Prologue
The Warrior paced quietly through the undergrowth of the forest. He did not know what he was tracking, though he was sure he needed to go this way, and as silently as possible. A mouse scuttled to the side, away from the cat; he ignored it, for it was nothing more than a distraction. The cat emerged from the undergrowth. Before him sat another cat, whom he recognized as Diamondstar, the former leader of SnowClan. He dipped his head. "A war approaches," the Leader said quietly, looking to the sky. The Warrior followed his gaze; the sky was glazed with red. "If left unchecked, every Warrior in this forest will die..." The Warrior stared at him. "Is it not avoidable?" he asked calmly. Diamondstar nodded. "What, then, must be done? Surely at least one of the three Clans has to survive?" "And they can," Diamondstar answered. "Though you can not stop it, you can prevent most of the deathes..." "How?" the Warrior asked, but it was no use. Diamondstar looked away, and the clearing began to fade. "Wait!"
Don't worry about it; I get confused with these types of things all of the time. :)
Chapter I
Brokenheart opened his eye. He was laying in the center of the Warriors den; a small, underground cave just below the surface of his camp. He listened to the soft breathing of several of the cats around him; they slept peacefully, he could tell, unlike he had... He lifted himself to his paws. Snow sat at the opening to the den. He had expected so much; leaf-bare always brought snow to their territory. He silently walked out of the den. To his surprise, the camp was already fairly active. Across from his position, Jadefur and Greenleaf watched as their four kits played together in a pretend battle. It seemed to be Levikit and Emeraldkit against Dawnkit and Skykit. He let out a small laugh; it always made his day to watch the tiny kits playing like this. In front of the apprentice den, Lightningpaw, Stormpaw and Badgerpaw were busy eating mice and sharing tongues. Brokenheart watched as Swiftfoot approached them, spoke a few words and giving a quick nod in Brokenheart's direction, and then walk away. Probably telling Lightnignpaw to go out on a patrol with me, he assumed. He approached the pile of fresh-kill, picked out a small rabbit, and then sat down to eat, just as Lightningpaw approached him. "Brokenheart," he said, dipping his head as a sign of respect. Brokenheart returned his greeting. "Swiftfoot would like for you to lead the dawn patrol today. She says to take me and another Warrior." "Very well," Brokenheart replied. "We'll go as soon as I'm finished with this." Lightningpaw nodded in understanding, and then walked back over to Stormpaw and Badgerpaw. Brokenheart stared after him thoughtfully, and so did not notice the approach of another cat.
