Dolpha watched as the young pup ran off. He tilted his head. He glanced over at echo for a moment and then back to where raissa ran to. Alpha.... He thought. He turned to look at echo. Being alpha might be a good thing... He shook his head at the thought. His ears perked up high. "come on," he said to echo. "we should go back to the pack now."

Echo nodded. She turned her head and walked to Dolpha. She nudged her head against his strong shoulder. "Thank you.." she said absentmindedly. She didn't know why she said thank you but it seemed appropiate. "Dolpha.. have you ever considered being alpha?" she asked suddenly. "It'd be kinda great if you got the position.." she said with a sigh. " But, Oki is alpha now," she continued. "And so you can't be alpha.." She shook her head and walked past Dolpha. "Never mind.." she whispered.
Dolpha looked at her as she walked past him. "actually...." he began. He shook his head. "I wouldn't mind it but...." he stopped for a moment and stared at the ground. "oki is alpha so....I can't," the crickets chirping echoed through the night. The cold forest breeze brushed against his fur as he stared at the ground. His ears folded back.

"Thatcher?" asked Raissa, skidding to a halt in the middle of camp. No movements vibrated the ground beneath her paws, so she stood stock still. "I am sorry for running," she murmured, head bowing kindly, ears alert, forepaws lightly touching the ground beneath her, ready to lead her out of camp if a threat ensues her. She might now know the outside territory very well, but she knew how to lose a follower.
