As Tigerpaw prowled around the house, he quickly met up with Hawkpaw and Sparrowpaw as they were being led with another human. "Hi guys," he said quickly. "Where are you guys going?" He could smell the scent of food now, although it smelled completely different than the ones they ate at ThunderClan. It smelled funny, but good in its own way. And just smelling the scent made his stomach growl. "Ugh. I'm starving! When will Luke finish catching the prey?" He muttered.
Robert stopped as Tigerpaw approached. Seeing the young man talking with his current charges he said, "Dinner is ready and Mr. Knightly is expecting you all. I am to take you there so you dont get lost. If you dont mind my asking, what are your names? I should like to know whom it is i am taking care of." Hawkpaw grinned at Tigerpaw and pipped up, "Name's Hawkpaw, apprentice of Thunderclan. Once agian Robert's face was in utter confusion. He was looking as if he wished he hadnt asked.
Tigerpaw laughed. "Yeah. And mine is Tigerpaw. Of ThunderClan. An apprentice. Like Hawkpaw." And you are...? "Robert," the man answered, confusion on his face. His name was different, compared to the apprentices. Tigerpaw turned to Hawkpaw. "Why is his name so short for StarClan's sake?"
"Some kind of bird?" Sparrowpaw offered, shrugging. She turned to the nice, muscular man, and added her own, "I'm Sparrowpaw, of ThunderClan!" and tilted her head to the side at how confused he seemed. "He's probably a loner or something. Maybe they have shorter names because there's so many of them that it would get confusing any other way. Anyway, I'm hungry, let's go! Even though I have no idea what a sa-hla-d is..." she murmured, watching as the man before them gave up completely and just shook his head.

"If he dies, then it will be God's will."
"If that was meant to be comforting, it was not."
"Everyone dies eventually. Once you are born, you begin to die."
"That was not comforting either!"
"It is the way of the Creed. Usually our deaths are violent but quick."
Hawkpaw shrugged and agreed with his cousin, "I was assuming it was because he was a loner or a rogue. Remember the barn on Riverclan territory. Jumper and Scotch live there and they have short names." Hawkpaw just shrugged again and followed after Robert. The group managed to find the rest of the apprentices and went to the large dinning hall. A strange wooden platform stood in the middle of the table with thin, round white objects sitting just infront of what appeared to be seats. Next to the white objects were thin silver items that varied in size and shape. Just in front of those was a strange clear object that looked like it was made to hold something inside. Luke sat at the head of the brown platform as he called out, "Its called a table just in case you were wonder." Hawkpaw frowned at the man and pulled out a seat in the middle of the table. "Thank you Robert, go enjoy dinner yourself," THe man gave a relieved sigh and turned away. "He's a good man. He probably didnt understand you guys though."

"Me neither," Tigerpaw admitted. "Perhaps some kind of animal that wasn't in the forest?" The name sounded funny to him. A sa-hla-d. Wow. Humans were weird. He continued walking and studying Robert carefully. He was big. And tall. A two-leg, or what they called a human. And he ate those weird foods. Tigerpaw shook his head. He didn't understand WHY Robert looked confused when they said their names. After all, didn't most people have those names? Duh! Every clan cat's names were like those!
Tigerpaw took a seat at the table, next to Sparrowpaw and Hawkpaw. THe food's scents were delicious, though air was rising out of them. And nothing seemed right. The smell was off, but he was too starving to care. And as soon as he sat down, his mouth began watering. "Cann... can we eat? Or do you have to eat first? I mean.. whose the leader? Cause we can't eat yet.. And..."

"Not at all!" Sparrowpaw replied, sitting next to her cousin. "But...what's a sah-lad, and a chicken, and a pie, and a gra-vee, and a carr-ots?" She frowned, testing out the words on her tongue, confused beyond belief as she stared at the 'table' in front of her. The round white things looked like flat stones, and the shiny things next to them looked like pointy sticks, except for one of them. The clear thing looked like a hard version of a leaf or hollow rock, perfect for storing water.

"Yeah? What's a sah-la-d? And... why is there air coming out of the food?" Tigerpaw stared at the food. Awkwardly, he grabbed a handful of the carr-ots and put them in his mouth to chew it. They were crunchy and weird tasting. Nothing like the food in the forest. He spat them out. "Ew." Tigerpaw muttered under his breath. "That's weird. Luke, how can you like these foods?"
Luke found himself laughing good heartedly at all the apprentice's questions. "Well, you could consider carrots, salads and potatoes to be herbs. Though these dont have healing properties. As a human you are an omnivore, or in lay man's terms, we eat animals and plants. It helps us grow and live. Chickens are like large fat sparrows." With that Luke picked up a fork and began to eat his meal.
Hawkpaw watched how Luke ate and couldnt understand why he would waste his time using a stick to eat. He turned to the food in front of him and glared at the round orange objects. They didnt smell all too good. The only think that looked slightly appetizing was the meat on his plate. It wasnt pink or red like nomral meat. It was white and steaming. Tenteivly he leaned foward and used only his mouth to pick at the food. He found it incredibily hard to not get his whole face dirty in the process. He had to admit though, the warm food that slid down his throat tasted fantastic. As he pulled away his face was covered in potatoes and chicken. The boy shook his head and then licked the back of his human paw before drawing it over his face to clear the food there.
Tigerpaw wrinkled his nose and didn't seem to like the 'herbs' Luke described. The only thing that interested him... was the meat. Sure, he would eat some carr-ots and po-tay-toes if he had to, but the meat smelled the best. It smelled the most like a mouse. Slowly, he took a small bite out of the meat. Human teeth were awfully hard to rip off meat in, so he found himself using his human paw to help him. When he was still a ThunderClan cat, tearing off the meat was easy-schmezy. As a human, it was not. We chewed slowly and then swallowed. Not that bad, although it was steaming hot. "Luke," Tigerpaw said. "Why is the meat so hot?"
