Here's the basic sketch. I sketched in shadow lines, as you can see...

When I colored it, unfortanutely, the shadow lines were blocked, so I had to shadow it by hand. I dont really like the background or shadows, but im trying to improve.

That's really cool! I really love the cartooney style of the shadows.
However, if you didn't want the shadows to be cartooney (although I don't care either way), then you can use the Smudge tool to smudge them! :D

Yeah, at first, I wanted it not cartooney, and I tried the smudge tool, but then I didn't like it much, and I left it without smudge, because I love drawing cartooney things :P 

In fact, I recently got a wireless scanner/copier/ printer, so I'm going picture crazy, I have a new picture coming soon, and then I have one of my new Milo and Otis show. It's pretty cartooney XD
