"Well I know that," She mumbled, running her fingers through the top of her hair. She found a seat between a girl and a guy, heading over quickly. She entangled her fingers under her desk, feeling awkward without a book, or paper and pencil. Every other student had stuff on their desk but her. She looked up to the board, remembering her two semesters of Spanish I and II at her old school. Ridgepoint had decided her Spanish there wasn't as good as the one here, so they were making her take it over. Begrudgingly, she'd accepted. Actually, she didn't really care about her classes. Everything still felt like a dream to her after her mother's death.

Patch saw the girl walk in and he smiled at her. "There's a seat right here," she said and pointing to the desk infront of him. He watched her as she looked around the room and he wished she would let him fix her hair and play with it but that might seem a little creepy so he just gave her the signature smile and waited for her to make her move. As she sat in front of him he held out his hand "I'm Patch, what's your name?" he asked her quietly hoping they wouldn't get yelled at by the teacher.

"Well get there if its where we want to be and if not, well then I guess we never really lost anything in the first place."
Ellie turned slightly around, seeing a friendly smile behind her. She grasped his hand and shook it. "Hey Patch, I'm Ellie." She smiled back, though it wasn't genuine. She had always had her mother's acting skills, nobody could have told that it was fake. Some part of her hoped that he'd be a friend for her. Another part, a much larger part, wished that she could just have walked around the day silently, contemplating what to do with her life now. She'd spent hours lingering on that question, but she'd never come up with an answer. She'd always wanted to be a singer, but she didn't feel like singing anymore.

"You have really pretty hands and fingers. You wouldn't happen to play piano would you?" he asked her as she slid her hand out of his. Patch's brown eyes sparkled at Ellie as he waited for a reply. Spanish was an easy subject for him so he didn't really feel the need to pay attention to the teacher at the moment. He tilted his head to the side and propped it up on his hand.

Ellie was surprised. She'd never been complimented on something like that. "Thank you," She smiled, eyes sparkling behind her glasses, "I do play a little." She nodded, thinking of her piano at home. She suddenly wanted to run her fingers against the ivory keys. "How about you, do you play anything?" She smiled, remembering to keep her voice down. In the back of her head, she knew it would be disrespectful to speak while Mr. M was teaching, but she knew her stuff. And judging by Patch's notes next to him, he did as well.

"I would be sad if you didn't put those fingers to good use. I play guitar but I wish I could play piano." Patch said flipping over his free hand. It wasn't as soft and smooth as it used to be he had the hands of a guitarist and no matter how much lotion he used they just weren't as soft as say, Ellie's were. "Is that all you can do? Are you a double threat?" he asked softly. He wondered if she could sing and play like he could. It was very dificult sometimes to sing and play but he managed pretty well.

Ellie smiled when he talked about playing the guitar. She'd tried it once, but couldn't put down the right ammount of pressure to make good, full notes. "I took lessons," She admitted, looking over her fingers. They were little and soft compared to his.
She blushed when he asked if she was a double threat. "Triple, however you see it," She told him nervously, "I sing, dance, act, piano, paint," Ellie listed her hobbies. Each one she'd taken classes for. "My mum has to sign me up for everything." She rolled her eyes. With a pang, she realised she was talking about her mother in the present sense. She didn't bother to correct herself.

"Well, well." Patch's smile got wider as she listened her hobbies. "You're mom seems like a brilliant lady. Better than my mom that's," he said and then bit his tongue. What was he doing talking about his parents like that? Nobody knew the story of his past or why he showed up a few years ago and he'd like to keep it that way. "I can sing and play and doodle but that's about it," He gave a small laugh trying to cover up his accidental slip.

Tyler heard Patch and some new girl having conversation about...something. He turned off his ipod and dropped it to the bottom of his bag before sitting up again in his chair. He opened a notebook and grabbed a pencil and started taking notes, like Patch was doing. He just hoped his pencil didn't break. He didn't want to draw any attention to himself at all at the moment.

Dave looked around the room, not taking any notes at all and just examined everyone for a moment. He saw Tyler drop something at the bottom of his bookpack and he couldnt help but laugh alittle. "I saw that." He mumbled and leaned back on his chair feeling bored already. Putting his feet up on the chair in front of him he relaxed himself in the chair and hoped this class would end quickly.
