bow on it. She sat it down in a chair next to me, and she sat down in her recliner.
"Enjoying lunch, dear? I made your favorite," she said.
"Its great. And will you please stop calling me dear? Im thirteen now."
"Oh, okay, I get it. Ill call you by your name, Shadow."
That is my name. Shadow. I like my name, even though I am a girl. In the lands where I live, you name yourself when you are young, and go by that name your whole life. I chose the name Shadow, because I never liked lighter colors, and I liked nighttime more than daytime.
My grandmother put the gift on the table in front of us, and she slid it over to me. "Open it, Shadow. Go on," she encouraged.
She quickly got a camera, and we took a few pictures first. Then, I pulled the bow off, and carefully opened the wrapper. There was a white box inside. I lifted the lid a little, looked away, then pulled it all the way off. I looked. A short scythe attached to a long chain, with a weight at the end. "A Kusari-gama! Grandma, thanks," I quickly squealed.
"You're welcome. It is time for the ceremony, I guess."
Also, in the land I live in, when you are a certain age, 13 in my case, they send you on a journey to a certain place. There would be dangers, traps, and enemies to face off with.
I remained silent. She lead me to the door and let me out, and she went back inside. I held my Kusari-gama in one hand, and the chain in the other. I jumped up onto a building. The land where the ceremony would be held was in the east, and I had to make it there before nightfall. I already had my bag, packed with all of the things I would need. I quickly dashed off, in the direction the sun was getting lower in. It was a bit after noon, so I had about 6 hours. That was just the right amount of time.
I was soon there, and the sun was just on the horizon. Right on time. In front of me stood a man in a long, black thing that looked like a dress, or a wrap around cape. I didnt know which. He lifted his hand up, as if waving hello, but he wasnt waving. I took my Kusari-gama and its chain in one hand, and made the same hand motion with my other. Soon, he spoke. He had a deep voice, like a preacher. "We are gathered here today to see this young girl off on her journey. We wish her luck, and give small gifts. Also, we give her a slayer name."
There was a moment of silence. Then, I spoke this time. "I want my name to be," I paused, and thought a moment. I wanted my name included in this. After a few seconds, I continued, "Shadow Slayer."
The man in the black clothing nodded, and looked at a table. "Everyone, please place your gifts to Shadow on this table. She will sit in the chair, and open them, one by one."
One minute passed. Then two, then three. After another few minutes, everyone had placed their gifts on the table. I bowed my head to the man in black, and I walked to the chair and sat. The first was a pretty, light blue package with a darker lace bow. It was so pretty that I didnt want to open it. I looked at the small white tag that was attached. It was from my mother. "Thanks, Mom," I said, loud enough for everyone to hear.
She winked at me, and then motioned for me to open it. I pulled on the lace. It slipped open quickly. I pulled off the wrapping, and inside was a small black belt, studded with metal. This metal wasnt silver, though. There was a special plant that you could add to liquid metal to change its color to a dark blue that matched my other clothing.
The next gift was a black notebook, with blue text on the front that read Shadow. It was from father. I thanked him, and opened the rest of my gifts. At last, I looked at the table. My Kusari-gama, the belt, the notebook, a small set of shuriken, a bag of bread that wouldnt spoil for a long time, bandages for wounds, and a set of dried healing herbs. All of this was perfect for a journey. I thanked everyone again, and allowed the darkly dressed man to finish the ceremony. "Shadow Slayer, we bid you farewell, and wish you luck. May you learn to hide in the shadows, gain your advantage, and make a swift kill. I warn you of demons, of all shapes, sizes, and strengths."
I bowed my head to him, packed my gifts into my bag, and after dinner with everybody, I looked in the direction I'd be traveling. Nagasaki. That was my destination. I was in Tokyo, so itd be a fairly long journey. The demons only made it worse.
The moon was rising, and I waved my farewells to my family and friends. They gave me words of wisdom, and wishes of luck. I walked in the right direction, guided by moonlight. There were small, harmless demons in the way. I didnt attack them, and they didnt attack me. After a few hours of walking in this direction, I came to a small town that Id spend the night in. I looked at the hotel, then checked how many Yen I had. Not enough. So, I just jumped on the roof quietly and lie there, allowing myself to sleep.

Chapter TWO:
The sun beat down on my skin. I sat up and yawned. Why must I always be late? I even slept late! I jumped off of the roof, suddenly getting the feeling that I was being watched. I looked around. Then, I saw a fuzzy ear, about as high off the ground as my knee. A big cat, or something like that. I thought to myself. I walked around the corner, only to see a cat demon. Its fur was black, and its eyes blue. It matched my clothing as well as everything else I had. I wanted it for my own, so I stooped down on one knee, and made cooing noises, trying to get it to come to me. It took one step, then two. After about a minute it touched its head to my hand, and made a purring noise, but it sounded like a low growl, too. "Your name shall be Night, and your slayer name shall be Night Slayer." I liked the sound of that. Night Slayer and Shadow Slayer, each of us working as a team.

Night smiled at me, or did something that looked like a smile, so, I smiled back. The cat demon jumped into my arms, making the same, half purr, half growl sound from a moment ago. It was time to get going. I looked at where I had come from, and I turned my back to that direction, and began to walk south-southeast. That was the way to Nagasaki, and Id make it there with Night.

We walked- more as I walked, with Night in my arms- a short distance before we met our first threatening demon challenger. Then, Night did something unexpected. She began to release a light blue fire from her wrists, ankles, and a bit from her tail. It looked pretty cool, but it seemed more for the fight than for looks. I got my Kusari-gama ready for the fight as well.

The demon wed be fighting in a number of seconds was a thin-legged, tall, preacher demon. It wore a white dress-like cape, and it had a necklace of sacred beads around its neck. I decided Id take the necklace for my own and sell it once weve defeated it. Its hands were blades, so Id have to watch out for those.

I quickly threw the chain end to wrap around the demons legs to make a quick kill. Perfect aim. The demon fell after its legs were bound so close, and it lashed its arms around. I tried to cut off its legs, but the skin was thick, like armor, and it was lashing around still. It'd melt, though, so Night came over and sent a light blue flame from her mouth and melted the demons legs off, along with part of its torso. The melted metal-like skin kept the demon from bleeding, but it was dead anyway.

I carefully pulled the large necklace off of the demons head, and I stuffed it into my bag after a moment of examining it. Perfect condition diamonds, large enough to earn about ten thousand Yen per bead. There were nine beads, so, itd total up to ninety thousand Yen. I smiled, as this was enough to finish the journey on if I spent it wisely, even though I also thought that I was a spoiled money spender.

I didnt worry, though, because preacher demons were common, but preacher demons with diamond beads were a bit more rare. I looked in my bag real quick. Because I remembered that I had a demon catalog, with the abilities and weaknesses of each known demon, and what items that they sometimes hold. Preacher demon, page 4. Abilities: Armor Skin; hard to cut skin, can only be cut by diamond blades and fire. Hold items; they always hold one necklace of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, graphite, or other types of gems or rocks. Weaknesses; fire or diamond blades. I decided that when I decided where wed spend the night, I'd spend some time putting some diamond powder on my blade in case we ran into another preacher demon. I tried to figure out what the cloth it was wearing was made of, and it looked just like cotton. Not valuable.

Night transformed back to her normal self, and she walked beside me when I began to walk away form the demon, towards our destination. I was shivering with excitement. Killing demons and traveling was fun. It was about nine AM, so we just kept walking. I wasnt in a rush, because of my new love of travel. "Hey, Night," I broke the silence, even though Night couldnt speak back.

She just kept walking, and looked up at me. She made a curious whimper sound. "Are you hungry?" I asked.

She mewed, which I took as a yes, so I decided to make an early lunch. I gathered sticks, nearby berries and parsley, and some small flame-making rocks. After setting up a fire, I lit it with the rocks by hitting them together until they sparked on a small, dried twig. Then I used that twig to set the rest of the wood on fire. Using the berries and parsley, with some nearby water, I created a broth. Letting it cook, I pulled the demon catalog out of my bag again and began to educate myself on demons that lived on the roads that I'd be traveling on.

Soon the broth was ready. I found some rocks with indents in them, and with other nearby rocks, I managed to make bowls out of them. I washed them out with water from a nearby stream. When I made it back to the fire, Night was laying there, watching my belongings. I sat down next to her, and scooped some of the broth into each of the bowls. After I placed it in front of her, Night mewed, and started to eat. It sounded to me as if she were complementing my cooking, even though she hadn't eaten any when she mewed. Maybe she was just saying that it smelled good. I smiled, and began to eat my own. It was good, and I didnt even know how to cook that well. The parsley I had added gave it a little spice, but not too much.

After about twenty more minutes, we finished eating. Night took a nap while I was left to clean up. I threw sand over the ashes, so that they wouldnt light again until the next traveler uncovered the twigs and sticks, then I packed the newly made rock bowls into my bag after washing them. When I was done it was about ten AM, and we resumed walking again. Night padded along, right beside me. Then, we heard a crash. "More demons?!"

I looked ahead, where the crash came from, and ran towards it. It turned out that a large fox demon was responsible for the crash. The fox was about the size of a house, and it was obviously a lava fox demon, which was stronger than my fire cat demon, so Night wouldnt be of any help. I located my Kusari-gama, and threw the scythe end at the fox.

It hit, because the fox was so large. But, it didnt hit where I had aimed. I aimed at its neck, but I hit its shoulder instead. It still did some pretty good damage, as its blood splattered the ground in front of me. Night hid in a nearby box that was halfway overturned. Luckily, the scythe was still stuck in the foxs shoulder. I pulled it hard, and ripped down the leg of the fox. More blood spilled, and a pool of black demon blood leaked onto the ground. After pulling my Kusari-gama back, the fox collapsed. I took several of its fangs to create a sword, or maybe some arrowheads. Many people of the town gathered around me, thanking me and offering gifts.

After telling the townsfolk to keep their belongings, and return to rebuild their fallen homes, a knight on a horse rode up to me. "Shadow Slayer, I presume?" the knight asked.

"Yeah. What of it?"

"The king wishes to thank you personally."

"Whatever. Lets make this quick."

I climbed onto the knights black horse, and sat behind him. Night jumped up and sat behind me, on the horses rump. He took us to the largest place in the town. There was a long hall, and at the end, the king- a fat man, with a white beard and moustache. "Oh, ho, ho, ho. The girl who saved the town?" the king asked.

"Yeah. So?" I responded.

"C'mon, lassie. Brighten up. I am willing to give you something of value as a thank you gift for saving my people."

"I already got some of the foxs teeth. I dont need anything else."

"What of this..?" the king asked, holding up a sapphire, that was cut very carefully, and glowed magnificently.

"I'll take it, I guess." I said, when the king took my hand and placed the gem in it.

The sharp bottom of the sapphire poked my hand. I turned around, held up a hand, waving goodbye, and walked back out with Night. I tossed the sapphire, and caught it in midair. "Score. This outta sell for a lot."

Night mewed. I looked down at the small, knee-high cat demon. She looked back at me, with a curious look on her face. "What? I just said that this thing would sell for a good bit of Yen."

Night mewed again. Obviously she didnt want me to sell it. She put both of her front paws on my thigh, holding herself up, trying to get the sapphire. So, I handed it to her. She held it in her mouth carefully, and set it on the ground. It began to glow more. 'Magic?' I thought. 'No, it couldnt be.' Night began to glow as well. She increased in size, and now stood easily waist-height. "Whoa, growth spurt."I looked on the ground. The sapphire was gone.
