The Haunted Footsteps of Kristeene Littlefield- A Nancy Drew Mystery [Chapter Two Up!]

Dear Readers,

Hey ya'll, I decided to write some Nancy drew fan ficition. If you've played Curse of Blackmoor Manor or another Nancy Drew computer mystery, it's based off of those. She's a teen detective with another mystery to solve. I hope you read, even if you're not a fan of her. I promise you will know what I am talking about 99% of the time!

Yours truly,
Moony

Chapter One

Nancy's pale fingers clutched the letter, her hand shaking almost hard enough to jerk the important paper right out of her slippery grip. The pounding on the stairs echoed through the attic, and Nancys terrified gaze flew over the door. She slowly crept up to the door, shivering as she held out a quivering hand with elegant fingers. Gently, they grasped the glass knob, carefully turning. The door creaked opened, revealing

Nancy gasped as she was awakened from her nightmare. The mansion she was staying at always gave her the creeps. She glanced around her fancy bedroom, admiring the mesmerizing wallpaper and detailed accents. She especially adored the antique mirror propped up in a dusty corner, the glass still reflecting flawlessly. Her eyes turned to the handsome picture of Ned Nickerson perched on her lovely white nightstand. She smiled.

She shook her thoughts away as she remembered why she was here: she was to help the nice gentleman, Lars Worfred, figure out why his picky little daughter was acting so strangely. Elizabeth has unique tastes and would not settle for less, and recently she appeared to be glazed over and completely mindless. Her grades had also received a dramatic drop, and nobody could come to sum up why. Every time Nancy saw here, her hazel eyes appeared distant and scarred, her fingers rattling against any object she touched. Something had happened to Elizabeth, and Nancy was determined to figure out what.

Nancy rolled slowly out of her comfy, fancy-made bed, and she slipped into her casual detective clothes and cap. She walked gracefully down the clunky stairs, her small heels barely making a sound. She arrived in the kitchen to see Lars already awake, a contagious grin plastered on his face.

"Good morning Miss Drew, how was your sleep?" he queried.

"Quite lovely, thank you." Nancy replied kindly. "Your bedrooms are so beautiful, its almost impossible to not have a peaceful sleep." She didnt mention the haunting dream she had had, but she might as well lay down a slight lie if she wanted to do any snooping.

"This is good news," he nodded happily. Then, dropping to a whispering tone, he added, "Any news on my daughter?"

Nancy shook her head shamefully. "No, Mr. Worfred, I have yet to do a full investigation." She added with caution, "However, I assure you I will most definitely work on that today. Is Elizabeth awake yet?"

Lars shook his head. "No, not quite yet, that night owl. Feel free to chat with her once shes had her morning bagel, though. You won't get much out of her until shes had her bagel." He informed her with a chuckle. Nancy forced a giggle, then returned to fixing up a cup of herbal tea.

Much too soon, Elizabeth strut into the kitchen, bobbing around her father like a hummingbird. Her golden curls were swopped into a messy ponytail, and her long, white nightgown reached her ankles and had a little pink bow at the collar.

"Father, can you please get me my bagel?" Elizabeth asked.

Lars gave her an annoyed look. "Elizabeth, please take care of yourself. The bagels are merely on the top shelf. Just  climb up on the counter and fetch them."
Elizabeth was not pleased. She huffily stomped over to the counter, peered up, then turned to Nancy.

"Will you please retrieve those bagels?" she demanded innocently.

"No Nancy, please do not!" Lars cried. "Elizabeth, fetch them yourself!"

Elizabeth was angry. She shot her father a grumpy glare, then pulled herself onto the counter and retrieved the bagels, making sure to knock over a salt shaker while she was at it. She dashed out of the room.

Lars sighed, then fetched a sponge. Nancy offered to help, but he refused.

"A guest should not do chores like this," he explained. "Please drink your tea."

Nancy slowly finished her hot drink, then was left alone when Lars needed to run to an errand. She stared at the decorative dining room, the chandelier a gorgeous gold, and the tablecloths a peaceful, comforting blue that melted Nancys stress. She wished she knew what was haunting Elizabeth so much. But then we all wish a lot of things, and most never happen. And Nancy was sadly aware of that.

I loved how you described the dining room. :)

People actually read it?? THANKS! Also, you don't just have to comment on my writing, you can comment on the actual story too, tell me your predictions, thoughts about the characters, etc. I love it when people discuss the story!

@Flight: AW thanks! I know, for some bizarre reason not many people here like 'em, but they own. Thanks!

@Night: Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like its description, I'm really trying to make it very descriptive and I like how you pointed out the parts you liked. ^^

Here's Chapter Two!

Chapter Two

Nancys knuckles gently rapped against Elizabeths door.

"Elizabeth? May I come in?" she questioned hopefully. "It's Nancy."

The door was nudged open a crack, and Elizabeth's distant hazel eyes appeared, peeking outside. Then she stretched open the door wider allowing them both to see each other fully.

"What is it?" Elizabeth asked impatiently.

Nancy stuttered. "I- um, wanted to see what you were doing. And maybe ask you some questions."

Elizabeth sighed. "It's my father, isn't it?" She said with her proper English accent. "He's been desperate ever since my condition. Hes quite the worrier, and I feel like Im always being watched. But I'm not sure if its by him... or something else."

Nancy gulped. "What something?"

Elizabeth shook her head quickly. "Never mind. I've said too much. You should go. But please, Nancy, do come back again." Her hazel eyes were sad and hopeful.

Nancy sighed. "Alright." She silently exited the young girls room, a little confused.

Why was Elizabeth so captured by something completely unexplainable? What did she feel her condition she mentioned was? And why did she feel like something was lurking around here? So many unanswered questions haunted Nancy, chilling her every bone. This mystery was beginning to unfold so quickly and steadily, she could hardly believe it.

The great clock in the hallway struck five o clock, and Nancy sighed as she headed upstairs. She was about to head for her bedroom when she noticed a little slip of paper wedged underneath a door. Nancy picked it up carefully. On it was a phone number, and by the looks it was some sort of company. Nancy quietly slipped it into her pocket as she tried to open the door it had been stuck under. Locked.

Who knew what could be hiding behind that door? Oh well, she'd figure it out eventually.

Dear Ned,

I've arrived at the Worfred Mansion safely and soundly, but I'm not sure how much lonegr I'll be safe and sound! It's definitely gorgeous here, but theres more to this mansion than I realized. Lars Worfred is a wealthy English man who is very busy with his work. He has a daughter, spoiled Elizabeth Worfred, who is less than friendly. Although a bit demanding, perhaps, after talking with her, I believe she really wanted my help. She seemed rather spooked, and Im ready to get to the bottom of whatever is frightening her.

While scoping the upstairs, I ran across a phone number on a slip of paper wedged under a door. The door was locked, naturally, and I have yet to call the number, but it may be important. I think Ill focus on meeting the other guests who live here or are staying here.
I'll talk to you soon (I hope!).

       Nancy
