ic: Ashton opened one eye and peaked outside. The sun was bright. The birds were chirping and the trees swaying in the breeze. He groaned and stretched his old legs. The city was busy. Cars zoomed with such force that the air around him made his fur ruffle. But it all felt good and normal. He was born a city dog. Of course. He walked over and sat down in the center. He yawned and scratched his long, thick fur. "Wake up buds," he growled in his usual low voice. "The city is already awake, time for you to be."
Cliff opened his eyes and blinked taking in the light outside. With a grunt he stood up and shook himself making dust fly off in different directions. Stretching he looked around and saw some dogs were still asleep. Knowing Ashton was right Cliff walked toward the big dog and sat down watching the others begin to stir.
They're probably waking up now... Thought Karmabell, for she was out and about getting food, the first lesson her mom taught her: the early bird gets the meat. Ever since she had woken up early perfecting her hunting techniques so she could catch enormous quantities of meat without stealing or violence. The cool breeze ruffled her fur the wrong way as she stalked her last peice of prey for the day, very small, but it sufficed, she needed a less demanding prey to catch now, after all she was so tired! when it was caught and killed she began to drag the around 10 pounds of meat that was to be their meal for the day. And used another secret of hers to get back, so other dogs wouldn't catch the scent of her prey. When she returned, she began with "Morning all! Nice to see you are up! " she giggled and flug the meat at the entrace.
Cliff turned and licked his lips seeing the meat Karmabell had brung. Looking back at the other dogs he shrugged. "You snooze you lose." Walking toward the meat Cliff looked outside and took a deep breath. It was the middle of fall and the leaves on the trees were changing colors. With the windows of the building always sending in cold air the group would have o fix the place up beore winter hit. Taking a small piece of meat, because he wasnt that hungry Cliff jumped on his favorite spot of the house. It was a small chair, alittle torn up from his claws but it was comfortable. Looking at Karmabell before he ate he nodded. "You can stay in today and get some rest if you want." The husky always woke up before the group and worked extra hard.
"Thanks boss!" This made Karmabell joyful that she had succeded in getting the chance to relax, but then she remembered, she didn't want to be lazy! "But... if It's all right with you I would like to help our some more! Is there anything I can do?" Turning her head a little to the side she sat awaiting a reply.
Cliff began eating then stopped and looked up. Turning to Karmabell again he thought for a moment. "Well how about eating first." He laughed and looked at the meat the husky had brought in. "We can always get some more if theres not enough." Taking a last bite of his food Cliff jumped off the seat and looked toward the group, who were STILL sleeping! "After that, since NONE of our guard dogs are awake, you can go patrol the boundaries with me, and another dog,if you want to and if there awake by then!" Rolling his eyes he lay down and put his head on his paws and waited.

Jumping at the news that she would maybe have the chance to patrol the boundaries, she quickly ate a small bit of food as Cliff had instructed, then so they could get a move on, she yelled "THERE IS MEAT HERE!" followed by a giggle, because for a moment her voice had sounded a tad commanding, which was funny. She hoped this would wake them, but you never know. She had heard last night was tough, the reasons why she didn't know. But she knew they needed to get off their lazy butts so she could help patrol!!
Cliff laughed and turned to the group. Getting sick of waiting too he arched his back and howled. "GET UP OR YOU WONT GET ANYTHING!" He howled again as loudly as he could then sat down and waited. "If that dont wake them up nothing will!" he stood up impatiently and walked back and forth.
Karmabell decided to take advantage of the empty time, she was going to finish her project, which was a gift for everyone in the family. Because, her mother had told her that she, Karmabell, had been born on 'Christmas' a human celebration where everyone gave eachother gifts! And since her birthday was comming up, so was Christmas! So she disappeared behind a bush very quickly and finished Cliffs present, since it was almost done, and began on another. All the while she awaited to be called out to go on, PATROL!! :)

Ashton sighed. Cliff, no doubt, was a great leader, but sometimes he saw stuff in the other boss that he knew was not as great for a boss. But he didn't mind. Cliff was fun and loving, exactly like his father. Before he moved.
||"Daddy!" Ashton called. His father, the great dane, turned around and licked his son's head. "Hey buddy," he called back, his voice choked and tears glistening in his eyes. "How's my favorite son?" Ashton giggled. His father would always ask 'How's my favorite son', when he was his only son. "I'm good, daddy. How about you?" His father smiled a sad smile. "I'm good," he said.
"You should tell Ashton!" He heard his mother say at nighttime. "He's your son! He has the right to know that you are leaving!" Ashton gasped. His father was leaving?? He peaked from his hiding spot. "Dad, you're leaving?" ||
Ashton got up and sniffed the air. Karambell was in her usual place, behind the bushes. He smiled and walked over to her. "Going on a patrol?" he asked. "Don't waste time, the food is precious. Let's go hunting."
