Amelia smiled thankfully at Blaike, her eyes filled with tears. "I swear i wont do anything to hurt you." She then turned to Saturn who had blurted out her idea, "Even if you fake a heart attack dont you think they will notice. They have moniter hooked up to your heart that show how fast your heart beats. When it beats so fast that it overwhelms it will shut down. That is called cardiac arrest or more commonly known as heart attack. They can tell when your heart rate is increased. Even if you did manage to pull it off they would just use the crash cart to bring you back through shock paddles. I dont think you really want to do that. You will actually have to be dead before they remove you from this room." Amelia shook her head, "It was sort of a good plan but then again a dumb one considering where you are. These scientists built you, they know everything about you, dont you think they can tell if you were having a fake heart attack." Amelia dismissed the idea and turned back to Blaike, "So which plan would you like, unlock you here and now or would you like me to try and melt down one of our reactors?"
Blaike looked up and at her. Melt one of the reactors. We put Max and her group in here, we have to get them out. Amelia nodded. Blaike still couldn't grasp all of this. Lying in the school. Again. She prayed and hoped that they would be able to get out. What must Max be thinking of them? For sure they were blaming them. And Blaike had a horrible feeling that the next time the two groups talked, it wouldn't be kind, caring, and loving words they shared. More like arguing and words of hatred that they all had been placed in there. It wasn't their fault! How were they to know that what was causing their headaches some sort of tracking device? She looked over at Kit. She hated seeing him so incredibly helpless. She knew though, he would stop at nothing to protect her. And she for him. Their eyes locked and she couldn't help the rush of excitement she felt when he looked at her. Which quite honestly terrified her. She looked back up to Amelia.
Amelia nodded, "Alright, ive got an idea to get everyone in the same room. Just hold tight while i set the plan in to motion." Amelia turned to leave but stopped she glanced back at Blaike with motherly eyes, "Thank you." With that she left the room.
Kit watched to dark haired woman leave. He wanted to go with her, he always felt a gapping hole in his chest whenever she left them. Kit sighed softly and turned back to Blaike, "I guess we wait now." He looked foward at the cieling for what must have been hours. It was horrible. He wanted to beat his brains out with a stick if only to cure this boredom. No othe scientists came to visit them. They were probably preoccupied with Max and her gang. Kit was about to let out another sigh when alarms in the room went off. Kit's jaw dropped. What the heck was that? The alarms continued to blare until a group of men in hazmat suites burst in to the room. Each grabbed a table that a bird kid was on. The pressed a few buttons and wheels appeared from the bottom of the table. The scientists wheeled every bird kid out in a hurry. Down the hall Kit could see Max and her gang being wheeled away. What was happening?! Each kid was taken to large grayish room. The Hazmat men left in a hurry, purpose in their step. The shut the door behind them, locking it to be sure. The cuffs on everyone's arms gave a hiss and released their wrists. Kit sat up with a dumbfounded expression on his face. "What on Earth..." he whispered. He didnt have time for much else when the front of his shirt was grasped and pulled him off the table. His startled eyes looked up in to the dark ones of Fang. The accused him as he readied for a punch. Kit knocked out his knee and fang fell to the floor. Kit jumped away and held up his arms, "Would you knock it off! We've got a plan to get us out of here. Just hold on." Fang didnt look to convinced as he swung again at Kit. However the taller boy dodged easily, remembering his training from the school. fang swung at his face but Kit easily grabbed the other boy's fist in the palm of his hand. Power flooded in to Kit's body and he saw Fang falter. Kit kicked the boy away and released the power. It was full of malice and hateful feelings. He didnt want that again. "Would you wait for just a litle while?! For heaven's sake!" it growled. Max and her gang huddled together, away from Kit and his Flock. Things seemed to be settling down when a large explosion erupted, causing the floor to quake. Kit fought hard to keep his balance. The floor cracked and bent in place, casing teh door to jar open. Kit's eyes widend. An automated voice called over the speak, "Malfunction, Malfunction. Main ractor in D sector has shut down to safety protical failsafe systems. Ractor is working at eleven percent. Switching to back up generator." The system's alarms blared as red lights flooded the room. The main lights flickered off causing everything to be washed in crimson. "Error, error," the voice called out, "back up generator is off line due to matinence repairs. Emergency lights activated. Protical sixty seven instated. Terminate all unnessacary experiments and expendable personel. Expendable personel include janitors, crew men, and scientists from the following sectors. Sectors B, I, P, R-X, and Y. All other personel, please evacuate. Main Reactor failsafe is unresponsive. Building is indanger of self destructing." The alarms continued and Kit's heart beat rapidly. He remembered for a moment that Amelia was apart of the S sector... She was one of the expendable scientists! Did she know this? Was she really willing to give up everything. He turned to everyone, "Move out!" With that everyone, including Max and her gang, burst through the doors and down the red lit hall ways. Men and woman scrambled through the halls with fear on their faces. The turrets at the end of the hall were offline, Kit could tell by the way they sat that they werent looking for targets. "Lets move!!" Kit shouted again, knocking a few people down if he had to. But what about Amelia? Could they really leave her behind? "Estimated time of destruction, nine minutes and twenty three seconds. Please evacuate." The voice on the voice on the speaker called out.
Blaike's heart thumped with excitement. All of the bird kids began running out. "We have to get out now!" She heard the speaker counting down to destruction. "Move, move, move!" Blaike felt her voice say in sync with another. She turned and Max was staring at her through narrowed eyes. Blaike ignored it and snapped back to look at Kit. His eyes were on Amelia. And Blaike felt his worry. How would they be able to get her out? She sent him a look that said she'd be fine. I mean, wouldn't she? She would be able to cover her tracks, she wouldn't leave anything behind to lead back to her, she was smarter than that. Still, her own fear rose for the young woman. After all, she was the closest thing to a mother she'd ever known.
Kit and the rest raced through the halls, following the signs that glowed with the word, Exit. Kit's fear continued to rise with each pounding step. Yet he had to get out of here with the gang. Amelia had done this for them. Given everything for them. SHe would meet up with them again when they were out. He knew it. She had to. The group kept moving as the voice called out, "Two mintues until self destruct." They zoomed by countless rooms until they finally found a door leading outside. This particular door led to a crumbling rooftop and it was only then that Kit knew they were on the top leve of the building. The boy stopped by the door and motioned for the slower kids to put the pedal to the metal. The rest pushed past him easily but something caught Kit's eyes at the far end of the hall. His raptor vision allowed him to easily see through a window in to a large room with many buttons and panels. The dark flowing hair of Amelia was facing toward him as her fingers flew and she pushed buttons. Kit's heart was filled with joy as he saw her he went to call out to her but something caught her attention. She looked up to her right and defiance and fear filled her face. She backed away to the left, near the edge of the window. A dark looking man appeared on the right side of the window, holding a handgun. He yelled at her and she growled back. Her hands waved with passion, as if trying to persuade him. THe man looked fed up and lifted the gun. Kit's world slowled down. Amelia lifted her hands to her face and the man's hand pulled the trigger. Kit could see the bullet fly the short distance in to Amelia's chest, right where the heart was. Horror and pain filled the boy as he screamed out for her. He turned to run toward her but he felt a heavy tug on his shoulder. Blaike had his sleeve, her eyes filled with tears. She had seen it too but she was wise enough to know there was nothing they could do. Kit's eyes streamed tears and he pushed her away, out toward the door and followed after her. He turned his eyes over his shoulder to see the grim man with dark hazel eyes glaring at him. His hair was stained crimson but Kit could see that normally it was silver. He would get that man, he would strangle him and show him just how worthless his life was compared to Amelia.
Blaike ran as fast as she could with the others. Her heart engulfed with pain, and tears begging to fall. Once all of them were out safely, her and Max jumped into the air at the same time releasing their own wings. At least she was flying. At least she could feel some sort of peace at the moment. Amelia risked her own life to save them. By saving them it cost her her life. Why? Not that Blaike wasn't grateful, but why Amelia? Why did she have to be the one to die? Why? She was the most compassionate person she had ever met. Given the only people she knew were scientists. She felt her heart ripping at the seems. Her eyes were burning. But she forced her own tears to stay in her eyes, and not fall.
Kit's powerful wings spread as he jumped from the crumbling roof. An explostion sounded from with the compound and chunks of the building went flying. Kit moved quicker to escape the blasts. Each of the bird kids rose high in to the sky, getting away just in time before the final explosion. The building blew apart and crumbled. Kit shook and shivered in the air as he remembered what happened. He flew toward the back of the group. The only ones that seemed to be affected were Blaike and Kit. The others may have seen Amelia's death but but even if they cared at all the didnt show it. Kit clenched his fists in anger. He felt useless. He could have dont something. He could have raced back down the hall and saved her. He could have done something. Somewhere in Kit's gut told him the man with hazel eyes and silver was still alive. He must have escaped. He would pay, everyone from the school would, if they hadnt already. Many bodies would lay under the crumbled building. Their payment had come in full. The gingerish haired boy shook his head. They had to use this second chance well. Amelia wouldnt have sacrificed herself for nothing. These bird kids were her life and they wouldnt let her die in vain, Kit wouldnt let that happen.
Saturn stared back at the school as she flew, the others far ahead of her. Amalia had died, and her heart was aching. The last thing she had said had been,'How dare you pose as our friend!' before Amalia died. She shuddered, falling further behind the other as she flapped after them. She was tired from fighting to get out and from rushing past so many people, and she had no energy. Her eyes were begining to close with exhoustion as she had began to decend lower and lower into the sky. The others were almost out of reach as she began to plummit down, filled was sorrow and exhoustion. She could only see black as she became unconciouse.
OOC; Okay, Scorchie, as much fun as it is for us to constantly have to catch while you are falling out of the air, could you please stop that. Our characters have had to recue you a lot. We will not continue to do so if that keeps up.
Scott sighed and tossed a look at Kit. He looked heart-broken. Sure, Scott had seen what happened to Amelia, but to him, she was just another stupid scientist that deserved it. He blew a piece of hair from his eyes and slowed to fly next to Kit. "That was interesting," he stated, swerving to look back. If the world had to choose one place to blow up, they had chosen the right one. While they had been in the room, strapped to tables, he had brewed an idea of something he could do for the flock, but Blaike would never approve. He scraped dust from his shirt and flew on.
