ic; "I'm going to get the surgery done," replied Valerie stoutly, deciding to explain her reasoning. "If I don't get the surgery done, I'm no help. If I die in the surgery, I'm not help. If I live, I can fight. There's not much else to it. It needs to be done." Not waiting for Ghost Town to reply, she turned to the men with a challenge in her eyes. "Let's get this over with. I promise I won't give you as much problems as him. However..." Smirking slightly, she added, "Once you're done, seal me up fast or you might find yourself unconscious on the floor." Looking to the others, she smiled. Flicking her wrist in a gesture of, I'll be fine, she sauntered off easily.
ooc; because i'm a little lazy, i'm going to go through the surgery pretty quickly and make it so there's little to no complications with her for some reason. maybe because she's special... ''OTL i don't know. i should take a nap...
ic; The events passed in a blur - getting undressed, putting on the hospital gown, cold - cold, cold, cold pressed up against her back. The mask up to her face - "count to" - and then darkness. Something she had become close to. So instead of fighting it off, she danced in it, relishing the cold feeling that only spread through her back, and frowning as it became warmer and warmer until her body was the same temperature. and she lost feeling in her legs then her arms. On and off, a pricking sensation would start in her limbs. Snippets of distant voices connected with her head - "she's turning blue" "so cold" "hypothermia" "never not her" "why" "cold" - and she felt the urge to console them and explain, no, I'm fine, let me be. The feeling of warm hands connected with her dancing limbs, making her movements sketchy and unfocused.
"Miss Soot. Wake up," murmured a man, gently placing a warm hand on her frigid forehead. In an instant she was up. Wobbly but standing - "you're in so shape for that lay back down you're going to hurt yourself" - in a crouching position. Clutching the gown covering her body, she paused for a second, feeling a long shiver run through her body. She was so cold. Back screaming in protest, she ran a hand through her hair.
"It was successful."
"Without a hitch."
"Perfect."
All Valerie could do was look away.

William sat in the waiting room where the others had been during his surgery. It had been a good hour since Dex had sauntered away and it only made the man more and more nervous as time passed. What if they messed up? What if she slipped away like he did? Could he stand being one of only two left? The man tossed a look at Shepard. Well, it wasn't that bad, he supposed. Perhaps he'd get killed on the next mission. That'd leave Shepard all alone... with Emili of course but she wasn't really like them. William lifted a brow as he looked from the Lieutenant to the AI. For some reason, Shepard seemed to be getting ever so closer to the AI. This made William frown. Should he be worried? It was understandable since Shepard was the tech expert and Emili was nothing tech... but those looks William had managed to see the younger man pass toward the AI... That wasn't exactly the kind of look you gave your new computer or holo-interface. It was one you gave another human. William waved away his strange thoughts turned to look at the double doors that led to the recovery rooms. No one was let back there until they were sure that the patient was alright for visitors. Hopefully Dex would be okay soon. William's hands clenched and his jaw set. You'd better come out of there alive... I'll bring you back and then kill you myself otherwise.
After changing back into her outfit and spending twenty minutes warming up on suggestion of the doctors, Valerie was led into the recovery room. "Thank you," she nodded solemnly, watching as the doctors left, chatting excitedly. Folding her hands over her stomach, she laid on the bed and leaned her head back to look at the ceiling, fighting off an on-coming yawn. Her back still ached from the cool table and as she closed her eyes, she relished in the warm now flowing through her body. She was bit worse for the wear, extremely pale and her breathing was slow, but other than that Valerie felt better.

Daniel gave a nudge with his elbow into Ghost Town's side. "Hey, she'll be fine." Daniel tried to encourage. Then he looked at his own hands. They were shaking. He was afraid. Daniel couldn't help but be afraid. So many thoughts ran through his head. He had recovered a sense of fear once more at the thought that he could die from this. He was confedant before, but now that it was going to be his turn, a sense of dread warmed over him, making Daniel feel cold. His heart beat faster as questions emerged from his thoughts. What if he did die? He escaped death once before when he was younger, but was it all just a set up to be one of Hnery's pawns? Or was it fate? And was his own fate going to end as soon as they cut him open? If he didn't go through with his, if he turned around and left, he would die anyway. But what if he just was never made? What if the Patriot Squad never had a Daniel Leviticus? If he didn't exsist then he probably would have saved the squad a lot of dificulty. But then he thought of Emili. Her humanized form's face intruded his thoughts, making him fear death even more. He would never be able to say goodbye if he did die, not to Emili, not to Dex, not to Ghost Town. All these thoughts swirled in his mind, making him sick. They were so overwhelming, he didn't even notice that he screamed out to the top of his lungs, "I don't know!"
OOC; Shepard has problems.

William jumped at Shepard's exclamation, his brown eyes widened at the sudden outburst. The Commander had been deep in thought and the loud noise that was Shepard's excuse for a voice made him grab for his gun, however he wasn't wearing his handy utility belt so his magnums weren't there. Dang... Well Shepard would have to wait for a painful death later for scaring the man out of his skin. He turned from the younger man, a frustrated look on his face and headed for the recovery room. A nurse quickly came toward him. "Im sorry sir, you can't go in yet," she said weakly. "Why, she's not done yet?" he lifted a brow. "She is..." the nurse murmured, "But the needs her rest." William frowned, "I think it'll be alright." With that he pushed in to the recovery room and went to locate Dex.
Emili had watched the exchange between Ghost Town and Shepard. She too had been startled by the Lieutenant's outburst. Luckily she didn't have a heart so it couldn't stop in her chest from a heart attack. She lifted her brow as the human, his stance tense and scared. She walked over slowly before placing a hand gently on his should. "What do you not know Lieutenant? I have databanks filled with knowledge," she asked innocently, "I am programmed to answer any and all question that I can answers to in my memory."
Daniel lifted his head and looked into Emili's bright blue eyes, with his own dark green ones. His pupils were so small, they almost didn't look visible. Fear made his face pale. He had never once until now showed that he was afraid. From the moment he had met everyone, he had remained a stone wall and slightly arrogant. But suddenly all that vanished. His breath was slightly quivering, but soon he calmed down. His eyes still clung to a look of dread, but less now than they were earlier. His face softened as he continued to gaze at Emili. A weak chuckle emmited from his throat at her statement, almost as if he was slightly insane, but also like a startled child. "I'm sorry Emili, I was just lost in thought. Something I shouldn't do, like dreaming." He said, with slight dark humor that he would only understand.
Emili frowned softly, her human face showing concern, "Are you sure Lieutenant? I can still answer you questions if you need them." She pulled away softly and stood next to the man. He didn't look as scared as before but the AI knew that he was still fearful. Of what, she wasn't exactly sure. She still had such a hard time reading these fleshy creatures' faces. She glanced to the doorway that Ghost Town had just disappeared in to. She thought she should follow her commander for a moment, but after thinking about she decided not to. He and Dex might need to talk, then again they might just end up wanting to tear each other's heads off again. She tossed a sideways look at Shepard. Plus, the Lieutenant needed someone right now, she fit the bill as far as sentient life was concerned.
Daniel sighed, then looked over to Emili, "There is one question." He began. "Do you remember when I first asked if you had an understanding of a human's thoughts, the way a human thinks?" He remembered, when he sat in the engine room. Emili didn't have a body at that point. "You said that you didn't have a very good understanding. But that was back then, and this is now." He looked down at his feet for a moment, then returned his gaze back to Emili. "I am asking that very same question once again."
Hearing Ghost Town start stomping around the recovery rooms and the fact that Valerie didn't know who it really was sent her on edge Sitting up too fast, she clutched her head, caught in a dizzy spell. Not only that, but she wasn't one to go romping around like Ghost Town right after a surgery. She felt really light headed and paired with the hypothermia, she wasn't feeling too well. Coughing once, twice, she watched as Ghost Town walking into her room. In a reply, she hissed, "Stop romping around like a five-year-old and try stepping lightly."

William was a bit startled at Dex's voice but when he saw her a relieved smile spread on his face. He didn't retort like he usually would. Instead her walked toward her bed and stopped at the end. He crossed his arms over his chest and tilted the head to the side. "You look terrible. Not much better than usual," he snickered softly but playfully. Perhaps she wasn't in the mood for his jest but he was just glad that she hadn't had an experience like him. He did notice that she looked quite pale. He frowned and reached his hand forward, touching her arm. His warm hand pressed again her ice cold skin. His eyes widened in surprise. He stepped closer and exclaimed, "You're freezing!" He turned to get a nurse but none was around. He sighed and turned back to her, his face having a no-nonsense look, "You're putting my coat on now. I don't care if you think it smells like me." He quickly shrugged his jacket off and held it out to her. "Take it."
