Lucy listened to the dogs savage growls, her eyes wide. Why would any dog want to compete in such savagery? She felt so lost here like she was drowning. She didn't know who were the baddies anymore....

ic: Arina growled in her cage. She lookedover to Lucy with worried eyes. "They didn't hurt you again?" she asked. Dakota and Apollo-she looked into the ring. Gizmohad trippedher! She gave a barkand roughly scratched at her cagedoor.She wouldn't let himuse her! She managed to damage tolock and burst out snarlingandleapt at Gizmo. "YOUSWINE!" she cried. She bit his tail and flung himinto the ring."YOU CHEAT!" Spectre was watchingin the side lines. "ARINA!" he called.She didn't care to be killed. She wasn'tgoingto let himuse Dakota, even with her scornfull words still stinging.

Apollo growled and leaped at Arina. He shoved her away. "Stay back!" he snarled. Then he leaned in close. "I'll explain later, but I have to do this to earn their trust so we can get you out of here," he whispered before pushing her away again. All the anger was fake. He just wanted to protect their chances at escaping.

IC: Dakota struggled underneath the mastiff's paws gasping for breath. She was in shock when she felt something trip her and she was suddenly on the ground. Kicking with all her might she felt her head feel lighter and her eyes started to blacken. "No!" She barked and got her back paw stuck in the mastiff's neck somehow. He jumped back and barked in surprise as blood dripped from his neck. Dakota stood up and shook but stood her ground. "Im done with you." She growled and lept at him when he was distracted. Biting at his neck she bit at the spot he was bleeding at and shook furiously. The mastiff howled and started to gargle as blood filled his throat. Letting go Dakota stepped bacl and growled her mouth covered in blood and her legs weak. The mastiff looked ta her drowsily and made one final attempt to move but dropped to the ground dead. Dakota gave a small grin and barked in triumph again. This time she really was the winner. Turning to the leader she gave a little wink and smiled. "I win. For real this time."

Apollo looked back and saw three dogs, dead or unconscious on the floor, with Dakota standing proudly in the middle of the ring. Apollo looked at Arina. "It's okay now," he assured, and padded up to meet Dakota.

Arina gave a snarle as some dogs came over to put her back in that cage. NO WAY did she want tolisten. She barked, but backed off. "Cheater!" she snarled at the leqader. How dare he! She was forced into a stronger cage so she couldn't get out. It was next to Lucy's. She sat down and let tears fall. "I will find a way to get you out." She toldLucy. And that WAS a promise.

The leader studied Darkota. She was more powerful than he had thought. He plastered a fake smile on his face. "I am a dog of my word you will become a officier but your other two friends are still to prove themselves."

Lucy felt he pity for Darkota fade away. She'd just been played in that dogs quest for power. She wanted to rip this dog apart yet barley had the energy to stand, She shook he rhead. "Liar." She simply growled at Darkota. "Empty promises..."
