From a Lions Maine. ch.5 up (i think i am keeping the name.)

Chapter 1
Intro to my wonderful life

I walked into my grandparents living room. They were rolling up all of their antique rugs and putting all of the light colored furniture in a big truck. My grandpa was a cool guy, but my grandma can't live without him, so in conclusion I am moving. She thinks she is protecting me, lifting the burden of having to see her cry by sending me off to some random new home. She is going to use her time without someone to watch over to cry her eyes out, she probably won't stop until she doesn't have anymore tears to cry. I haven't had enough tears to cry for... years. As in since i was 9. Both of my parents died in a car accident- tradgic, I know. I am way over it. The past five years all happened in a blur. I only have a couple good memories and those are just about as pretty as watching a mountain lion devour your 20 pound cat, actually that happened. Now I am a vegetarian. Enough about these small details. My name is Jay. I thought it was a guys name and that is was just a nickname when I was little. I was wrong, my birth name is Jay Tegre, the birth certificate proves it. I grew to like that name. When I look in the mirror I am most definatly satisfied with how I look. Usuallly 14 year old girls don't like the way they look, I decided not to waste time doing that anymore. I have dark brown hair, almost black that is in long loose curls down to the middle of my back and side bangs that sweep across my forehead. I am pretty pale, but I absolutely love my deep big blue eyes. I know how modest. Just one more thing.... my grandma is sending me to Africa.

Chapter Two
I sat waiting my flight to take off. Even though I knew it would be to late to get more needed supplies i went over in my head if i had brought everything that I needed to last for a week untill the rest of my stuff arrives. The deal was the rest of my stuff will be flown in once I get settled, stuff like furniture and the rest of my 'wardrobe' Pajamas, toothbrush, clothes, hair straightener, cell phone, computer. They took away my shampoo and toothpaste... well they are annoying..... and yes, got my cat, right next to me! Don't worry I am not talking about my devoured cat, that would be impossible!! I am talking about Max. The number one best cat, out of the 14 cats I have owned. He will follow me everwhere, anywhere, all the time. It doesn't matter if it is inside or out, it doesn't matter if the ground hurts his pads he is by my side all the time. No matter how trustworthy he is, he isnt my "bff". I have hired human beings to take on that terrible role. I have to say goodbye to my 2 best friends, as they have to say goodbye to me. I did that this morning. They pretty much bathed in their own tears, as for me, like at my grandpa's funeral, I just sat there staring off into space. Looking back now, I can image thier faces with so much intensity it seems like they are standing right in front off me waiting for the plane to leave from the abnormally small port in Maine. I could invision Jake's long blonde hair that almost completely covered his eyes, but because of his almost neon blue eyes, the tops of them can be seen through his silky bangs. Standing right next to him in my day dream was Riley, for some reason I always notice her emreld eyes first, even over her fire red hair. She always brings back her bangs into what she calls a pump, Jake and I agree that wen Riley grows up she will be a model, with her pin straight red, never knotted hair that falls to her butt, her intense green eyes, her perfect tan skin, and not to mention she weighs about 90 pounds. And naturally! She had never even been on a diet!! That is her calling. Jake is going to be a director for a movie, its his passion. Me, once again left behind in the dust. I mean, don't get me wrong I have tried many things, and I loved many of them: acting, singing, dancing, gymnastics, the cello, swimming, too many to count. But none of them are 'job material' nothing that i could make money out of... or at least live off of. Traveling to Africa is certainly not going to help me find what I should do or where I should go in my life. I looked out the window. As a matter of a fact... where i am right now?!? With a poof my friends were gone.

Chapter 3
I buckled my self once again as the captain instructed. We were finally coming in for a landing. I was kinda tired but I knew that when i got to my new home i would just slip away to find somewhere to sleep.
After going through security in America... in Africa its like like walking though an empty park! I went though a metal detector once, that's all! When I got out of the airport I looked around. I had arrived in South Africa. To be more specific... Seychelles. It's down there on the economy charts... why couldn't my grandma send me to somewhere were I could prosper and live a healthy life?? That's a good question. Sadly, sometimes good questions don't have an answer. The old ruined car arrived, and a polite man opened the door for me.
He said "Jay? Jay Tegre?" with an unsual accent.
I nodded and hopped in. This small car was going to drive me to the middle of the city, where my new family will pick me up and somehow we will get to Kenya. In Kenya we will travel to a Rift valley province called Nandi. The only reason my new family is going to pick me up here in Seychelles is because they are picking up my new sister too. My grandma says I will have a large family. I am not used to that, never had any siblings. The man's accent was heavy but I understood him.
"S-so you like it here?" I nodded.
"I haven't been here very long and I am already confused."
His head went up and down showing he understood. "And you are going to the.. Camara family?" he questioned me.
Once again I nodded, I guess I do that when I am nervous. "That's what my grandma told me..." He pulled over to the side of the dusty road.
"Look don't be nervous Jay. Just take a look into the lion's mane!" He leaned into the back of his seat and the dry, dry savanna came into veiw. Just in the deserted tall grass, I thought i caught a glimpse of some kind of light tan animal, a lion, but I blinked and it was gone. I looked at the driver his huge brown eyes looking into my blue ones. His shirt was crazy colorful. He had to be at least 30. I wondered if he had a wife and kids. It would suck to have this job, driving around to who knows where instead of working from home, but I guess thats the only way to to live here in Africa
"Thanks... and what's your name?" and the tables turned... now I was questioning him.
"Just call me D."
"Okay." My nodding had stopped. Magic.
For the next 2 hours I sat there watching the flat land rolling with plants pass by.
I knew that I had taken a peek at the lion's mane. Just as D. had told me to do.

Chapter 4
"This is your stop Miss Tegre." The driver said pulling up into a pretty dumpy town.
He reminded me that my family would pick me up here along with my new sister and somehow we would get to Kenya. I got out of the car. Waved goodbye to D. and looked around. I found two nice looking people, obviosly married yelling my name, Jay. That had to be them, I walked up to them.
"Jay?" The male said with a heavy accent.
I just nodded and followed them when the female motioned for me to. We walked for a couple hours not saying anything. The guy was holding half my stuff and I was holding the other half. In my pocket I felt my cell phone rub against me. The iPhone. The best phone on the planet. In my other pocket my credit card (yes, credit card) and a couple hundred dollars moved around. I let Max out of his fancy canvas carrier, I had been holding and let him walk beside me on the moisture poor land. He let out a couple meows if he heard or saw something moving but it was just something like a mouse. Finally we arrived at what looked like out destination. It was a tiny hut and a small girl, who looked to be about 5 came running up to the couple. They started talking but I couldn't hear what they were saying, i could barely distinguish whether they were speaking English or not. I followed the little girl into the back of the poorly made hut. In back, was a helicopter, just my luck.
"To Kenya!!" Shouted the small girl.

Chapter 5
I have decided not to tell you about the helicopter ride, one to save you from hearing about it, and 2 so i don't have to relive it.
Thanks for your understanding.
So we arrived in Kenya and I had figured out something that my grandma must have 'forgotten' to tell me! I am going to a foster home. I know, crappy. On the brighter side I found out my foster sister and parents can speak english fluently, it's great I spent 49 hours trying to learn whatever languages they speak here. Sorry, I am just a little bit frustrated right now. Anyway, tomorrow I begin schooling, no I am not learning, I am teaching! Oh joy. A bunch of grimy fingered little kids to teach the abcs too. I tried texting Jake and Riley, but I have no bars in my dump of a home. I forgot to tell you about my luxurious house, wait... no I didn't because there is no luxury here.
I feel really bad for the kids who had to completely grow up here. Let me explain why. We get breakfast and dinner, no lunch, i have to share a bed with a 5 year old boy who calls himself Panther, and i have an uncountable amount of chores. Oh believe me it's just going to get worse
. But I will not be collecting sympathy. They took away my computer, most of my furniture, and some of my clothes. I got to keep my cell phone!! Yay! Not! What good is it out here anyway. Maybe there was this whole confusion thing with the airport and my grandma, maybe she said I would like one ticket to Italy, but they thought she said Africa, or maybe not. I woke up this morning my third week in the foster house. It was two stories and handmade by Gori my foster dad along with the 'housekeeper' Huio. I am the oldest kid there. In order is me, Liko (12, girl), Mipos (12, guy), Ghui (8, guy), Fuyi and Auii (7, girls), Tefiro (6, boy), Panther (5, boy), Dionim(4, boy), Aeio (2, girl), and Ciue (2 months, girl). There is a rumor that another 13 year old girl Orli is coming today. I think i have a plan to escape this place, the only problem is where would I go. I turned on my IPhone and started watching a movie, Secondhand Lion. Aeio ran over to me and sat on my lap. I need to get out of here!!!
