ic:;Jake felt her squeeze his hand. His stomache dropped, and not because of the hand squeeze. Jake Pulled out the root, flinching as it cried. He dropped it rather unceremoniously into the new pot and dropped dirt on it, trying as best he could to plant it without touching it again. With a breath of releaf, he showed his work to Sylvia. It was sloppy, but it was done.

Sylvia resisted the urge to grab the root when he dropped it carelessly into the pot. When he was done she took it from him gently and place it down on the table. "Jake, if you were this root would you want me to just drop you into the hard pot and throw dirt on you?" she asked gently spreading the dirt around the baby. Her long fingers seemed to dance across the surface of the soil as she fixed it up. "I don't believe I would like that too much. Did you know they have feelings? When they get older, they are even move into the same pot together and can get married and they love. They may be a little strange looking to us but I bet we are strange looking to them too. They depend on us and it's our job to take care of them." When she was done she looked up at him she wasn't mad at him or disappointed. "I don't mean to lecture you but I wanted you to know." she said looking slightly embarrased that she had went on about the Mandrake Root to somebody who obviously could care less.

Jake watched her as she worked. Sylvia was such a gentle girl. She cared so much for these plants. He grew embarassed as he listened. Yeah, he should have been more careful. But those things scared him! His friend was right though, they had feelings too. These plants were more alive than plants back in his old world. "I'm sorry, I just still don't get alot of things in this world." He frowned thoughtfully.

The last thing Slyvia expected him to do was apologize. "It's fine, there are alot of people have been here since they were old enough are scared to death of these creatures." she told him and taking the pot over to Sprout so she could put him away safely. Grabbing a towel from Sprout she wiped off her hands and then handed it to Jake. "Luna's going to study in the library after this period so I'll have some free time if your not busy we could go hang out." she suggested.

Seth waited for Alexandria to reply but soon sighed. "You know what?" he asked. "Let's just spend the time on my bed in the boy's dormitory. Since, you know, girls are allowed into our place." Without waiting for her reply, he took her hand and led her back to the Gryffindor common room. Seth knew Alexandria would agree, she wanted him to choose their afternoon. And they didn't have much time. Lunch was coming around the corner, then the fifth years had to head off to Charms class.
