Alanna's eyes flickered open, and she sat up in her makeshift bed on the floor of the living room. There were six of them all together, which was a stretch in such a small space, but they made the best of what they had. There was only one bedroom, which had no door, there were only walls separating the bathroom from the other rooms of the house. They'd all been living here for about a year now, after escaping the institute. They all basically relied on each other no matter what. Even though at times, it was difficult. She looked at the sleeping forms in the room and smiled to herself. Their life wasn't bad, not at all. Besides, it's not about where you are but who you're with right? She knew today would be another hard day, they always were. I mean come on, if you had people chasing you everyday wanting you either dead or alive, you'd be a little on edge too.
Alanna was always one of the firsts up because she was a morning person so to speak. She walked over to the makeshift kitchen that had a fridge that didn't keep things cold, and a stove that they had to heat themselves. But hey, as long as they had food, they were good. She took out some eggs and began cooking them the way they all liked it. She was sort of the mother hen I guess you could call it, making sure everyone was okay and happy, despite the crappy circumstances.

Kirene woke up, having sleapt on the arm chair facing the kitchen. She sat up straight as usual, her purple eyes darkening. She only felt at peace when she dreampt of things like new characters to the stories she thought up in her head. When she was awake, she usualy felt energetic and would try to find some way to rid herself of the energy rather unsuccessfully. Today she felt like all of her energy had been drained already.

As she looked around their apartment, she heard a small thud of footsteps as someone entered. 'That must be Brodie.'she thought awakewordly. She didn't like the fact thaat he didn't get a lot of money for his hard work. Then he'd be able to get himself and the others a better place to live in instead of this apartment. He'd also be able to at least get a better job that paid him better, but what was there now was what they had.

She remembered that Alanna had decided to wait for Brodie in the living room, or whatever room it was called that was close to the front door of the apartment. "Guess that she didn't get much, or any sleep...." she whispered to herself. Alanna was probably exhousted from waiting so long.

Kirene heard something like cooking and looked in the kitchen to find Alanna cooking eggs. "Hi Alanna. You okay?" Kirene asked. She may have been 17 years old, but that didn't mean she wasn't a bit creative. She had even figured out how to make gourmete meals with the microwave, or something like that. The one recipe she knew very well was BBQed pork and veggies, wich she liked to make. She decided to go over the ingredients as she usualy did:

1. hotdogs (x7)
2. BBQ suace (x2)
3. cup o water (x5)
4. celery (x6 sticks)
5. Carrots (x6 sticks)

She knew they had some. But if Alanna was cooking, then what she cooked was what they ate. She saw Brodie, and found that she had been right in saying he had come home. "Hello Brodie. How was work?" she asked him, her voice holding a bit of a light tone. She enjoyed asking people how their day went, because then she could find a way to better prepare them if it had gone bad.

Tanner awoke quickly frm the disturbing dream, and saw that Allana, Kirene, and Brodie were in the "kitchen". He stood and went to join them. "Hey guys," he said, stretching his arms above his head. The overwhelming smell of eggs was amazing, and made him stand still for a moment. Then he shook himself awake. His warming, happy voie poured into the room. "I wonder what today's 'adventures' are going to be," he joked.

The sound of the door clicking open had Julius turning over with a moan to see what all the commotion was about. "Whas' goin' on?" he mumbled sleepily, squinting at the people talking. After his mind woke up some more, he realized Brodie had come back and was now talking about something with some other early risers. Always uncomfortable with sleeping while others were awake, Julius rolled out of bed even though he was clearly not a hundred percent awake.

"G'morning," he said absently, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "Whas for breakfast? 'N welcome back, Brodie." His words were still sleep-slurred, and he ambled off to their bathroom to properly finish waking up.

Julius wasn't his usual firecracker-self until he had woken up, and although it didn't look like anything had changed as the boy walked back out, finger-combing his hair, the damp on his shirt and hair was enough to warn anyone that the small window for teasing had passed. More alert now, he went to stand next to Alanna, watching on as she prepared breakfast. "Do you need any help?" Although it seemed as if he were talking to the elder girl, the offer was directed to everyone; Julius was too young to properly get a job and therefore help support them, and he felt bad about that, so he almost always volunteered for the more menial tasks around their home.
