Pain stabbed Timbersong's heart. "I'm sorry!" she whispered. "ThunderClan.." Flashbacks went through her head, and the cat was unable to stop them. Pictures of when she was a kit, becoming an apprentice, training to become a warrior, catching her first prey, Duskstar naming her 'Timbersong..' "I can't." she whispered. "I can't decide..." She had tears well up in her eyes. "Duskstar, you're not the same person. You... I'm not saying I like the killing." Her voice cracked. "I'm saying I don't want the clans to join together. We can fight with each other, sure, but not form a new clan. Not make completely new clans. I want the 4 original clans to stay."
"You think I've changed?" Duskstar asked calmly. "You should listen to what you're saying. 'We can fight with each other, sure'? What has happened to you, Timbersong? Why do you think that those four clans should stay? What is your amazingly wonderful reason which shall make me stop this and return back to ThunderClan with my tail between my legs? Oh, you don't have one? I didn't think so." Her voice had turned cold, as if a sudden snowstorm was blowing by.

"If that was meant to be comforting, it was not."
"Everyone dies eventually. Once you are born, you begin to die."
"That was not comforting either!"
"It is the way of the Creed. Usually our deaths are violent but quick."
Timbersong glared at Duskstar. "Why are you answering your own question?" she asked through gritted teeth. "I think the clans should stay together... Why else would StarClan choose 4 clans? Why else would they have leaders in each clan and etc? Because they believe it's right! And now, you're ruining their desicion because you want to join the clans together to stop cats from dying?"
"Do you know," Duskstar was almost growling, just barely suppressing it, "that there were once five living clans? But then the other four drove the fifth, SkyClan, away when their home was destroyed by Twolegs, leaving them to wander and die. StarClan covered up this nasty wound by saying there were only ever four clans, but that's not true. Now you're telling me that I should let four clans stay four clans and watch innocents be slaughtered? Do not believe all you hear, Timbersong. SkyClan was thrown out, their existence forgotten."

Timbersong grimaced. Duskstar was changing, big time. "Duskstar, do you know that Tigerstar wanted to take over the clans? Do you know that Tigerstar wanted to be leader of the clans? Of all four clans? And he started his speach at a gathering?" Her voice cracked. She couldn't believe she was compairing her former leader to Tigerstar. "And do you know what happened? THe clans rejected his option except for RiverClan, and TIgerstar was slaughtered." She choked back tears. "I don't want you murdered."
"Do you think I will be murdered? Did I openly declare war? Did I say I would be the sole leader? Did I say I would kill all who stood in my path?" She snorted. "Honestly, it seems that every single person who comes along with a different idea is immediately labeled as another Tigerstar. What has happened to the integrity of the clans? Why is everyone so ready to attack, shed blood, murder?"

Lilyspirit sat to the side, havign followed her friend over. She didn't like the way Duskstar spoke. It was hurting Timbersong. Other than that, the way she prased things, she truely thought of herself as the 'good guy'. Was there any good side in this? Was this even a war? Duskstar said she didn't want any lives lost, but she caled it a war, none the less. "You're not a traitor, Duskstar." The she-cat said at last, pausing and bringing her eyes to meet the leader's. She could almost see a forboding aura around her. "No, you're not a traitor. you have ideas. I understand that you want the clans to change for the better, so that our lives may be longer, and our prey may be more plentiful. But people stick to old traditions. They use StarClan forever as a reference, forever as their only hope. But some things StarClan can't descide. Some things we must do on our own. But think of our perspective. If you take our land and tell us we can join you or live on what little land we have left, how are we to survive? How can we go on when we can't feed our clans!? You're not bringing peace to the clans, you're giving them no other choices but to join you, or die. It doesn't matter how you see it, that's how it is. You are their leader. You have given us no other choice. I will stay loyal to my clan... Even if my leader chooses not to." She said the last part quietly, and dropped her eyes to her leader's paws, laying herself before them for criticism. She had spoken her case, and it would not change. It was for the good of herself, her clan, and the future of all clans.

Timbersong felt glad for Lilyspirt's help. She was quite stuck. She felt terrible for saying bad things to Duskstar. She felt bad for leaving ThunderClan and joining ShadowClan. She felt terrible for every little mistake that she made, but Timbersong knew she couldn't take them back, nor could Duskstar. She sighed. "Duskstar, think about what Lilyspirt said," she muttered.
Dragonstar listened to the other cats conversation. If Duskstar was murdered, then he might as well pick up from where she left off. Duskstar wasn't the one who declared war, it was the other clans. Why did they think that fighting would stop this, it could make it worse. Already one clan had been split apart.
"Liliyspirit, do me a favor and tell every Shadowclan cat that they are not to participate in this war. I don't care if they are new to this clan are not. If they want to fight, then tell them to go join another clan. I will be going to speak to the other leaders, starting with Windclan." Before anyone could respond, Dragonstar had turned and left the camp.
Timbersong looked at Dragonstar. "Not fight in the war?" she muttered. "Dragonstar, what if we're forced into war? What would we do then? Run?" She sighed. Life became difficult since Duskstar declared that she wanted the clans to join together. Timbersong looked pitifully at Duskstar. She didn't want to say anything anymore. Duskstar would just... Timbersong felt her heart shatter. Duskstar was different. Changed.
