Prologue Every passenger screamed, a bloodcurdling, awful shriek that none of the five boys wanted to hear again.
"Please stay calm and fasten your seatbelts," came a female voice on the intercom. But the flight attendant's voice was shaking, and she stuttered as she spoke.
Conner glanced out the window, wide-eyed. All he could see was ocean, and it was rapidly growing nearer...
Two rows up, Ryan's heart was racing like a sports car. He was desperately trying to call his parents, too panicked to realize his cell phone would not have a signal...
Trey was breathing hard, harder than he ever had running track. He put his head in his hands and pleaded in prayer...
Jayden closed his eyes and vowed never to open them again. He decided to die with the names of his mother and father on his lips...
Nathan had taken all kinds of risks before -- skydiving, bungee jumping, mountain climbing -- but nothing compared to this. Now he knew what it felt like to be scared. This was the meaning of fear...
A small, deserted island was barely visible from the plane.
Two 16 year olds stood on the shore -- twins, a boy and a girl
. They watched in horror and awe as a small propeller plane crashed into the ocean...
Thanks guys! Dusky, I must agree, I also think it's my best...there's a LOT of character development to come. And they're all guys!!! Hahahaha...t'will be interesting.
Here's chapter 1! Or at least the first part...I know it's gonna switch off between characters, but I don't know if I should have more than one character's POV in one chapter, or if every time I switch characters, it should start a new chapter.
Advice?...
Anyway, enjoy.
Conner, Entry 1 - July 20th, 2 weeks after the crash
We didn't know each other until the crash. And even after that, none of us had any idea that we'd become like brothers.
We decided not to have a leader, and I actually think that was a good idea. Since there's an odd number of us, it works to vote for things.
I'm Conner, and I'm seventeen years old. I almost look Russian -- pale, pale skin, white-blonde hair, blue eyes. People say I'm quiet and shy. I say they're right. I keep my opinions to myself, and I don't like to be the center of attention.
Much unlike Ryan, who loves all eyes on him. He's sixteen; a little shorter than I. His skin is pale, too, but not as much as mine. He has brown hair and green eyes. He loves attention, and he loves to make jokes. He told us he took drama at his high school and always had the lead roles.
Trey is eighteen, the oldest ofall of us. He's got dark brown hair and blue eyes. You can tell he's outside a lot; his skin is really tan. He's really outgoing, like Ryan. Trey's very energetic and athletic, and the strongest of us by far. He tells us he was on the track team at his high school - we all believe him.
Jayden is the youngest; fifteen years old. He's really short - I'd guess 5'3". His hair is jet black; he has gray eyes and pale skin. I admit, he's a little creepy at first sight - until you see the laughter sparkling in his eyes. Jayden is definitely the most street-smart, even though he's the youngest. He surprised us all when we realized he has tons more common sense than any of us.
Finally, there's Nathan. He's seventeen. His hair is red, and he has pale skin (Trey is the only tan guy here), green eyes, and freckles. He looks a bit nerdy, but he is the hugest daredevil you'll ever meet. He barely thinks before he acts...I'd never say this out loud, but I doubt he'd survive here without the four of us to make him reconsider things. (Jayden is the best at that.)
So that's our crew...and we are alone on this island. We're sure of it; we searched the whole thing. We've got a camp in the forest, in a clearing near the shore. About a quarter of a mile away, a stream runs with fresh water. (Jayden pointed out that we shouldn't camp right next to the stream, in case there's a storm and it floods.) We have a large, wooden shelter we built - it's about the size of an average classroom.
We surprisingly managed to salvage several things from the plane. Plus, as it turned out, Trey was flying somewhere to meet up with his cousin and go backpacking, so he had a ton of tools and other stuff that we're putting to good use.
Trey had a bunch of notebooks to keep track of his backpacking - ten, in fact. We each took one and dried them out; we decided to keep journals while we're on this island, so when...I mean, if...we get home, we can tell people all about what happened here.
Anyway, now it's two weeks after the crash - July 20th. Jayden kept track of the days even before we reached land (surprise, surprise).
We're all getting a little tired of just eating fish and fruit all the time...
