Featherstorm gave a mrrow of laughter. She glacned down at the tiny bundles, "I can see how that would be a problem." She closed her eyes and laughed a bit more. She bent her head down ad licked them each on the top of the head. She turned her eyes to Owlscar and purred, "What do you think their warrior names would be? I cant wait myself." She thought about how each of them would look all grown up. Canyonkit looked like he would be big and strong with wide shoulders. Ashkit would probably have long thin legs, easy for jumping with. Bubblekit was small yet adorable and probably would be able to sneak easily.
"Hmm..." Owlscar thought a moment, looking at each kit in turn. "Possibly...Canyonwing? Or Canyonshadow." He looked at Ashkit for a few heartbeats. "Ashforest...Ashriver..." Owlscar looked at Bubblekit and a name immediately came to him. "And Bubbleswirl." His face was bright as he glanced at Featherstorm.
Featherstorm purred as he listed off possible names. "They are all perfect names for them. But i guess we shall wait for our leader to say what their names shall be." She let her thoughts drift slowly away from the kits. "Owlscar, what was your mother and father like?" She hadnt known many of the cats' lineage in the clan so she didnt know his parents. Her pale eyes sparkled at him, wanting to know more about him.
Owlscar's face fell. "Oh. Well..." He wished she hadn't asked, but he didn't want to brush her off. "My...my mother died giving birth to me...she...her name was Shimmermist. I was going to have a sister but...after my mother died...my sister died too. She was never born..." He closed his eyes, not wanting to tell her the entire story, but she deserved to know. "And my father...my father was killed by an eagle just after I became medicine cat apprentice." He looked at her again, smiling weakly. "So I'm an orphan."
Featherstorm's face fell in to a shocked look. "Oh Owlscar," He sat upso they could look at eye level, "I am so sorry." He leaned forward and pressed her nose to his muzzle. "I didnt know. I am sorry." She breathed in his scent softly. It was full of herbs and was completely gentle. It soothed her. YEt for all it soothed her she wanted to be able to comfort him.
Owlscar closed his eyes at her touch. He wanted to stay like that for the rest of his life...but he pulled away slightly. "It's all good," he insisted softly. "You didn't know. And you asked. And I told you. It's fine." He swallowed. "I don't care, really. Everything was an accident, and I'm not upset over it."
Featherstorm tilted her head to the side and stared directly in to his golden eyes, "Are you sure?" She stared at him for long moments before she gave a soft sigh, "I trust you Owlscar. But if there is ever something troubling you, please tell me." She gave him one last warm smile before she laid back down and wrapped herself around the kits once more. Feather thought about her own parents. She hadnt known them to well. They had always been distant and she didnt want to be that way with her kits.
"Thank you, Featherstorm," Owlscar meowed sincerely with a nod. "I appreciate it..." he looked at how she made an effort to stay close to her kits and admired her for it.
Leafdapple grabbed the megar vole and ran back to camp. When she got to the entrance of camp she sighed. Leaf padded over to prey pile and put the vole on it. She then padded slowly to the warriors den to go to sleep.
