Starcross padded behind Roan, her claws out and ready to attack. The fur on the back of her spine were sticking out. Every noise made her hiss and jump up in surprise. "Where are they..." she murmured quietly. She was even too scared to talk loud in case they heard her and caught the patrol. She could clearly hear the humans, but had no idea where they were. It was frustrating. "Roan. We need more wolves," she muttered.

Roan whirled around to face Starcross. "We'll be fine, my dear," he said in a sickly sweet voice like he always did when he was talking to those who were closer to him than the rest of the pack. He turned back around and kept walking. He heard and smelled the humans, but he didn't really see them yet. He could spot movement every so often.

Then, suddenly, the roar of an engine shook the woods.

Dempsey stayed where he was and narrowed his eyes. "I'd rather sleep out here then in the camp right now." he gave a short growl, not forgiving Guntur just yet. Turning he lifted his ears when he heard a loud rumble. "What was that?" he barked and listened.

Starcross nodded. "I hope we are," she murmured. She started trotting but when the monster roared, she jumped. The fur was sticking out all over her.
"They're huge," she breathed, completely terrified. "We'll never be able to beat them!" She shook her head and tried to wish that it wasn't real, but of course, it was. The clan, everyone, the kits, the elders, they were all in danger. And if they couldn't stop it, it would either be death of leaving this territory.

Guntur cringed when he heard the noise. "Please," he said to Dempsey, still concerned about the noise. "Please come back. I'll make sure that Roan stays away from you both, I swear. Just please, we have to get back to the den!" he barked.

Roan looked around. The noise was so loud. It rumbled through the trees so hard tat he thought it might knock them down. The ground began to shake and a giant, yellow human thing came out from behind the undergrowth. "RUN!" he howled and turned around and started for the den.

Not even waiting for a second time, Starcross ran with all her might. She ran next to Guntur, making sure he wouldn't get lost or hurt. If he was in trouble, she'd throw herself in front of that MONSTER to save him.
But luckily, they stayed in perfect sync.
As they ran further, the monster became smaller and smaller. Starcross was panting, her paws thudding against the ground. Running wasn't her best ability. She hated running ; it always made her dead tired. And she never knew she could run so fast!

Cali didn't know what to do. She wouldn't mind going back to the cave and sleeping but she couldn't leave her wingman. "I'll do whatever he does. I can't leave my wingman to die." she said firmly. If Dempsey wanted to stay out here and kill himself he'd have to kill her too.
