Alexia heard the dog gasp in pain, and got up, shaking with fear."What was that? Who hit him?" she asked. She heard Hayley and Flick in the room."Hayley, FLick? Is that you?" she asked. She heard him panting and getting up. She held his collar as he tried to restrain himself from her and Hayley, but he seemed agitated. The dog turned to Flicks breathing.why was it after him? she thought. She heard another voice as a person got up. It sounded like an elderly woman. She backed away from the dog.
Hayley pointed to the dog Alexia was sheltering. "That dog tried to kill us." She stared at the girl and held the crow bar tight. She had been gone for quite awhile, what if she was infected to? Looking at Flick then back at Alexia she made sure to keep an eye on both dog and girl. "The dog's infected, and for all we know...you could be too." She spoke acusingly and wondered where Easton was.
ALexia understood."I'm not infected, and I understand why you would suspect. Easton had to get his medication. We had to spend the night at his apartment because a bunch of these ind=fected people destroyed and attacked my apartment. I heard moaning in the attic and came as fast as I could" she explained. SHe looked to where the dog was growling. "He's infected? He must have been in there when they attacked..." she muttered away from earshot. Whee was Easton? Her hands trembled away as she heard Hayley's breathing again, and the breathing of the infected woman who was coming closer. She drew a deep breath and stood away, backing up a bit with no sense of direction. "And if I'm infected, how can I have the capability to speak or undertand?" she told them.
Hayley watched the dlerly woman stumble to the ground, her eyesight was bad. Looking back at Alexia she tried to believe her but right now she thought anything was possible. "Just these two days I found out a disease can make humans turn into things like zombies, a dog has the strength of a man and about a hundred other things i use to think were fake when i was a kid could be real too. There's no way I can know if your one of them until it's to late and right now.....I can't trust you or Easton..." She frowned and couldn't believe she was turning down the red-head. The reason she had gone into being a fire-fighter was to help those in need whther human or animal, but things had changed. "If you can prove to me your not infected..or Easton Ill believe you, but for right now your on your own..."
Alexia decided. If Hayley couldn't trust her to help them, then that was just it. "Fine." she said. "I don't know if I can prove it to you. SO I don't know if I will." she said. She turned to the dog. he sounded distracted and torn. Easton would feel betrayed if he knew that they were on their own, that the others didn't trust him. ANd who said he wouldn't do the same thing? SHe couldn't walk out of the room, for one because she was blind. And besides, if she was on her own, she couldn't help them? No. She gripped the cane that now lay on the floor. She listened quietley for the woman and dog. As soon as they came forewards, to the sound of their shuffling, she smacked them to the ground. She pulled out an anastetic and injected it into them. The woman and dog now lay limp. She ran out of the room, feeling her feet slide on the floor and hearing Hayl;ey and FLick's deep breathing. She turned and skirted down the hall, leaving the cane with them. She turned and came to a stop , feeling the wall. She found the manager's door and went inside the dark room, crouching. SHe closed the door quietley so Easton wouldn't know she was there. If he came, and if she told him, how would he feel? SHe breathed as calmly as she could, her breathing growing silent with each minute.
Flick breathed heavily and turned to Hayley. "I'm so sorry. This is all my fault," he whispered. He forced himself to his feet and walked over to her. "If I hadn't been so stupid, this wouldn't have happened! None of these people would have died! We would all be safe with our regular lives, and now everything's going..." He didn't finish before falling to his knees. "I'm so sorry."

Hayley wached Alexia leave and felt aweful. Looking over at Flick she stared his eyes for a moment trying to talk calmly. "What should we do?" She shivered alittle and felt defeated again. No matter what she did someone always got hurt in the process of her helping someone else. Walking to the staircase she waited until Flick and everyone else was inside before walking to one of the highest flights of stair. Sitting down she placed her head on her head and listened to the last of the residents talking.
Flick lay down on a couch and sighed deeply. What could he do for these people? If he had access to his lab he'd be working on the cure until he was dead, but he didn't have a way out of there. He sat up, thinking hard. Maybe if he could get back to his apartment, maybe he had something there that might help. He had no idea if he could get there but he didn't want to take the chance of being turned into a zombie by something he created, because now, he was the only one that could make the cure. They needed him alive.
