"Liam of Golden Lake" he smiled his hazel eyes coming up from his plate of assorted berries and melons. "Nice to meet you J-Anel" he laughed. "Don't worry I won't make fun I'm a vegetarian." Liam didn't say why he was a vegetarian because it was to embarrasing. The real reason he wouldn't eat animals was he was afraid they would come back and get revenge on him. Plus it's just plain mean to kill them. They are brothers, sisters, moms, dads and he wouldn't want somebody slaying him for food.

"Well get there if its where we want to be and if not, well then I guess we never really lost anything in the first place."
Yvonne raised her eyebrows as she heard the strangely high voice of the boy (he sounded sick, to be honest; or like a girl, but she probably didn't have enough luck to meet another girl)--and J'Anel? What kind of name was that? Probably she heard wrong--the dining hall was louder than she would have expected--and so the girl tried to shrug it off, but the earlier sense that had nagged at her to sit next to this picky, blonde haired boy continued to bugger at her.
The dark haired girl scowled and stabbed at her food before she caught herself and retreated back into her shield of indifference borne from fiery hate of her family for sending her away. Part of Yvonne (a very, very small part that could easily have been destroyed, but a small part nevertheless) wanted to perk up and introduce herself the cheerful, carefree way that she would have done so at home, but annoyance, her mulish streak, and another unnamed emotion kept her stoically silent. She said nothing and neglected to introduce herself; the boys hadn't introduced themselves to her, so she would keep her mouth shut until someone talked to her specifically. Yvonne hated to butt in on things because she herself hated nosy people who stuck their noses where they didn't belong. However, despite her feelings for people who put their noses where they had no business being, the ebony haired girl still listened in to the conversation. She could hear some very interesting--or disturbing, depending on how you looked at it--snippets, and she listened in as she nibbled on the piece of bread she had. Such as this person. The guy was a vegetarian? Absolutely amazing. Could anyone get enough energy from not eating meat? She shook her head and finished the bread, stormy eyes casually sweeping her table before moving to her sponsor's.
Fuji sat listening intently to something, a grin breaking along his face before he laughed loudly and replying with something of his own that caused the table to either stare at him strangely or laugh. Someone glanced at her, talked to the brown haired boy, and then his attention was on her. Yvonne sent the tattle tale an icy glare before ducking her head, returning her attention to the food she had yet to finish.
Something told her that signing up as a page was more than she had bargained for.
Whatever. She just hoped that they would get to the physical activites soon--then Yvonne could become more accustomed to 'Xyun' and then she would have something to take her mind off her burning fury. Not to mention she hadn't had a good sparring match since the Captain of Guards of Winter's Reach had left on a counter raid and not come back in time to see her leave for Tortall.
ooc; holy cow i either don't post at all or ramble and post too much. >C
i guess that's how i get by in the world. :|

((Don't worry, souki, happens to me alll the timee. xD))
Janelle smiled at the boy who'd replied to her question. "Thanks, and nice to meet you, Liam the plant-eater." She made a mental note to eat meat at breakfast the next morning to get that in for energy. One of her uncle's favorite sayings had stuck to her. 'To get the energy of the fastest animal, eat it.' She only believed it when she was little, but she'd accepted it as part of her schedule to get meat in somewhere.
Janelle looked at the other boys. They were either too busy eating, or trying to get into the Senior Page conversation at the other end of the table. Then there was one guy with black hair and feminine features. Thank god not all these guys looked exactly like guys! She could fit in just nicely. But the black-haired boy had a completely blank face she'd seen on her father's Yamani visitors. Was this page Yamani? "Hello?" She waved her fork between the guy's eyes and his food.

Yvonne had been spacing out--she admitted it, she got bored even when she ate--and so the fork intruding between her meal and more annoyingly, her eyes, made her glance sharply up, eyes glinting once (you couldn't mistake that glint for something friendly even if you were half blind) as she searched for the culprit. "What," she deadpanned at J'Anel (seriously? She'd have to ask him for his name again later), "do you want." She raised her own fork and poked the other boy's away, fixing the twisted lavender eyes with a steady, level gaze of her own. Moonlight met cloudy grey and they locked for a moment as Yvonne waited for the other boy to state what she wanted.
"Okay," she said, slightly offended. This new guy sure didn't take to people, did he? "Angry, much? I'll just call you Sharptounge instead of asking you for your name like I did the others." She waved vaguely at the rest of the table. She wouldn't admit to herself that those silver eyes fixed on her in such a way scared her to death, but they sure did. Janelle didn't take to this guy very nicely. What put him in such a bad mood that he needed to snap at her as an answer? He sure wasn't Yamani, because they never showed anger, no matter how angry they actually were. They trained their emotions more than this guy had, for sure.
Then again, she did overreact to these sort of things internally.

She raised an eyebrow. "Angry? No, it's called being curt; I'm also not in the mood to be happy and sweet. If you want happy and sweet, then go somewhere else... Janelle." Yvonne nodded at J'Anel after purposely giving him a female name (what, they sounded the same!) and returned to eating her meal, eating slowly and methodically before arriving at the peas that someone had managed to slip onto her plate. She knew someone had put them there because, given a choice, the black haired girl never would have put something like peas into her food. Oh, she'd eat them, but she really preferred not to. Who could have gotten close enough to put the cursed green orbs on her plate...?
Fuji.
That was what he had been laughing at.
Che.
Yvonne popped the detested veggies into her mouth and gave her sponsor--who, to her immense annoyance, was laughing even harder at the sight of her calmly displayed irritation--a glare which he returned with dancing eyes. "I'll never get used to this place," she mumbled to herself, swallowing the greens and taking a sip of water.
Janelle blushed at the mention of her real name. She could tell by his tone that he'd meant it as an insult, but why did he have to guess her right name? Luckily, he had left her a good place to leave. She picked up her half finished potatoes without a word, dumping them in the trash and retreating to her room. She lay on her bed for a few minutes, getting control of her anger and despair. Only one day here, and somebody was already frustrated with and thought low of her. With a sigh, she turned her face into her pillow and flicked her finger at teh candle light, setting the fire out. No need to get up and see how pathetic her reflection looked in the window.

Yvonne merely nodded and waved good-bye to the effeminate male, ignoring her own obvious hypocrisy as she added, "Bye, Janelle." Her silvery eyes followed the dumping of the potatoes disapprovingly before the other girl disappeared--she assumed to her room. Shrugging, she poked at her empty plate before rising to put it away. Walking to Fuji, she poked the elder's shoulder roughly, interrupting his laughing. Disapproval flickered in his eyes once before it went out to be replaced by their usual jovial glittering.
"When do we start combat training?" she asked softly into his ear. The messy haired boy smirked and replied with a wink and a "You'll see," which in turn made Yvonne poke him one last time before she left. Maybe I'll get some training in myself before the official stuff starts, she mused to herself, winding through the hallways to her room. Part of the reason she had been kicked out was because she was too rough with those around her. Although she couldn't use a sword very well, she could fight hand to hand very well for someone her age. She wasn't half bad with a bow, either, but the most lacking part of her studies, besides swordsmanship, was practice as a mage. Yvonne had been told that she was very much Gifted, but despite having a storage most would kill for (also been told by family mages), she had been more focused on brawling with the estate guards to practice her magic like a nice little girl.
