Chapter 7 It turned out that ShadowClan was at the RiverClan camp, although RiverClan hadn't been happy to share their territory. Birchpaw noticed that despite how his leader had helped the weak clan, whenever he walked by, the ShadowClan cats gave him and his clanmates defiant stares. However, this did not matter to him, because he always had Creampaw. Soon after the fox attack, Birchpaw had decided to reserve his heart for Creampaw and Creampaw only. Even if they couldn't be together, Birchpaw would still love her, and he could be with her in his dreams. Creampaw never said a word about love or mates around Birchpaw, but she acted as if the two of them were best friends. "Birchpaw," called Creampaw. "I want you to meet my littermates!" Birchpaw padded over to Creampaw, who was sitting beside two she-cats. Creampaw smiled, and straightened her back. "Birchpaw, this is Sunpaw," meowed Creampaw. She gestured toward a pretty golden-orange she-cat with lustrous green eyes. The cat dipped her head, and stepped toward Birchpaw. "Hello," she mewed. "Creampaw has told me a great deal about you." Sunpaw laughed, and she gave Birchpaw a respectful lick on the shoulder. Birchpaw blushed. Creampaw told her sister about me! He quickly looked away to hide his grin. I hope that she thinks of me as more than a friend...Birchpaw adored everything about Creampaw. He wanted her to love him back more than anything else. His attention flickered back to Creampaw's littermates. Creampaw was flicking her tail toward a slender light brown she-cat with jet black spots, and icy blue eyes. "And this is Wavepaw," she stated. Wavepaw examined Birchpaw with big blue eyes. "So this is your new mate," she teased. "He's actually quite good-looking!" Creampaw glared at her sister. "He's not my mate!" she protested. She glanced at Birchpaw anxiously, and looked back at her sister. "He's only a friend!" "Whatever..." Wavepaw rolled her eyes. "Anyways...Hi Birchpaw, it's nice to meet you!" Birchpaw twitched his ear nervously. Did Creampaw really act like his mate? He felt his heart flutter uncontrollably. Then, realization struck him. It's impossible, thought Birchpaw. She would never love me. He greeted Wavepaw with an awkward lick. Wavepaw leaned in close to him. "She adores you more than you think," she whispered. Birchpaw took a quick step away from Wavepaw. It was as if she had read his mind! Birchpaw shook his head. Wavepaw was probably joking around, he thought. Creampaw walked over to him. "What did that nasty rogue tell you?" she queried. Birchpaw looked at Creampaw, searching her face for an expression, but her eyes were filled with emptiness. "Oh...nothing,"he lied. "She just said that you're a good hunter." Creampaw narrowed her eyes suspiciously, and snorted. "Come on, let's go." Creampaw padded away with her tail down.
We all have our moments: A moment to cry, a moment to laugh. A moment to be held, a moment to be let go. A moment to be sad for not having what we want, and a moment to be happy with what we got.
Yeah, we all have those moments. And I advise you not to put them to waste.
