"Yeah," Kayden said with a slightly maniac smile. "And don't worry, you'll never be down in the dumps when I'm around." What the heck? I can't believe I just said that! he thought to himself. But remembering what she said about his embarrassment not mattering to her, he just grinned and winked a sparkling blue eye.
Shia laughed. "Close your eyes then, mr. monkey!" he said, smiling. "So what was the thing you wanted to tell me?" he asked. "Don't be afraid!" He continued to swing on the vines until he got close to town. Shia dropped down and made the vines disapear. He hugged Ashley. "So what was the thing you wanted to tell me again?" he asked.
Lucia laughed, "You know me too well." She looked and noticed that Ash and Shia had left the apartment. "I wonder if they went to get the other puppy? Hopefully it's an Australian Shepherd. I heard they're cute puppies." Bolt charged into the living room, a ball of string in his mouth, yipping as he went.

"Everyone dies eventually. Once you are born, you begin to die."
"That was not comforting either!"
"It is the way of the Creed. Usually our deaths are violent but quick."
Kayden laughed and turned red anyway. He chuckled as Bolt came running in. "Yet another invasion of privacy," he sighed jokingly, calling Bolt over. The dog jumped up on his lap and Kayden rubbed him behind the ears. "My goodness, you strange dog, can't we just have one moment to ourselves?"
Bolt barked as if in a denial of Kayden's request and Lucia laughed. She pulled the ball of string out of his mouth and tossed it across the room. "At least he doesn't understand...I hope..." She looked at the puppy, looking to make sure it didn't have any listening devices.

Her body was shaking, " Is...is it over? " She opened her eyes and gasped, " I like you. " She said under her breath, " Oh, gosh I'm stupid. I shouldn't have said that. " She still had her arms around his neck. Her bue eyes sparkled and her hair was flatened with the rain.

Kayden laughed as Bolt dashed off his lap in pursuit of the string. "Hey, you know, I can read animals' minds if I really try," he said thoughtfully. "Dogs are easiest because they're so emotionally close to humans...you know, Man's Best Friend and all that." He watched Bolt carefully, his every move, and closed his eyes, concentrating on only the dog, nothing else- String! String! String! Kayden burst out laughing as he sent the bark-like voice on to Lucia's mind.
Lucia burst out laughing, and finding it impossible to breathe, ended up wheezing. "That's awesome! When did you learn to do that?" She watched the puppy as it bounded after the string, tackled it, and ran straight back to Lucia. "Good fetch," she crooned and threw it again. It was how she knew to train a dog. Just keep doing it. Besides, Bolt liked fetching, or he seemed to anyway.

Kayden shrugged, still watching the dog. "Just was curious of it one day. I was like, Why not? So I tried it on a bird, it was...harder, but..." he laughed at the memory. "But strange. All it could think about was how it was going to fight this other bird for a mate." He heard Lucia's thoughts; she was wondering if Bolt liked to fetch. "Lemme see," Kayden muttered, closing his eyes again. He sent Bolt's thoughts on to Lucia - Wheeeee!!!! as the dog chased after the string.
"I'll take that as a yes," Lucia laughed, and was forced to take a deep breath, which sounded like a wheeze. "Oh dear. I haven't laughed that hard in a while." She wiped a tear from her cheek, still grinning. Bolt came back with the string, and this time, she threw it, but out into the corridor to the rooms, using her air to make it turn in the air and go into one of the rooms. "Fetch!" she called, and Bolt raced off, searching for the string.
