Dallas stopped running and turned to a familiar voice. "Yes please!" he tried to smile and walked to the passenger side of the car. Getting in he strapped on the seat belt and leaned his back. "You saved my butt." he laughed alittle but his face wasnt as happy as it use to be. "How you doing?" Dallas looked at Scotie then toward the door window.
"Pretty spiffy."she said her fake smile in place as she handed him a coffee. When Scottie felt out of control she would smile. For example when the head cheerleader poured her trey all over Scottie and laughed about it she just smiled and said "Awh shucks this was my favorite shirt but hey, accidents happen right?" Starbright by Quietdrive came on and she tensed for a momen but then relaxed and refused to change the song. "How are you today?"she asked him.

Dallas didnt keep his eyes off the window as he replied. "Im good." Trying not to think about Johnny's death he tapped his foot nervously and looked at Scottie. "Hey wanna sit together for lunch?" For some reason although they were like best friends Dallas never sat with Scottie he wold usually sit with his teammates or stay at the gym helping out and skipping lunch.
"Suit yourself."she said putting the coffee back down and taking a big drink of hers. "What about the team? Won't they miss you?"she asked. Her Luke and a few other kids usually sat outside and talked and ate or whatever they felt like doing. She didn't think she could face them today without Luke by her side.

Dallas saw Scottie put the extra coffee down and rubbed his head. "Sorry I wasnt paying attention." Picking up the coffee he took a sip and held for awhile as he talked. "Nah, all they do is goof around and pull pranks all day I can do that some other time." Taking another sip of coffee he stared strait ahead and thought more about what school was going to be like then lunch.
"Alright I guess I could pencil you into my busy planner." she said making an attempt at light laughter but it came out tense and stretched. She was trying to put on a good show for Dallas but it wasn't working very well because he knew her. Anybody else would think she was perfectly fine and not having a mental break down or a battle of emotions. "I don't think i can do this." she finally said as she parked the car. "It's too soon."

Dallas put the coffee down and looked at Scottie for a few minutes. "I know...I dont think Im going to make it through the day. I might sneak out early." Putting his hand on her shoulder to comfort her Dallas sighed and looked at the school. "Your welcome to join me but I dont know if you would." he spoke quitely and knew he was going to leave early for sure now.
"I'm leaving when lunch gets here. We just have to make it through two class periods and then we can cut out early." she told him. She grabbed her hot pink Victoria Secret's jacket and pulled it on. Putting the hood up she popped and an earbud into one ear and put her phone in her pocket along with her Touch. "Meet me at the front door when the bell rings and we can go somewhere."she said getting out and putting her keys in her purse and pulling on her backpack.

Dallas got out of the car and closed the door after grabbing his gray drawstring backpack. Nodding to Scottie he looked at the school and saw only a few people out. "I think were alittle late." He bit the side of his lip lightly like he always did when he was trying to think of something. "Alright...I'll see ya later." He said finally and ran toward the school seeing one of his friends from class. Nodding in greeting Dallas walked by him and noticed his friend didnt say much he just nodded and looked at him with sorry expression. Shrugging it off Dallas walked inside the school and stood for a minute watching everyone get to their classes or hang out in the halls.
Scottie took a deep breath and fingered her ring while she walked slowly towards the school. A tall guy with messy brown hair and skinny jeans came up to her and smiled. "I'm not going to give you that sympathetic stuff because I know it only makes things worse." he told her putting his arm around her. "Thanks Eli." she said softly. Elijah or Eli had moved here around the same time Luke had and they had been pretty close so she knew he was taking it hard but it wasn't like Eli to show his emotions. "Come on Scottie let's get to French."
