Before you read, I just want to ask you to read the entire thing, yes it goes on but it has a purpose. So please, read.
You know that book the giving tree by Shel Silverstein? Yes, the little kids book. As most childrens books do, this book has a purpose, some books teach kids to be nice, some teach manners, others teach you how to wash your hands. This book teaches you so much more, it covers so much of a lifetime and helps you learn the way a person should be, kind caring, giving. Now of course nobody's perfect, and one can't behave as such every moment of their lives. But people do have their moments.
Odd enough, we can learn a life lesson from a little tree who wants to give her heart and soul to the little boy who hung from her branches, a boy who found peace only at the tree. This story shows that when you give to someone, they can grow and become a great person. They can live.
Now, this thread has other meaning rather than me going on and on about a childrens book, this thread is to help people on this site give back to others.
Think about it? Most of you I assume have a great life, you must if you have a computer, because they cost money. But a lot of people wouldn't care for a computer, as long as they could have a bit of food for themselves or their families. or maybe a home. Maybe this thread should be dedicated, not only to finding ways to help other people, but to find ways of helping everything. The planet, animals. Whatever you can think of!
Now how can a website full of people who, for the most part, don't even know eachother? I think by taking one step at a time (even a small one) Can make a big difference. So on this I will post different programs that help someone or something in some way and maybe you could find it in your heart to maybe visit some of their websites and maybe even donate! I understand, not all of you are willing to chuck up your change, or you don't have a credit card and thats the only way to donate. But you can always help by supporting some of these programs in your sigs or avatars, maybe even do something away from this site and help make people more aware of how lucky I assume most of us are.
And remember, tonight when you are eating dinner, think of all the kids out there who can't even afford have a meal that day, or the lost dog out on the street. We can make a difference, a bunch of little things can add up to one big thing.
Now, If you have an orginization or cause that you think requires help post it on this thread and we can all find a way to help it! And don't forget to post what you've done to help here!!
Here is a free sig that anybody who visits this threat can use! I will probably post more later :)

When you post on this thread saying that you have helped out in some way, you will recieve a "Branch" And your name will be put on the tree below.
Once you have earned a branch you may use this sig add-on: To show this entire site that you care for others. so keep earning those branches, and you can earn more than one, under your username the list of things you have done for others will grow and grow. And you will find that you have your own giving tree.

I might be able to post up something here...I will check...It's a foundation called We Can. It gives assistance and support to families whose children have brain cancer. It's not a medical assistance group, they aren't doctors, they can't diagnose or treat the cancer. They merely give support and friendship to the families, and it's absolutely amazing how much that helps.
I do community service for them, since the founder and director is a family friend. I do the service to get hours to turn in to school to make my grade, but I will surely do extra help for them even after I don't need any more service hours.
I love their purpose, and I always extend my heart to this group and help them out.
I hope you will too, ....once I am able to post the details on this organization!!!! Haha..
Tella: That sounds like a wonderful organization! Great job helping others! Hawkshadow: Aw poor puppy :( look at his sad little face! :( Thanks for helping out!
Great! I will check it out when I get home! Also I'm working on a sig for this thread but I'm coming online by using my moms internet enabled phone so I can't make it here :) post it as soon as its done, also I will be posting a tshirt design that u can print on iron on paper and iron it on a blank shirt :) I don't know if anyone will use it but I will post it anyway :)
This thread is so right and so truthfully depressing. I don't know of any organizations BUT i am going to help my dad at homeless shelters starting this year. and NOT because i need community service hours. i've worked at one before on a church mission trip and it was amazing and so much fun. so i'm looking forward to doing it again! i wanted to work at an animal shelter, but it just didn't work out. so when i'm older i definitely do that, though, since i want to so much. get involved at an event near you to help those less fortunate :]
