Joshua's touch was the farthest thing from feather-light as it ghosted over her skin. Finding the offending dart, he yanked it out without prelude and held it up to what little light there still was. Oh, this stuff. Glancing around for the Invisible Worrier, he waved for him while the dart was still in his hand. As he stood up, he gestured at the woman before he set off for the cabin, where their family of three had prepared various antidotes in the off chance that something still existed in the forest that they hadn't become immune to already. They had been exposed to the many toxins of the forest since childhood, and as a result all but the strongest toxins only mildly irritated the three.

The blonde was rapidly disappearing though the trees, not checking to see if the man was following with the woman. It wasn't his problem if they couldn't keep up--he wasn't the one who would suffer from the death of the woman.

-----

Lulubell followed, amused at the cold-bloodedness of the blonde. During all their surveillance he had never struck her as a particularly talkative one, sure, but never so capable of leaving a dying woman to the care of her clearly inept partner. It would be so easy to end this now.... The hand closer to her throwing daggers twitched once before she settled for following the blonde, a silent ghost among treetops. She was careful to keep the bumbling rebels within earshot and the blonde within eyesight as she moved.

Aetius cast one more glance back up to the trees, one to the other two, and then he followed his brother, sheathing one of the knives. Then he let out a soft chuckle. "You sure know how to deal with trespassers." Then he sighed longingly. "Those arrows were gorgeous. D'you think we could go pick them up later if they're still there?"

Lulubell had completely forgotten about her arrows until the elder boy had commented. Pausing in mid-stride, she debated between her stalker victims and her arrows before greed won over and she doubled back. The arrows, being made of metal as they were, were worth a lot and rarely took damage. Besides, while the forest Gifted could erase their tracks, there was no way the injured rebels could, and there was no risk of losing them.

----

Joshua only noticed the malevolent presence after it was gone, and he mumbled something to himself. He didn't look back, though, concentrating on the complex path beneath his feet. He glanced back at his brother and shrugged. "Well, before now we've only had trespassers of the animal kind." Vaulting over a fallen log, he landed effortlessly and replied, "Sure. If they're still there. Maybe you can get the lady to give you something shiny after we're done treating her."

"Perhaps. If her clueless friend actually brings her. Do you think we should leave a trail for them? After all, she might be heavy, and he could very well have a hard time carrying her and keeping up with us..." Aetius followed his brother, realizing that he wasn't really acting like an older brother, being distracted by shiny objects and following the younger's lead.

Javin watched as Aetius and Joshua walked away, and he kneeled again beside Sarah. "Wow, they're jerks, if you know what I mean, but they're helping us, and that's all that matters right now." He walked over and leaned against a tree and slightly chukled. He had been messing with their minds, and he liked doing that, watching Aetius slashing blindly at wat was supposed to be Jaxin, when he was about 10 yards away.

Joshua rolled his eyes, but stopped. Leaning against a tree, he crossed his arms and huffed, blowing stray strands of hair out of his face. "The guy really did look useless from the get-go," the blonde admitted. Feeling something resembling pity for the woman to be stuck with such a pathetic partner, he sighed. "Where do you think sis went? Back to the cabin, maybe? She was with us up until the explosion...." Glancing up to the tiny square of sky above him, he could see gathering clouds. Thoughtful expression turning into a scowl, he commented, "They had better hurry up, though. If they can't get here before the rain falls, they'll never make it through the last stretch before the cabin."

Their cabin was situated near the crook of a river. While not particularly fast under normal circumstances, it was very deep and during heavy rains could be enough to drag even them under and down the waterfall a mile or so away. Besides the river protecting half of the cabin's flanks, the cabin was perched upon a rocky outcrop--one had to climb over sharp rocks that even in perfect condition required concentration to climb, and it was dangerous even for them to climb in the blinding conditions of a rainstorm. Joshua could only imagine the woman being carried by her friend and he shuddered. She would probably break her neck before they got the antidote. Voicing this fact, he suggested, "Maybe one of us should run back to the cabin and get the antidote? At the rate this guy's carrying her she'll be dead before the rain starts, let alone get here."

Javin walked along slowly, as the gifted had expected. He sighed and stumbled a few times, and decided to turn himself invisible, and see what would heppen to make it seem like Sarah was floating in the air. He smiled to himself and changed, then stumbled on something again. "Crap, could this terrain get any more annoying?" he hissed to himself. He kicked a rock out of his way with an invisible foot. He could tell that the Gifted hated him, and thoght he was dumb, but whatever. They'd see. He could mess with their minds and make tem see that way. He grinned, then swallowed the emotions back again.

"Sounds like a good idea. You start heading back, I'll go get the antidote." Aetius ran forward at a sprint, reaching their cabin and jumping across the stepping-stones that they had found long ago. Up the cliff side and through the door, he grabbed the vial of green liquid and raced back out, meeting his brother, who had continued walking casually, halfway back. "Let's see if they've actually moved any."
