Okay, this is a short-write. I was wondering, what if Ravenpaw never left ThunderClan to go live with Twolegs? What if he became a warrior with Fireheart and Graystripe? And I wrote this! Also, thanks Duskpaw fo rthe main idea!
Obviously, I forget about warriors not being able to talk after their ceremonies, so just forget that. ;D
Any contructive critism is welcome! Here it is:
Fireheart and Graystripe's hearts pounded with anxiety for their loyal companion as Ravenpaw sprung up onto the highrock. Firepaws soul fluttered at the thought of Ravenpaw becoming a warrior. He could sense nervousness tickling Graystripe's stomach, but he knew that the sleek black cat would be a very faithful warrior.
"Ravenpaw, you have worked long and hard to learn and follow the warrior code. You have trained well, and it is time for you to become a warrior." Bluestars bluish-gray fur rippled in the breeze and the moon shone brightly against her pelt, reflecting Silverpelt. Silently, she dipped her head in respect.
Ravenpaws fierce fern eyes flamed with pride.
"Ravenpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" The honorable leader queried.
Ravenpaw bowed bashfully. "I do." Bluestar looked up towards StarClan. "Then under the cats of StarClan, I commend you your warrior name. Ravenpaw, from this day on you will be known as Ravenclaw. StarClan respects your noble soul and sees fine things coming for you."
"Ravenclaw! Ravenclaw!" The clan chanted, sending pride lurch up Ravenclaws veins. Fireheart and Graystripe bounded over to their friend.
"Congratulations!" Graystripe exclaimed, nuzzling his trusted clanmate. Ravenclaw's sleek pelt glistened as he beamed.
"Thanks," he replied timidly. "You two deserve a congratulations as well." Fireheart and Graystripe turned to each other, having been named warrior heartbeats before Ravenclaw. Fireheart couldnt think of a cheerier moment. He gazed at his two lifelong friends. Slowly, his stare rippled throughout the clan. He noticed Yellowfang, the snappy medicine cat and her tender apprentice, Cinderpaw.Runningwind's eyes were fiery with happiness as he admired the new warriors. Fireheart's gaze landed on Tigerclaw, the clan deputy.
Tigerclaw's fore claws flexed with anger as he glared at Ravenclaw. Fireheart gulped as the dark tabby began to pad over to his friend. His heart lurched as Ravenclaw was talked to for a heartbeat, and then the black cat turned to them.
"Tigerclaw wants to speak to me," he informed them, his voice wobbly.
Fireheart's eyes flooded with fear. "No!" He yowled a bit too loudly. "Don't you remember what he probably wants to do to you? You aren't safe. You can't fight him alone!"
Graystripe nodded slowly, agreeing with the ginger tom.
Ravenclaw flexed his long claws. "I'm sure well be fine, thank you. I believe now that I am a warrior, I can take care of myself." he snarled as he leapt away, not feeling any of the uneasiness that he felt earlier.
Ravenclaw's harsh words dug through Fireheart like five sharp claws raking across his flank. He flinched at his friends tone as Ravenclaw hesitantly padded after Tigerclaw.
Graystripe scuffled his paws against the cold stone they were standing on. Fireheart blinked back fear. He'll be okay, he convinced himself. Hes a warrior now. What could Tigerclaw possibly do to him?
Fireheart and Graystripe had a hard time getting to sleep that night. Fireheart examined the warriors den which he had longed to sleep in ever since he joined the clan, but somehow that wasnt important. Ravenclaw still hadnt returned. Graystripe rolled over so he was breathing into Firehearts whiskers. "What do you think they're talking about?" he asked. "Surely they wouldn't chat for this long?" Firehearts eyes clouded with fear. Where was Ravenclaw?
As the morning sun peeked over the bushy fir trees tops, Fireheart and Graystripe awoke with a start. For a heartbeat, Fireheart was perked up. But then it dawned on him that Ravenclaw was not inside the warriors den, and the thought of death flickered in his mind. Dont be mouse-brained, Fireheart told himself. Ravenclaw is probably on the dawn patrol.
But when Fireheart emerged from the warriors den, the dawn patrol was just returning, and among the four cats of Mousefur, Runningwind, Longtail, and the pretty ginger she-cat Sandstorm, Fireheart saw no sleek black pelt of his friend. Frantically, he paced back and forth. Perhaps he went out to hunt early, Fireheart assured himself. But as dawn ticked on, Fireheart began to doubt this excuse. He couldnt take it anymore. "Bluestar!" he yowled, dashing towards the bluish-gray leader who was gently cleaning herself in her den. Startled, Bluestar jumped as Fireheart came darting in. Gasping for breath, Fireheart was prepared t to spill the whole story when he heard an ear-rattling screech coming from Willowpelt.
Dozens of Clan cats came flooding out of their dens to the thick undergrowth where Willowpelt stood. Wailing, Willowpelt pointed with her light gray tail to a dark unmoving body hidden behind the gorse. The gray she-cat's pale eyes flooded with pain and sorrow. Bursting through the crowd, Fireheart stumbled upon the body of Ravenclaw.
Fireheart gasped, touching his pale pink nose to Ravenclaw's head. An icy chill greeted him, and the ginger warrior pulled back immediately. Silently weeping, he crouched down before the horrendous sight as Graystripe shoved through the hordes of cats blocking the death scene. The silver tom was shocked, and took much longer to drink in the dreadful news before crouching to grieve with Fireheart.
Tigerclaw's whiskers twitched at the sight of his perished apprentice. Fireheart noticed a gleam of pride beneath the tabby toms thin lashes as Tigerclaw let out a very convincing yowl in protest.
Sandstorm padded up to Fireheart, and Fireheart turned to see her emerald eyes tearing with misery. Her sandy flank brushed against his. "I'm sorry," she whispered hoarsely between sobs. Fireheart couldnt purr, although he longed too. He rasped his tongue over Sandstorms soft, curved ears as they both lay down beside the dead black lump to sit vigil.
Maybe things could have been different, Fireheart reasoned with sadness. If only we had helped him escape in time...
I thank Scarclaw for the AWESOME pic you drew me and i am glad and happy that i am going to put in ma sig. =3(now i can have people see you AWESOME art work!!!!
