What does each power do?

Fire
You can control fire/flames. You can create it and hold in it your hand in the form of a flame or a ball, and you can touch it and play with it. You can set things on fire without touching them; you can also put out fires. You dont feel heat when fire touches you; you can't be burned, neither can anything that's touching you. So if you're holding hands with someone and that person for some reason gets set on fire, they won't feel a thing and nothing will happen to them. (Also means that your clothes won't burn.)
Making bigger fires takes more energy; same with putting out bigger fires.

Water
You can control water - in a cup, in a river, in the ocean. You can make a blob of water into whatever shape you want; meaning, you can create waves and even tsunamis, but tsunamis take tons of energy. You can also create a bubble of water around yourself and other people who are near you, which will protect you from most weapons and other Praesentia's powers.
You can also breathe underwater.
You can make it rain/stop rain; you often work together with Air to drastically change the weather.

Sight
Mind-reading. You can read the mind of anyone - it works best if you are near them, but if you know them really well, you can just picture their face/think of their name and you can read their mind.
It is easier to use the Sight if you are physically near to someone, or emotionally/mentally close to them. (You'd be able to read your best friend's mind much easier than a stranger's.)
When you use your powers, you concentrate on one person and then their own voice just reads their thoughts to you. It's not like Edward Cullen's powers, where everyone's voices are bombarding you all the time. You can choose who to hear and who not to hear.
The downside - if people know you're reading their mind, or if they're trying to hide their thoughts from people, you can't read their mind. In other words, people can close their minds from you if they try.
You can also speak to people in their minds...but only to the other Praesentia. Useful during a battle...you can read the enemy's mind and then silently tell your friends what moves the enemy is gonna make.

Earth

well, the usual - grow plants and control them. But, logically, bigger plants take more energy. To make flowers, you have to be in a good mood. To make trees, you cant be tired, because they're hard to make. There's the classic - vines to wrap around your enemy..but different ones - such as longer ones, or vines with thorns, etc - take more energy.
You can control plants that you made yourself - that's easiest. Plants that you didn't make, you can control, but it's harder and you have to concentrate more. Bigger plants that aren't yours might not do what you want. Plus, really old plants - like big, century old trees - barely obey you at all because they've developed more of their own willpower.
You can also cause SMALL earthquakes, like, just enough to knock the people next to you off their feet. Useful in a battle, but can't cause lasting damage.

Light

You can bend light to make illusions, like mirages...you know like, when its really hot you think you can see water on the ground? Things like that. You can also create light and literally bend it to hold a ball of light in your hand; you make it tangible. You can deflect it off yourself so you're sorta invisible; you know, like, people can't really see you because no light is reflecting off your body.

Air

you can sorta control the weather, but only within like 2 feet of you. So you can make your own bubble, sorta. If it's raining, you can make your own layer of air...say, your own atmosphere...to keep the rain out. You can also control the temperature inside that radius.
You can also SORTA fly, because you can make the air lift you up. (you can do it to other people too, but it takes more of your strength.) But "flying" drains a ton of your energy, so mostly, you'd just use it to jump high when you need to and stuff. Plus, you can't go higher than a 2-story building; too many interferences.
I think that's it...uh...oh, you can swim underwater, because you can make your air bubble thing. But underwater your bubble is weaker, so you can only last like 10 minutes underwater.

 

 

The Shades

Generally, they sorta have the same powers as a dementor in Harry Potter...they can cause despair, just make things depressing in general. But, at will. It doesn't automatically happen. And if they are physically touching someone, they can make them suicidal and then the person will kill themselves. But if that person knows what's going on and they try really hard, they can resist it.

Appearance: A tall boy with messy black hair and bright green eyes. He has pale skin which makes his black hair look even blacker. His freckles are unusually blonde, his body hair like on his skin is also blonde. He looks a bit like Daniel Radcliffe, if you know what I mean :)

Other: He became an orphan at age 11. His mother died from cancer and his dad died from a terrible car crash, whom Shia wasn't in. At first, he lived with his mean aunt and uncle, then ran away a year later. Shia works at the local vetenarian place; he's a nurse.
