Simon looked at it. It looked pleased and wanted more jerky. He stepped away, and was next to Rooke."Ya' think we should keep feeding it?"he asked. The deer looked happy at the prospect of more meat. Simon decided to follow suit, and threw out a large paice of balony that had been in his pack. The deer went running after it like before and came trotting back again, looking at both him and Rooke now. It was very hungry.
Rooke took his eyes off the deer to see what had run into him. What the.... He suddenly felt something on his hand. Something like coarse grass. No! The deer was rubbing it's head against his hand! He froze, and saw that she liked him. He almost smiled. The fur was rough and dirty, but she seemed friendly and grateful. He noticed that the lion had not been much for all of them. Were they running out of food? Was that why she was so happy just for the small piece of jerky?

Star shivered. She could hear voices and footsteps. "Go away!" She cried in a whisper. "Leave me alone! Don't hurt me!" She glanced at her hand. It was still bleeding. "Go away!" She said once more. "Dont hurt me!" She rolled over onto her other side. She didn't open her eyes. she was to afraid to see the fait that lied ahead of her.
Simon saw that the deer didn't seem to mind them. He pulled out some more meat from his pack and handed it to Rooke."She likes you. Why don't you try feeding her some more? I have plenty of meat."he to Rooke. The deer looked even happyer. The angry red glow in its eyes had become a loving pink shade.
Keeping a hand on the mutant animal, Rooke looked back and saw that the group was long gone. Uh-oh. He looked below him and saw a girl, pleading for them to leave her alone. He raised an eyebrow. "Who are you? Are you okay? I won't hurt you," he assured, and scratched the mutant's muzzle while he slipped off Storm Stallion. He kneeled next to the girl. The deer lowered her head so it was level with his.

Star opened her eyes. A deer liked someone? "Who are you?" She asked in a whisper, not looking up. "Can you take me to the waterfall?" She sat there looking at the soil she was lying on. She sighed. She closed her eyes once more. "Who are you?"
Rooke smiled. "I am Rooke Taiman, and well, what waterfall? There are none around here," he said. He stroked the animal and looked into the girl's eyes. "Now who are you?" he asked. "I swear, nobody will hurt you," he promised.

Simon looked at them both and then the deer. Stark had stopped sweating, and was looking at her with curiosity. Her gently nuzzled the strange girl. Simon stared at the deer. They both felt awkward. Simon got off of his steed and Kneeled down next to Rooke. "Listen, its okay, you're fine."he told the frightened girl.
"I'm looking for the waterfall of the sky." She sat up. "And my name is Star." she said calmly. "I never had parents, so I named myself after the stars. They've helped me through everything. She rubbed her eyes. "Why do you have your hand on that deer?" She asked. "They're dangerous!"
Rooke nodded at the girl. "I know, but not her," he said, looking back at the deer. "Now, what's the waterfall of the sky?" he asked again. He set a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay, now just talk to me, please?" he said, stroking her hair. He grabbed a piece of meat that Simon had given him and fed it to the deer. He looked back at the girl and pushed the rest of the pile toward the mutant, and she practically inhaled it.
