Part One "You can't get me!" Songpaw squealed as her sister, Lovepaw, tried to catch her. Her beautiful brown pelt flew with the wind, her gray eyes twinkling with happiness. Lovepaw laughed. "Watch me!" She sped up, and Songpaw yelped. She turned her head back to look at her sister's beautiful white pelt and ran into their father, Brackenleaf. "Oops," she said, stepping back. Brackenleaf tried to look stern, though his mouth was twitching into a small smile. "What where you're going," Brackenleaf told his daughter. Songpaw smiled again. "Sorry," she said. Her father smiled. "It's okay. How about you go and eat something? I'm sure Ghostclaw and Tigerstripe wouldn't want to take you out hunting empty bellied!" He teased. Lovepaw's eyes lit up. "Hunting??!!" she asked. Her tail twitched with excitement and and her blue eyes glowed. "That's what I heard! Now go and eat something!" Songpaw and Lovepaw ran towards the fresh-kill pile and picked something to eat. "I can't believe we're going hunting," Lovepaw mumered. She licked her white pelt, her eyes shining. Songpaw nodded in aggreement. "Yeah," she said. "I mean, we've only been apprenticed for 1 week and we're already going HUNTING on a PATROL.." She breathed. "It's so exciting!" Songpaw took a bite out of her squirrel. She chewed it slowly; deep in thought. "If I could catch a starling, Ghostclaw would be SO proud of me!" She watched as her sister finished her mouse in a few famished bites. Songpaw did the same. Burrying their prey, the sisters said good-bye and went to go join their mentors. The sun was shining down hard; it was a bit after sun-high. Songpaw's brown pelt glowed. She sighed. "Ghostclaw, where are we going today?" she asked sweetly. Her eyes smiled for she already knew the answer. "Hunting patrol," Ghostclaw replied smiling back. "I think you're ready." Songpaw did a little bounce and then settled down. "Where are we going?" she asked politely. "Sunlake," he replied. "I think the place has a lot of prey there." Songpaw nodded. It made since. The beautiful lake had water and nuts, ideal for a little nut gathering for the squirrels during the sunny time of day. She followed her mentor deep into the forest as excited as a kit on the first day of outside. She was determined to catch some prey for the elders! Slowly, slowly.. Lovepaw thought. A beautiful, juicy vole was right in front of her. She wanted to catch it so badly. She missed her mouse and almost caught the squirrel. She NEEDED to catch this. The vole scuffled around, searching for something to eat. It was too distracted to notice the white cat. It's my time now, Lovepaw thought. She pounced right on top of the prey and killed it with a blow. "Yess!" Lovepaw squealed with excitement. Tigerstripe came out of the bushes. "Caught something?" he asked. Lovepaw nodded and held up her vole. Tigerstripe laughed and licked his apprentice. "C'mon, let's get back to camp. We have some cats to feed." Lovepaw smiled and followed the brown warrior to camp. Her heart bounced out of her chest. She sould be so proud to show her parents what she caught! Meanwhile, Songpaw wasn't having as much luck as her sister. She missed both the starlings she tried to catch, and the wind changed direction right when she was about to catch a mouse. "Bad luck," Ghostclaw said. He was right. Songpaw was so frustrated, but she knew that a starling would go into her paws. Sniffing the air, she smelled the familiar scent of the bird. Yess! she thought. Songpaw followed her nose and soon enough, it led to the bird. I can get this! Songpaw hissed in her mind. I need to catch it! She let her paws slide underneath her, leading the cat to the bird. About 1 foot away, Songpaw pounced. The starling tried to take flight, but Songpaw grabbed it and killed it before it could move. She grinned happily as Ghostclaw came towards her with his prey. "Good job," he said as he set the mice he caught down. "Let's get back to camp now. You did great today!"

I really, really like this!! :D I enjoyed reading it. You did very well with the cats' emotions; I could feel their excitement and pride bursting through the screen xDD However, may I suggest double-spacing the paragraphs? It was hard to read without losing my place. But i love this story. PMS! (post more soon) My favorite is Tellasong for obvious reasons XD (If you were in Allani, anyways) =33
Thanks so much Mooneh! I'm really excited about this; I have such a great idea for the storyline! And I'll put another space between the paragraphs. After I saw my first post, I agree it was kinda squishy XD Thanks again mooneh!!
Songpaw smiled happily as she brought back her fresh kill to camp. Wingflight, their mother, beamed proudly as she saw her daugher's first kill and Brackenleaf praised her with a large amout. Her green eyes shined proudly as Splotchpelt, the elder, thanked her greatly with sentences as "Wow! That's a LARGE bird!" and "Thanks again! It's wonderfull and the smell is making my mouth water!" Songpaw couldn't tell if she was just praising her or if she was really meaning it, but she still felt good anyway. After exiting the little dench underground covered by brackens, she hurried to the fresh-kill pile and met her sister drop the vole she just caught. Lovepaw's eyes shined proudly, and so did Songpaw's. Just seeing her sister have a successfull hunt made it feel like she did. She hurried up to her sister. "Hi!" she greeted her. Lovepaw turned around and smiled proudly. "Hi! Guess what? I caught a VOLE!!" Lovepaw bragged though she didn't really mean to. Instead of getting annoyed and mad, Songpaw smiled. "Great!" she answered. "I had luck too. I caught a starling!" Lovepaw gasped. "A starling? You've always wanted to catch one of THOSE!!" She breathed with enviness in her voice, but it wasn't bad jelousy, it was acutally good. Her blue eyes stared up into the clouds. "I hope I'll be the BEST warrior at hunting in the whole intire world!!" she whispered.
Lovepaw grabbed a tiny shrew and ate it up in a few big gulps. She sun was setting and the horizon was prettier than ever. She watched it in awe. Instead of the sky being bright and blue, it was purplish red. "It's be-u-ti-full!!" she sighed. Lovepaw licked her white pelt and her black paws. The paws tasted like the fresh outdoors and fresh grass. She liked the smell of it. Lovepaw heard yelps and squeals and turned around to see Heartpelt's two kittens, Wishkit and Snowkit, playing around chasing a butterfly. She smiled. It felt great to know that cats all around you had bad days and good days. She watched the kitties play around, squealing, until they finally caught the butterfly. Lovepaw smiled and remembered the days when SHE was a kit. It felt sooo boring to be sitting around all day in a little caved ground covered with moss, brambles, leaves, and bracken with barely any light streaming through. All Lovepaw EVER wanted to be was a warrior and she was acheiving her dreams now. She smiled and looked back into the dimming sky.
Songpaw yawned. The day was going away, night was approaching now. The sky went from blue, to gold, to purple, then black. She yawned again and stood up from the place she was resting. Turning around, Songpaw walked into the apprentices' den. It was a little dench not far away from the nursery. She smiled and remembered the days when she, as a little kitten, would watch the apprentices' den for hours, wishing she could just be apprenticed.. She entered the den. Most of the apprentices were sleeping, though some were still out and some were just about to sleep. She settled into her nest, next to Lovepaw's, of course, then licked her sticky paws from the prey she just ate. She smiled. The day was great. She caught her first bird! Songpaw yawned again. Maybe it was time to go to sleep.. She closed her eyelids so the her beautiful gray eyes were covered. Soon enough, sleep took control of her body and she was swept away into sleep.
