Warrior Cats: The Four Clans

Rainpelt nodded. "Yes, thank you, Rosetail. I hope I'm not being too much of a burden." She knew it was their jobs as warriors to care for the queens and elders, but she just hated having to rely on another to survive. Especially if she was going to be categorized with the elders.
Suddenly, the high pitched squeal of Leafkit interupted her from her thoughts. "Daddy!" Rainpelt whipped her head around and saw Skyleaf padding into the nursery, their kits scrambling up to meet him.
"Hey guys!" he purred, licking each of them in turn. "I hope you're not giving your mother too much troubled." He looked up at his mate and winked.
Rainpelt giggled. "No, not yet. But I can only imagine how it's going to be when they get used to walking!"
Skyleaf chuckled and padded over to her, licking her on the neck affectionately. "Sorry I've been scarce..." he apologized quietly.
Rainpelt licked him between the ears. "You're a warrior. You have more important things to do than sit here in the nursery all day."
"I'd rather be with you."
The queen blushed. "No you wouldn't. You'd go insane; almost as insane as I'm going. I hate having the other's waiting on my every whim."
"I'll take care of you, Mother," offered Twilightkit.
Rainpelt smiled and licked the he-kit on the head. "I know you will, darling."
"Daddy?" mewled Crowkit. "Will you teach us some fighting moves?"
Skyleaf looked at Rainpelt questioningly. When Rainpelt shook her head he turned back to the kits. "Sorry, Crowkit. Lightwing is already busy enough, and I don't think she needs to worry about you all beating each other up." He winked playfully. "You'll get plenty of that when your apprentices."
The kits groaned. "Come on, you four," Rainpelt purred. "It's time to eat." She rolled over on her side as the four tiny kits scrambled over to her belly and began to suckle.

"Thank you, Rosetail." Rainpelt turned to Skyleaf. "Are you hungry, love?"
Skyleaf shook his head. "Nah, Mosstail and I ate on patrol."
"Mosstail!" Rainpelt cried. "Mosstail and Featherwhisker haven't seen the kits yet, have they?"
Skyleaf smiled crookedly. "Actually, they have." Rainpelt looked at her mate puzzled. "They came when you all were asleep. W-we didn't want to wake you."
Rainpelt narrowed her eyes, hating that even her mate was treating her like an elder. "Well, would they like to see them awake? Or are they only interested in them while they're sleeping?"
Skyleaf chuckled. "I guess they'd like to see them awake. Mosstail does seem to have a soft spot for the little scraps." He stood up and padded out of the nursery. "Mosstail, Featherwhisker, wanna see the kits?"
Rainpelt heard the sound of pawsteps racing toward the nursery. Suddenly, Mosstail scampered into the warm den, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "A-are they awake?" he asked quietly, though his voice cracked from excitement.
"Yes, Mosstail," Rainpelt giggled, waving her tail to invite him closer.
Dapplekit looked up from her suckling, her eyes wide with wonder. Leafkit looked up also and she tilted her head. Twilightkit and Crowkit soon followed. "Who's this, Mother?" Crowkit squeaked.
Rainpelt saw Mosstail's eyes light up with joy. "This is your father's brother, Mosstail, and his mate, Featherwhisker."
Immediately, Leafkit leapt up and bounded toward the new cats. "Hi Mosstail! I'm Leafkit!"
"Why hello, Leafkit!" Mosstail said happily.
Featherwhisker smiled and padded over to Rainpelt. "When it comes to dealing with cats his own age, he's more crabbier than a badger with a hurt paw, but when it's kits..." She shook her head disbelievingly.
Rainpelt laughed. "Well, he'll make a wonderful father someday."

OOC: Is Mossfang currently a queen in the nursery?

Nightpaw whipped around from where he was sorting herbs. "Oh, Mossfang. No, she's not here. I think she's on a patrol near IceClan. But I can give you some poppy seeds." He shook a dried poppy head and allowed Mossfang to lick the fallen seeds up. "They will help you to get some rest. Are your kits due soon?" He added, trying to spark a friendly conversation.

Nightpaw nodded thoughtfully. "I'll try to get her attention. For now, get a lot of rest, and maybe talk to Rainpelt a bit. She can help you out-after all, she's just had kits."
