"Yeah, I guess your right. But can you keep a secret?" Konoka asked her with the shadow of a grin. "Lat;ey, I've been getting migrains and one night I saw something, like another dragon flying by. He was a wierd one, with oversized wings. That's all I remember."she told Mist. "Let's just hope we don't run into any problem dragons on the way."

Darton laughed softly at Mist's joke. "Yup. You can't go wrong when you're with Mist." He frowned slightly. He had been positive for his whole life, but that was rarely how he felt. He had to make them feel protected. He couldn't go off and live in his world, where everything was gone. He looked out over the wasteland and saw the thick jungle that used to be there when he was young. Tears came to his eyes when he saw what he losing. More than everyone else. A grin tugged across his face when he remembered his childhood.

Konoka looked to Darton. "Well, when do we leave? Now? Or are there other things we need to check?"she asked the others, her red eyes lighting up. "I just feel a little too much energy and need to waste it somehow."she told them. Then she leapt into the air and flew circles around them, her black wings shining in the morning sun.

Darton looked up at Konoka, and flew up after her. "We leave tomorrow," he stated, and flew down. He swooped into his cave, and checked every tunnel. There was nothing left. He lay in a pile of loose sand, that was always his bed, and had served as a nursery whenever there was a birth in his family. Since his father died, he had taken care of the family. It had been like his own family clan.

Konoka nodded and wne t to her den for a quick rest. Then she would see if she could find any food for them. She went into a secret chamber in her den and fished out the stone, holding it close. But it felt warm, not as cold and solid as it used to be. There was almost something like a small pulse of a heart beat that she could feel. She had gotten that from her mother, but hadn't expected this. SHe immediatly went to Darton's den and brought the now warm and glowing red stone. "Darton, something strange is happewning to my gem." she told him.

Darton looked up, and it wasn't until then when he noticed he had tears in his eyes. He cleared his throat and stood. "Okay, tell me about it," he said, and rested his tail on Konoka's shoulder.

ic: "It feels warm, and it feels like a heart is beating inside."she told him. The stone was glowing brighter with each word she spoke, and it was getting warmer. Now it was too hot too touch. Konoka carefully placed it on the ground, not wanting to get burned.

Darton stared at it, and wiped tears away from his face. Sure enough, he saw the beating pulse, and felt the heat wafting from it. "Wow." He looked up at Konoka. "I've seen this before," he whispered to her. "This is how heroes are made." He looked back at the stone, now bright red. "Heroes are born to a mother and father, but they are not born from them, but as diamond-like rocks, and they hatch when they are with their true mother and father at the same time." He suddenly looked up at Konoka, and took s step back, horror filling his eyes. "No. It's not me. I swear, I don't 'love' love you," he said.

She looked at him with shock."What?! I can't....but...what do you mean?!" she said.She wasn't inlove with Darto, and that was certain. She had had that stone for a while, and she didn't expect it to hatch into something! The small stone suddenly cracked. She backed away from it, and the crack was getting wider, light spilling into the den. "This is impossible!" she cried, her red eyes now glowing as the egg was.
