IC: Devon sat at the edge of the camp with a blanket hanging on his shoulders and sword laying across his lap. He flinched when a owl began hooting in the tree to his left. The other soldeir on watch chuckled and continued patrolling past the sleeping bodies. The howls of a hunting pack of wyverons could be heard off in the distance. They sounded so far away but Devon worried they may be heading towards them. The second night watch paused to listen to them for a second before moving on.
IC: A barat dashed from the bushes it had been hiding in upon hearing the hunting howls of the wyverons. A giant bat-like creature snapped at the rodent, barely missing its naked, worm-like tail as it darted by the tree the beast hung from.
"Darn whelps," the beast growled as it pulled itself back into the tree. "Thought I told them to hang back."
It turned its armored, eyeless head towards the wyverons.
"How am I supposed to catch anything will all that racket," it groaned as it launched itself form the tree and glided away from the blood thirsty reptiles.
IC: From the cover of several bushes and trees, Darus Krinul watched the campsite. The sounds of the approaching wyevrons were growing steadily louder; Prince Darulyx had guessed that they were hunting for food, a hypothesis that Darus found difficult to disagree with due to his past experiences with the beasts. As such, they had quickly set up a trap for the dragons -- two soldiers waited around the campfire, nearest the groups food supplies, while the others waited in the shadows, waiting to ambush the wyverons once they arrived. Darus was confident that the plan would work.
Seconds passed; then the first sign of the wyverons' arrival could be seen, as they brushed through the forest with ease. Darus didn't bother counting the number of dragons -- it didn't matter to him how many opponents there were, as he would be sure to kill them all before any damage could be done, anway. He looked at the waiting soldiers, making eye contact with on. Another wyveron passed the line.
He nodded, and then leaped, arm blade glinting in the light of the campfire. The others followed, some shouting roars of challenge. Darus swung his blade, aiming at the wyveron's wing, only to be interrupted mid-swing by a strike from a second. He was knocked to the side, rolling back onto his feet as soon as he touched ground.
"Nice hit," he growled. "But you ain't the first to land one."
Ailexia ran bow and arrow in her hand. She spotted an eagle soring above. She shot an arrow up at it then another both at the sides of its wings. The eagle saw this and put his wings under him. He fell and was to put his wings up but the arrows kept coming. He thought he was going to die but he was caught in rough hands. "Go spy on the thorons." Ailexia growled at him. The eagle nodded and flew off.

OOC: Woodfall, where are you and how can this eagle understand you?
IC: A sharp pain shot up Dargun's are as he narrowly avoided getting his sliced clean off. The wyveron he was already fighting thrust forward with its sword but Dargun swiftly deflected it.
"My prince!" he called out into the chaos.
He spotted the pale thoron yanking his blade free of a wyveron's throat while driving a spear into the gut of another. He glanced towards Dargun for a brief second to show he was listening but immediatle engaged in battle with another of the dragons.
"There's a bit too many of them, don't you think?"
Darulyx laughed as he spun one wyveron around and used him as a meatshield to protect him from an oncoming spear thrust.
"We're about even in numbers, Dargun. Do you not think we can defeat these beasts on even terms?"
Even?! Dargun thought. You're worth twenty of them!
Dargun parried another sword blow and glanced around quickly. Darulyx was right, for every thoron there was a wyveron except for Darulyx. But when looked at the prince again he saw another body laying atop the others and one wyveron depserately fighting off the would be fatal blows from the prince's sword. The wyveron that had tried to take his arm had long since been picked up by another thoron.
Why are we even bothering to fight when you can single handedly kill them all yourself. Dargun thought as Darulyx slid his blade under the wyveron's breast plate.
IC: Seiryuu watched the battle from the shadows. His two wyveron body gaurds whined as they watched comrades die before them.
Should've let them join the fight, he thought as he watched the demon thoron finish its last opponent. They wouldn't have been any help if that thing tried to attack me.
The wyveron elite turned away from the battle and began to walk away.
I found what you were seeking, Sardonix. The thicker scaled wyveron thought grimly. But I'm not quite sure of what it is you want me to do.
OOC: Still not getting how the eagle understands you. You can speak sharply to a dog, but unless it knows the command or you're speaking dog, it won't obey. Plus, for you to be "away" in the middle of the night doesn't seem to like a good idea. You're in a forest full of deadly monsters that want to kill and most likely eat you.
IC: Devon listened to the distant howls of the wyverons die away. Feeling relieved that they weren't coming for them, Devon let out a sigh of relief. Soon it was quiet again. Devon waited to hear the cricket chirps and owl hoots, but they never came. He looked around and found the other night watch soldier standing still, his head c(ocked.
It was now eerily quiet.
The other soldier nudged the squad leader with his boot. The scarred veteran sat up and rubbed his eyes. Devon could hear them whispering, but couldn't pick out what they were saying. The night watch soldier was soon moving around the camp, waking everyone up. Devon stood up to help him and then froze.
A pair of flowing yellow green eyes glared at him from the darkness. Devon drew his sword and backed up, tripping over his own feet in the process. The squad leader and another soldier rushed over towards him. There was a low growl and then the eyes vanished.
"Just an In' Feng," the squad leader said, putting his sword back.
"Is that why everything's gone quiet?" a soldier asked.
"Not sure, but the sun will be rising soon. We'd better pack up now."
OOC: Sorry; ended up being at my mom's house an extra two nights. That and school.
IC: Both sides were locked in combat; however, despite the advantage of numbers, it was clear to Darus that he and his fellow Thorons had the upperhand. Another slash from his blade cut through the wing of one of the wyverons he was fighting; a well placed kick broke through the spear of the second, only for his blade to stab through a weak point in that one's armor.
The wyveron with the injrued wing snarled, hissing something that Darus barely made out as "Sssscum!" before aiming a slash at his midsection. Darus jumped back, an insane smile upon his face. The wyveron continued to relentlessly attack, forcing the Thoron to back away until he hit a tree. As the wyveron aimed another thrust at him, he moved to the side, grabbing the shaft of the spear and slamming the bladed end into the tree. The wyveron barely had time to register this before he found that his head had been cleaved from his shoulders.
Darus chuckled, wiping the beast's blood from his blade ebfore turning back to the camp. Only three remained; as it happened, all three were currently taking on the prince,, who, judging from the small ring of Thorons around him, had ordered the others to stay back.
Heh; of course, Darus thought, moving over to join the crowd of Thorons watching the fight, not even paying attention to the possibility of reinforcements.
IC: Dargun shook his head when the thorons cheered as Darulyx finished off the last of the wyverons. The prince grinned and raised his arms above his head in victory. Dargun approached him with a sigh.
"Perhaps you should act more like a leader and show off a little less."
Darulyx chuckled. "There's nothing wrong with showing off. Besides, it helps keep their morale up."
The young pale thoron patted the older olive green thorons shoulder and headed off to join the others. Dargun sighed and shrugged his shoulders before he following after his prince.
IC: The sun was just starting to peek over horizon. The bat-like creature felt the heat of the first rays on the thin membrane of its wings. It turned and angled itself towards the rising sun...and then came to sudden stop. Its ears rotated backwards and the beast turned around.
Perhaps I'm hearing things, it thought as it listened intently.
Barely audible over the flapping of its great wings was a deep thumping noise, almost like a heart beat. The bat dived and landed in a tall evergreen where it continued to listen.
Without the constant flapping of its wings, the beast could now clearly hear two thumps in quick succession.
What is a Brutega doing this far out? The bat c(ocked its head.
Quite a troubling thought... I should warn Seiryuu.
An with that, the bat launched itself form the tree and flew back towards where it had been hunting earlier. Just beyond where the wyverons had battled with the thorons.
Ooc: Yes I am And about the bat is it the eagle he's seeing? Ic: Ailexia ran back to camp her bow behind her. She hadn't seen sight of the eagle. Had he been killed by the Thorons? She sighed and and truged along shooting arrows at soft rocks to practice her archery. She was rather good but Thorons who were fast and had slick scaley armored skin. She saw camp only about a quarter mile away. She ran twoards it and suddenly stopped in her tracks. She saw a sparkling in a tiny hole. She causiusly but her hand in and tugged bakc to see what was in her hand. Diamonds! Usually she didn't really care about diamonds, only for trade, but there usually wasn't anything good for trade. But this was a perfect weapon. It was so hard, it could at least pierce a Thoron! Maybe even more then pierce! Suddenly a snake surged at her. She pulled her hand back fast and shot an arrow at it. She put the snake and many other diamonds in her sack and ran to camp gleeful at the luck she had.
