Joshua gave the papers another dirty look before leaning back, tilting the chair on two legs as he laced his fingers behind his head.

"Why don't you just skip it?" the blonde suggested. If he realized he was showing a complete lack of a moral compass, he didn't show it. "If we die on the raid, then what's the point of having done your homework? Besides, if you do it and then we meet Cecilia late, she'll kill us and that'll be the end of that. What's the point of spending our last moments in pain?"

He fell silent, and a mischievous smile touched his lips as he considered the delicious image of Cecilia looming over some unfortunate soul. It probably wouldn't really be for them, but Cecilia, although she didn't show it, got angry at very many things, and her silent, intimidating wrath was scarier than any emotional explosion. His grin grew at the thought of the idiot he had the fortune not to have seen for a year, and rocked forward so that the chair had all four legs firmly planted on the floor. "So," Joshua said, leaning forward. "How about it?"

Aetius grinned back and threw the pencil across the room. "Who needs math, anyway?" he asked, standing up as the hawk let out a questioning cluck. "We're going deeper into the heart of the rebellion, friend," he murmured, grinning at the thought of how silly it sounded, as if the place was the home of an enemy. "If you don't want to come, you may want to go now, before there are no more windows. The hawk let out a short whistle before hopping off of Aetius's shoulder and onto the window sill, before jumping out and landing on a tree somewhere.
"Let's go have some fun, shall we?" He held an arm out to help his brother up, grinning carelessly. "Anything's better than homework."

"I'm glad you see it my way, brother," Joshua laughed, taking the arm although he didn't really need it. He waved good bye to the hawk and led the way out the door and down the hall, through the twisting hallways to the cafeteria.

There Cecilia was already waiting, her brows knit together as she stared into her steadily cooling soup. Curious, Joshua looked in too but saw nothing but the watery soup and a few chunks of carrots and meat. When she still didn't look up as he hovered over her, he cleared his throat.

"We're here."

Cecilia glanced up sharply, emerald eyes flashing a warning and her hand dropping to the belt (and the weapons) at her waist before she realized it was Joshua and Aetius. "Oh, it's just you."

"What do you mean it's just us; you called us here!"

She flapped a hand at him and finished off the remnants of her meal. "I was thinking, alright? Alright, so I got permission from the head honcho. I've decided on that one foodstuffs company. Food4U.* Know it?" She didn't wait for a reply as she continued, "Their CEO's been talking against us, and since we've got a reputation to keep up, we're going to repay them for their kind words with a raid or two. Naturally, we'll be going out under the cover of night. Seeing as it's around noon now, after this you'll have some time to pack up and sleep. I'll come by and wake you when it's come.

"Anyway, their distribution center isn't too far from here--we can steal one of their cars just as easily as we can walk straight on in, but the former warrants less attention, especially if we do it right. The cloud cover tonight and slight rain will allow for minimal visibility for the man. Joshua can get his tires, if Aetius will provide us with feed on their progress from his birds, and I can easily take out of the man when he comes out to check on his tires. If he's smart.... Well, we'll see if his guilty conscience will be enough to get him out of the car." Joshua did not much like the woman's smile, but he said nothing as she continued to lay out the rest of their plans.

"Remember that plans only work out exactly up until step one or two--be prepared to take orders and think fast." Cecilia leaned out to rap on their skulls with her knuckles. "These aren't for show, and don't get caught in the moment. Kill anyone who resists--or at least disable them," she added as she saw Joshua's slightly taken aback expression, "but most importantly, don't get caught. They won't let you go back to your forest home now that you've been exposed to us Rebels, you know. Your future is testing or execution, and believe me, neither of those options are things you want to try out, especially at your age." She talked for another few minutes and after making sure the two understood what was at stake, she leaned back and asked, "Any questions? If not, you're dismissed."

Javin had slipped by the place that the three people were now and had been listening from behind the door. A raid, huh? Wy hadn't he been invited? Probably because he wasn't invited to anything. Maybe he would go, stay a distance away while being invisible, and go in and help if needed. His power would help dearly with this. He laughed softly, than turned invisible and ran off down the hall to his room. This could work out. He was eligible, and a rebel. He could pull this off.

Aetius nodded. "I'm good with that," he replied, grinning. "I've got a few birds who already know me who can help. Shouldn't be too hard at all." He was already wondering if maybe that Food4U place had some kind of jerky. He missed their meat dinners and jerky - not waiting for the jerky to be ready, but eating it was always fun. "Hey, since we're raiding the food, do we get first picks on what's inside the truck?" He asked as they got ready to leave.

Javin stood, turned invisible, and stepped out of the doorway for the kids and Cecilia to come out. He laughed softly again, under his breath so they couldn't hear. He was gonna be at the raid, whether they liked it or not. He didn't need an invitation. He would just follow them. He had followed the fastest of things before, and he was one heck of a good tracker. This would be good. They'd see he wasn't worthless. The leaders of the Resistance already knew that, seeing his promotion, but not these kids.

A year at the facility had not dulled Joshua's senses, and a crude sound touched his ears. Glancing over his shoulder, he expected to see someone coming into the hall for a meal. He was surprised to see that there was no one there, and surprise quickly turned into a feeling of unease. His attention was not quite all on Cecilia as she concluded their meeting.

"Perfect," she was saying. "Alright, make your plans, and I'll call you when we're going. What you do with your time until then is up to you. Take note, though, that this is the first time you'll ever really have a heads up for a small-time raid like this. When I call you is when I call the others, and that's all the warning they get. Half an hour to prep and we're out--we can't risk letting raids leak, so make sure you two can keep your mouths shut. And no, you don't--if that were the case we'd have people clamoring to go on the raid. However, if you can find small things that aren't too huge or messy you can take them yourself. The Rebellion has first priority, though, so keep that in mind."

Joshua nodded dutifully and waited for his brother. As soon as Cecilia had gotten up and disappeared out the doorway--presumably to prepare or sleep or whatever it was she did before a raid--he leaned over to whisper, "Did you hear that?" They were still standing inside the hall, well out of hearing range of anyone sitting at tables nearby, let-alone any would-be stalkers or creepers or unwanted eavesdroppers.

Javin knew that Joshua knew that he was there, so he silently backed away, making sure his feet made no noise. Then, when he was about ten feet away, he turned and fled down the hall. Come get me, kids, he thought, and a snicker escaped his mouth. He could run fast, but also quietly. Maybe he was well off now, racing away down the hall, from a few kids that probably weren't even as strong, let alone smart, as him. He could escape anyone easily.

Joshua tried in vain to get a response from his brother, but Aetius did not reply even after vigorous poking and he sighed, giving up. Still, he was far from accepting that no one was there. Aetius' earlier mention of the idiot brought the annoying Rebel with the useless power to mind. The man was a menace, Joshua decided disgust, and it was probably him creeping around, eavesdropping on conversations never meant for his ears. And it wasn't as if they were even trying to hide anything from him--they were in the cafeteria, for gods' sakes!

The blonde left for his room, brother in tow, uncharitable thoughts walking the very thin line between rightous anger and loathing for stupidity and uselessness.

Javin lay there in his room. He was tired. He had a feeling that he shouldn't have listened, and that he shouldn't follow them to the riot, but what could it hurt? He had to prove himself to these kids. If they got into trouble, he would help, enough said. He was a Rebel, so why wasn't Cecilia talking to him? They thought he was untrustworthy. He'd show them. He was higher rank, he told himself. He could do it, and no one would even see him.
