Thornleaf nodded once and ran toward their leader. When he caught up, he panted, "What.. are we doin..g?" He sat down next to their sad Flazestar. "Are we searching for Owlscar?" he asked. When he mentioned his old mentor's name, tears trickkled down his face. "C'mon.." he finally said.
"Thornleaf... we're not searching for Owlscar... It's more like we're searching for a cure...," mused Flazestar, standing. Then she stretched by arching her back and then yawned. "Do you have any idea where Owlscar would be...?" asked Flazestar, trailing off at the end. Her voice was distant as was her emotions. They were something yet to be rediscovered by Flazestar's mind. Part of her accepted that Owlscar was probably dead somewhere, but the other side of her refused to believe it and contradicted what the sensible side said and argued that he was alive; just probably sleeping somewhere. As she thought, she had a dazed look, and her eyes looked like she was staring at something far away.

Thornleaf thought for a minute, then shook his head. "I last saw him with Featherstorm, but the he disapeared.." he sighed, thinking of his mentor and the new mother. "He was going to help take care of the kits, I left to do something, and woke up to find him gone!" His mind raced to the past when he last saw his mentor, the one who taught him so well, the one to loved him like a son. He sighed and licked his pelt, which was sticking out. He looked into Flazestar's eyes and saw gentleness.. and... Thornleaf shook his head. He couldn't see this, but he did. Flazestar half believed Owlscar was dead. The tom got up onto his paws. It was pretty much no doubt now. Owlscar has been gone for awhile, without a trace. He seemed loyal to his clan, and loved it to death. He couln't possibly have gone to live as a loner, or a kittypet. He most likely died. Tears welled up into Thornleaf's eyes, and he shook them away. There was a small chance.. far away, that Owlscar was alive, and they had to believe that. His heart intwined with their leader's, Thornleaf licked Flazestar's ears and mentioned to carry on searching.
Flazestar sighed, eyes dry from the harshness of losing battles that were already lost, despite the hard work and love, and encouragement, put into them. "Did Owlscar ever have a favorite spot, Thornleaf?" asked Flazestar, standing and opening her eyes after keeping them closed. The sudden flash of light made her cringe, but it was short, and she remained dazed from the light for only a short amount of time. "Where could the cure for this common madness be found?" she mused quietly to herself. "The insanity that plagues cats so often that no one has taken the time to solve it?"

Thornleaf shook his head. "His favorite spot was in camp... in the medicine cat den," he said sadly. Slowly, he shook his head. "Your the leader, you're going to have to make a patrol to find him.." he said slowly. He licked his ginger pelt, and continued. "We have to have proof he's dead, or I'll still be the apprentice. If he isn't dead, we can bring him back... though it's up to him." He sighed and smiled to himself. The duty was almost his... though it was bad to be his. Thornleaf.. the medicine cat, not Thornleaf, the medicine cat apprentice. It sounded good, but then he got back to reality. "Owlscar's not dead, Owlscar's not dead.." he chanted.
Listening to Thornleaf chant, her mind contradicted what he said. Owlscar's dead, Owlscar's dead, Flazestar's mind chanted wearily, tired from thinking. "Where did he usually collect herbs from?" asked Flazestar hopefully, ears perked up, hoping for an answer. Maybe they could check there. She trusted Thornleaf, and his ability to save a cat's life, but she wasn't ready to give up on Owlscar. Not until she knew he was dead, and with StarClan. But then again, maybe Thornleaf would see a sign he was dead. No... no, I shall still check, she thought.

"His favorite... near the big stream. It was him favorite.. lots of herbs and a pretty sight. Whenever he had a chance, he'd go there...." Thornleaf sighed. "I dunno.... you want me to check?" he asked. Inside, he was worried to find Owlscar dead there, his limp body lying on the ground without a vigil from his tribe. "We still need to have a vigil for him..." Thornleaf whispered. "If he's dead..." he added, looking at his paws. They were brown from mud, dried up mud, so that'd be an excuse for going to the stream instead of sayin 'I'm looking for Owlscar'."
"I'll go with you," she stated bluntly, all ready padding off in the direction of the stream. Her steps were quick, staccato, and barely touched the ground. Rather than her usual glide, her steps were tense, uptight. She felt like she was going into a battle. Adrenaline pumping, ready for almost anything. Almost, her voice echoed in her mind. Almost. Like how you were almost ready to face the fact that your family was dead, she spat at herself. "Almost," she breathed quietly. "Almost is a word to be used for the faint of heart, and the weak of strength. I am ready," she added weakly. "I am..."

Firepaw walked beside grovewind. He looked at the ground, deep in thought. What if he really is dead... He thought. He took his head. No...he can't be...he's alive somewhere....I promised I'd find him, even if it means throwingmaway my life... He signed and looked up. "where are we going anyway?" he asked

Thornleaf smiled at Flazestar and said, "Of course!" He licked her ear, to mention, follow me, and turned a sharp right. He walked straight into the forest, and made zig zag paths. Finally, he was at the stream, and turned left, following the stream. At the end, he stopped at a place with beautiful herbs, a pretty sight. There were juniper berries, cobwebs, watercress, catmint, and more. The stream was a clear blue and had just the right amout of moss hanging from the trees. Thornleaf looked at Flazestar. "We're here.." he whispered.
Ooc: want thorn and flaze to be a forbidden mate? and want to find owlscar here?
