"Well we can't have you catching up with me can we?" she said laughing and pumping her legs as fast as she could. The trees flew past her as she ran faster and then she busted out of trees and stopped. Looking around she saw all the trees were cut down and there were monsters on the other side of the clearing. Her jaw dropped and she was shaking softly as she looked at the distruction before her. It was so terrible she wanted to cry as she looked on and then one of the humans screamed and went to get a weapon but she couldn't move.

Dempsey pumped his legs faster trying to push himself forward so he could catch up. Jumping over a bush he almost tackled into Cali but ddged her before he fell. "Ow." He complained as he stood up and shook his pelt. He loooked around and saw the trees were cut down and everything seemed empty except the monsters. "So this is what Guntur was talking about.." he barked quietly and turned his head quickly when a shot sounded in the sky. A human was holding something in his hand that was ponted to the sky. It scared Dempsey and he pushed into Cali wondering what was happening. "We have to leave." He whispered as the human lowered the shiny thing to point at them. "N-Now."
Cali didn't do anything just stared at the human and his gun. Even after the shot was fired she couldn't move something was holding her to that spot. No matter how much she wanted to move she couldn't. Eventually she started to move slowly when Dempsey started pushing her towards the forest. She was moving at a sluggish pace at first but then she became to speed up to a jog.

Dempsey turned around and pushed Cali more as the human aimed at them. Another shot sounded and Dempsey felt the tip of his ear burn. He yiped in surprise and pushed Cali one more time before running into the forest again. His ear began bleeding and he spun in circles trying to cool it off. Although they werent safe yet he stopped to look and see if Cali had followed.
Cali pushed him on this time and then kept running. She felt tears in her eyes as she the effect of everything hit her and she couldn't hold the tears back. She was no longer angry at Dempsey but angry at the humans. The wolf wanted them to feel her pain and she would get that revenge before this was all over with. "Come on Dempsey!" she pleaded when he started falling behind.

Dempsey heard another gun shot behind him that made him forget about his ear. He raced after Cali going faster then he ever thought he would. His eyes closed at times trying to figure out what just happened. DDarting by trees he kept running until he knew they were far enough that the human wouldnt come. As he looked back he didnt hear a gunshot or see the human. He sighed in relief and dropped to the floor catching his breath. His ear stung even more and it bled.
Cali was shaking and scared and when she looked at Dempsey she felt like her heart had fallen into her stomache. She felt the tears stinging her eyes again and she walked over to him licking his ear gently getting the blood off the best she could. Pausing she said "This is all my fault. I should never have suggested we go find the patrol. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to for this to happen. I didn't know." she rambled in a shaky voice.

Dempsey tried not to flinch as cali licked his ear. "D-dont worry. It's not your fault. I would have suggested we go anyway." He barked and sat up. "Its alright. It's probably just a scratch." He smiled to make her feel better. His ear had been cut at the tip in half, but luckily not all the way, only like an inch, but it bled like it didnt. He looked at Cali and nodded trying to reasure her.
Cali looked at him and his words didn't really help as far as reassurance went. She put her head on his shoulder in a wolf-like embrace. "Dempsey, I feel terrible about this. First I got mad at you and then I get part of your ear blown off. I'm a terrible friend and I understand why you didn't want to tell me anything." she said quietly into his fur.

Dempsey laid his chin slowly on Cali's head and sighed when he placed it on her. "That's the reason why I didn't tell you. Because your my friend..." He murmered and felt his ear sting but he blinked and ignored it. That sentence he had said just made him want to tell her but he couldnt say it. "Cali. I..." He stoped and closed his eyes. "I dont think your a terrible friend.." He changed his words around and sighed.
