Duskpaw sighed her last breath as she lay in a puddle of her own blood. She looked up one last time, and her eyes found what they were searching for, her love, Eaglepaw. She closed her eyes for the last time and darkness engulfed her. Suddenly a bright light burst ahead of her. She blinked and closed her eyes to block the light. It dimmed slightly and she opened her eyes. She was in a plain, covered in grass. Well, it looked like grass. At the bottom of each stem was a star. It was a star-filled field. "Where am I?" She asked quietly to herself, completely alone. The beauty was un-real. This place couldn't exist, could it? It was much too beautiful. Was she dreaming? "This is The Field of Eternal Peace." A sorrowful voice meowed. Her head whipped around. "Who are you?" She asked, sarching frantically. "Don't worry young one." The pained voice continued. "I am not here to harm you." A starry shape appeared, in the form of a slender she-cat. "Who are you?" Duskpaw meowed. "I am Bluestar, leader of ThunderClan." The blue-gray she-cat meowed. "But, ThunderClan is a fable." Duskpaw whispered, not believing what her eyes saw. "It is not. It is just a Clan that lived far away. StarClan stretches over many territories." Bluestar answered patiently. "Does ThunderClan still live?" She asked curiously. "I have no way of knowing. I must stay and welcome new cats. I cannot travel that far to see if my Clan is still alive and well." She meowed sadly. Her job of greeting the newly arrived burdened her much. "Wait...does that mean...I'm...dead?" She asked, her eyes widening. Bluestar sighed sadly. "I'm afraid you are correct." She meowed sorrowfully. "But I can't be dead! What about Eaglepaw?!" She meowed, almost yowling. "If he is true to your love, then he shall love you still. But his 'sight' may be diverted to another cat in your abscence. Duskpaw gasped. "But...I never got to tell him..." She broke off. "And I'm sorry for that." bluestar meowed, guessing what she would say next. Another gasp came from Duskpaw. "I'll never be a warrior now!" She cried. "Not exactly." Bluestar meowed, a slight smile dawning on her face. "What do you mean?" She asked, confused. If she was dead, then that meant that she wouldn't be able to become a warrior, as her leader and her Clan wouldn't be there to do it. "It will be slightly different, but I can make you a warrior. The only thing is, I have to do it here. Before we reach StarClan. Once you place a paw in StarClan, there is no turning back." Duskpaw looked up. "I want to." She meowed simply. Bluestar nodded. "I, Bluestar, former leader of ThunderClan, look down upon this apprentice who has worked hard to learn the ways of your noble code. She has died in her training for her clan, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Your name will now be Duskheart." Bluestar meowed. Even though no one was there to cheer Duskhart on, she didn't care. She was a warrior. "Thank you Bluestar." She meowed, bowing her head as Bluestar stepped over to her and she licked the former leader's shoulder. "Are you ready to see StarClan and make your home there?" She asked. "No, but let's go." She meowed, waiting for Bluestar to take the first pawstep. The former ThunderClan leader chuckled and began walking up on the paw-trodden path. Her paws slipped into the ancient cat's pawprints, and it filled her with confidence.

"Everyone dies eventually. Once you are born, you begin to die."
"That was not comforting either!"
"It is the way of the Creed. Usually our deaths are violent but quick."
