Kayden took Shia's advice and sprinted all the way to Hallmark. He bolted through the door of the shop, making the wind chimes over the door go crazy. Half the customers looked to him with amused and annoyed expressions. Kayden grinned at them all and saluted the store in general. "My sincerest apologies," he lamented in a British accent. Everyone laughed and went back to their shopping. Kayden went up to the counter. "You weirdo," his manager said, but grinning the whole time. She handed him his Hallmark nametag and said, "You're wandering today." This meant that Kayden would walk around the store, fixing displays and helping people out in general. "Sweet!" Kayden said; when he was offering to help people find things, he got to converse way more than working the register.
ooc)) Everything's too perfect ;DD Lemme bring in a Shade to shake everyone's nerves, if you don't mind.
George walked down the street by himself. He kind of made himself the loner of the group. Wandered around town for fun, talking to thieves if he saw them. It was fun. George was respected through out town, and had a lot of connections.
Walking down a run down part of town, he spotted one of the higher-up thieves and smiled a greeting. The thief touched two fingers to the left of his chest and nodded, the symbol of respect gave only to George. It made him feel respected, but also uncomfortable. It had once been a joke by a younger thief, but turned into a symbol of respect over time.
He went father down the street, noting one or two people wandering, but other than that, it was empty. One of the people turned abruptly and started following him, obviously thinking George was oblivious to it. Another appeared fromt he shadows, and that was when George was sure he was in trouble. He grabbed his run-down track phone in his pocket, sending a pre-made text to his friends.
George: Shades near where we just were, come quick.
He sent a real text following, with the street name. By the time it took him to do that, the Shades were almost right behind him. He could get the advantage, or let them grab him then show them what he could do. Just as he figured out what he should do, a man came into veiw, wrestling a woman. He looked hike he was trying to keep her from screaming or running away. He was doing a good job at it.
George took his hand out of his pocket, summoning fire quickly. It danced on his hand, excited. What do you want us to do? It seemed to ask. He threw it carefully at the Shade silencing her, and he backed up in fear. "Run!" George yelled at the woman, summoning another ball and throwing it straight at the man's face this time. It apperantly found purchase, because he clawed at his face with a silent scream.
ooc)) I'll leave it at that for now, because I don't know what the Shades' powers are ;DD

ooc; Ah yes, I forgot about that. Generally, they sorta have the same powers as a dementor in Harry Potter...they can cause despair, just make things depressing in general. But, at will. It doesn't automatically happen. And if they are physically touching someone, they can make them suicidal and then the person will kill themselves. But if that person knows what's going on and they try really hard, they can resist it.
Shia smiled. "Well, Ash, I have this thing, Bolt and I," He bowed like a little french man and put his hand out. "Well, Bolt, do zu haf zomezing to zay.. anyzing?" He asked the little retriever. Bolt barked and wagged his tail. Shia laughed. "Oh, he zayz he lovez me." The french accent was a bit weird; Shia never really cared for it. He smiled, but suddenly felt a dark feeling. A Shade. His smiled quickly left his face. "Ash, Lucia, take Bolt and run. Run as far as you can get. Take shelter somewhere inside. Don't leave." he left them there and began to run as fast as he could the other direction; to where the shade was. He saw George Cooper already attacking the shade a bit. "George!" he yelled. Nodding, he motioned that he would try and help fight off the single shade. He summoned a medium sized vine; it was large enought to wrap around the shade twice. Shia kept it there, then summoned a mini earthquake around the dark figure. Some people staggered by the sudden movement in the ground, but he, however, didn't feel a thing. After all, Shia was the one who summoned it. "WE NEED HELP!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. Hopefully, someone would come, a prasentia. Not a normal person. He summoned another vine; it was smaller. His powers were decreasing.. he was using too much energy....
ooc; I'm going to add a bit to Kayden's powers to make them more useful but it'll have a restriction. He can also speak to people in their minds...but only to the other Praesentia. Useful during a battle...he can read the enemy's mind and then silently tell his friends what moves the enemy is gonna make.
Kayden had promised his boss he would work overtime; he had to go help. He dashed back to where George and Shia were fighting the Shade... He stood a ways away, like he usually did, with his arms folded over his chest, looking casual. Suddenly he remembered something... Ashley, he mind-spoke to her, urgently. We need you here, you need to bend the light so people can't see what's going on...they'll call the police on us, we can't let the mortals see us fighting!
George winced as the cold wrapped around him. they would loose. They were sure to loose, there was nothing good about this. They'd have to ship their broken bodies off to some nameless graveyard and not even have funerals.
He shook it off, reaching inside him for that yellow-hot ball of fire. He imagined it spreading it's warmth throughout his body, so that all of him was burning. He was filled with hope, and the dispair left him. Flinging another ball of fire, he threw one at the ground, shaping it to be tall and between the Shades and the Praesentia. Keeping his concentration, he glanced around. Where was the woman? Had she run like he'd told her to, or was she hiding in a nearby building?
"Come on, Ash! We need you here!" he yelled in frustration, curving the fire away from his friends.

"Ash, we can't let them fight without us. I'm going to help, and I know we'll need you too. Bolt is just gonna have to come with us." Lucia flipped down her skateboard and turned it away from the shelter, pushing off in the direction of the fight. She skated up, and leaped off her skateboard, flying at one of the shades. Her power wasn't very useful combat-wise, so she had had to learn how to fight hand-to-hand. It was actually a good thing though, because if she was somehow restricted from fighting with her powers, she wasn't completely useless. As she neared the Shade, she summoned the air around her and dried it, making it almost crackle. Then a little bit of condensation and she had her own mini thunderstorm going. As she flew, she pushed the cloud over to the Shade, a man, and watched the lightning reach for his hair. He began dancing around, trying to avoid it, and Lucia had to keep only a step away, so he would not exit the perimeter of her bubble. The Shade realized that if he moved far enough, he would be away from the star-hot lightning, so he shoved at Lucia, adding a touch of despair as he did. She fell backwards, and he danced away from her small storm with a smirk on his face. The clouds above her started raining, but she shook it away, dissolving the storm. She waited, sitting on the ground, acting the helpless girl who was just pushed down.

George threw another ball of fire, spotting Lucia. She had a great hold, until the man shoved her. He felt like he had just set his stomache on fire by accident. Was she okay? He walked straight through the fire, clearing a spot where she had fallen. "Come on," He said softly, reaching down for her hands. He pulled her up with no trouble on her part, but lost his concentration, so the fire went down to dancing on the wet ground. One of the men had left, but the two there were still great fighters to have survived this long. All of the Shades were. New anger rushed through him. They could have hurt Lucia, and the woman the man on the left had been holding was nowhere to be seen. The fire flared up again, holding them off once more.

Kayden always had to fight physically, meaning he was fairly stronger than the others. It took a lot of his energy, but his job during battles like this was to read every Shade's mind at once and transfer their thoughts immediately to all five of his companions. He couldn't do it in perfect detail, but it would give each of the Praesentia a vague idea of what their opponent was about to do. Kayden decided to fight hand-to-hand. The only thing was physical touch...he couldn't let their despair get to him. Trying to keep his Shade-himself-Praesentia connection going, he leapt into the fight, throwing himself at a Shade that was about to join in an attack on Lucia. He kicked the Shade to the ground, but he immediately jumped back up, glaring at Kayden. Kayden held the Shade's gaze, and his hope started falling..."No," Kayden muttered, and launched himself at his opponent again.
"Hey Mr. Hallmark! Don't forget about that mountain you promised to lift for me!" Lucia called over to Kayden, distracting the two Shades near at hand, but the main goal was to get him to laugh. Laughing was probably the greatest weapon against the Shades' despair. She jumped, quickly thanking George for the hand up, although that killed her helpless-girl act, and leaping to get close to the Shade that had pushed her. She punched him smack in the face, sending him reeling backwards. You won't win this fight. You'll never win... a voice nagged in her head. She shook her head to dispel the thoughts, and leaped again for another attack.
