Yeah, so... Awhile back I mentioned about possibly starting a mech RP. And here we are! You can thank Talonpaw for coming up with the overall plot, background information and what not. So props to him for making this RP a reality. Just a quick side note, the mechs I've put up on my art topic will NOT be used in this RP. We came up with new ones and those pictures will be up soonish. In the mean time, you'll just have to roll with the descriptions I'll put up. More sidenotes! Seeing how active the site currently is, we've only set up for about five people to join because really that's about the number of people who get on right now. XD But! We are prepared to expand that limit if it is neccessary. We are also allowing for people to have ONE extra character if they would like/if they can handle it. This bonus character can act as your navigator/operator or whatever you want to call them. Bascially they'll be a support character. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy our RP here's to hoping it doesn't crash and burn like Zarkain. EFacers The year is 2267 and world has reached a new era in its evolution. The threat of nuclear war has diminished, leading to the rise of a number of powerful conventional militaries. Bayonite, a miracle power source that was discovered from expeditions to Eros, and a massive rise of electric vehicles in the late 2000s lead to an abolishment of oil dependency among First World nations and a sudden drop in oil prices worldwide. This precipitated what is known as the Fusion War, the Middle-East oil economy collapsed along with several of regimes who were thriving on the oil empires of the world. The power vacuums left by the fallen regimes dragged in the EU, Russian and American forces as they attempted to exert order in the rapidly deteriorating Middle East and Africa situation. The war established both the EU and the newly formed Russian Republic as equal powers to American strength, driving a reordering of world power, breaking the world into four major domains. In 2157, the rise of the South American Union further changed the landscape of world power, placing a unified South and Central America right along the American borders. Ten years later the United States of North America incorporated Canada, Mexico and Greenland into the American power block intensifying the strain on US-China relations. In 2185, in response to the expansion of the Republic of China through North Korea and much of Asia , the USNA annexed Japan and South Korea and was restructured into Greater North America. The same year saw the development of the baynoid drives, small but high-yield engines that were capable of power anything from sports cars to fighters. Tension in the world drove the advancement of new weapons technologies using this new reactor. In 2196, Australia formed the Pacific League, a nation of island states that unified much of the remaining world. The next sixty years were a time of marked and rapid technological advances in the six World Powers and the further decline of territory outside any of the major nations. In 2255 tensions between the GNA and the Republic of China hit a peak when the RoC attempted to forcefully annex Taiwan, a free nation closely tied in with GNA. Taiwanese leaders called on the GNA for support, rapidly ratifying a proposal which made it a member nation of the GNA. In response, GNA forces out of Japan moved rapidly to defend Taiwan while Hokkaido and Korean forces moved on North Korea. RoC forces, not anticipating GNA intervention were unprepared when the Taiwanese defenders were bolstered by a GNA battle group out of Okinawa. The RoC lost its forces attacking Taiwan and control of the East China Sea. In response to the opening of war, the EU, Pacific League, South American Union and Russian Republic attempted to bring both nations to a cease fire but tensions between those four nations resulted in a collapse of diplomatic communication before anything could be done. During the conquest of North Korea, which had remained highly militarized despite both North and South Korea no longer existing as independent nations, the GNA unveiled a new weapon which would dramatically change warfare, the Exo-Frames. Commonly known as Exos, these machines were highly mobile and lethally efficient. Conventional RoC forces found themselves unable to cope with these new machines and their capabilities despite the fact that this was their first time in the field. RoC leaders in North Korea surrendered in a month. The stunning successes of the Exos left the world reeling as the GNA swept everything from North Korea to the old Mongolian border and everything north of Jinzhou all the way to the Russian Republic. Humiliated and defeated the RoC was forced to take harsh terms which ceded everything they'd lost to the GNA and levied economic treaties that highly benefited GNA corporations. At the same time, the GNA was forced to show the Exos defensive merit when the SAU attempted to take the Caribbean Islands from them while the GNA was tied down in the RoC. Conventional GNA forces were able to hold the Caribbean while a large number of Exos lead an assault from Mexico that broke the Line of Belize (the former borders of both Guatemala and Belize)and left SAU forces in disarray. The GNA was able to rapidly seize both the state of Belize and Greater Honduras before they suffered a series of setbacks in Nicaragua. Again the GNA's enemies were humiliated and forced to accept uncompromising terms that gave the GNA an economic edge. By 2256 the GNA had gone into mass production of the Exo-Frames and rapid R&D was going into their systems and every other nation was working hard to develop their own Exo-Frames. Smaller conflict would begin to errupt worldwide as tensions reached a breaking point amongst the World powers and each nation sought to push their advantage of having Exos. This is the state of the world in the last ten years. Major wars have been brewing and smaller conflicts have reached every portion of the world. "Welcome young EFAcer. You have been assigned to T.E.R.A.S Three, a Tactical Exo recon/Assault squad under the command of the GNA 121st Rangers battalion. You will be transferred to the their forward base of operations. You will be piloting the Ulysses MK II, the newest Exo-Frame in the GNA army. The Ulysses MK II is a high-performance Exo-Frame designed specifically for anti-Exo combat. Lieutenant Mercer will be your commanding officer, he is a veteran Exo-Frame pilot and piloted the Ulysses MK I in combat against the RoC. The Mark I, while incredibly effective had a number of flaws that were revealed in the recent brushwars against the EU and RR in Africa and the Middle-East. The Mark II has been designed to address these faults and remain the superior fighting machine in any field of conflict. Congratulations Efacer, you are joining an elite group. Do your country proud EFacer." (Intro and Background written by Talonpaw) Rules: 1. Standard RP rules apply. 2. Godmodding. This will be incredibly difficult to avoid. Pay attention when writing your post. If you think you may godmodding but aren't too sure, just send the post to me in a PM and I'll look it over real quick. If you think someone else is godmodding, just let me know and I'll take a look. Yes our Exos are slightly more advanced than everyone elses, but the difference isn't big. Bullets still do damage and you can't move at mach speed. Don't run down the middle of a battle field and miraculously get through unscaved. If you're going to try to do something like that, take a few hits. Lose an arm, be riddled with holes, add some smoke (you should include all of the above, not jsut one). Do something that makes you look killable. Or don't do it at all. 3. Multiple Characters. Please don't try to control two characters if you're fairly new to RPing. Stick with one and if want another shoot me a PM. And I'll consider letting you get another charcter. It can get confusing with multiple characters, but all in all, it's actually not that hard. +P I've done it. It's actually pretty easy. But still, if you're new, stick with one for now. 4. Meta-gaming. There may be some posts that will show up in the future hinting towards the bad guys plans. These are just heads up for the RPers, but not for the characters. Meaning you guys will read these, know something may be coming, but cannot have your characters react towards it until THEY see what's coming. He is c0cky, bold and sure of his own immortality. He has high expectation for people under his command and while he's more lenient than many older Cos, he also expects to be obeyed on the battlefield. He also retains a sense of personal honor and shares camaraderie with the Efacers who piloted the Ulysses MK I. Personal History: Rowan joined the military at the age of 20, going from being an avid gamer to a grunt after finishing community college. He maintained his gaming skills when he could, showing off in the latest full simulation games that the Exo-frame control scheme would later be designed around. He served his share of combat in Africa and other conflict regions that Joint-GNA-EU-RR coalitions were attempting to stabilize. When the Exo-frame program went into to testing stages, he applied and harasses his XO until he was given a chance to prove himself. Because of his familiarity with the Exo-Frame control schemes, his piloting scores were high enough to earn him a place despite his age. His actions in the Exo war earned him a promotion to Lieutenant and his own command in the new Exo-centric GNA Armed Forces. Other information: He might be a veteran Efacer, but given the new nature of Exo-Frames that doesn't mean nearly as much as you'd think. Username: Dragonstar Name: Skyler Haus ID Number: TE-4768 Age: 24 Gender: Female Nationality: Greater North American Occupation: EFacer Exo-Frame: Ulysses Mk II Appearance: Skyler 5'4" with shoulder length dark hair and blue eyes and a slightly crooked nose. Having played soccer through highschool, it's only natural that she would attain an injury in some way, shape, or form. Fortunately, it's nothing more than a broken nose that's often overlooked. Personality: Skyler is not only unsually calm under pressure, but also very optimistic. She's postive that as long one has the drive to succeed, they can find a way through the worst of situations. Having played goalie for years and been hit by enough high speed soccer balls, Skyler has developed a high tolerance for pain. She's long since abandoned the fear of being hit by just about anything that isn't bigger than a beagle. There is a the concern that this may cause problems while piloting an Exo as missiles and bullets don't care how much pain you believe you can handle. Personal History: As mentioned above, Skyler did play soccer from a young age all the way until her highschool graduation. She played goalie and was great at it, priding herself in not allowing any goals her last year in highschool, a feat she'd been trying accomplish for years. But this did come with a price. While moving to block a ball, she ended up having to use her face to keep it from going in. Her words when her teammates asked if she was okay, "Totally worth it". After graduating highschool, Skyler immediately signed up with the military, hoping to become an EFacer. She'd been interested in becoming one almost instantly after seeing her first Exo. In between school and soccer, she'd dedicated hours upon hours learning what she could about them. Her parents noticed her passion for the Exo-Frames and suggested becoming an engineer specialized in working on Exos. But that wasn't good enough for Skyler. She didn't want to be the one who built the machines, she wanted to be the one who controlled them. Other information: With her extensive knowledge of Exo-Frames, Skyler can perform advanced repairs on an Exo as long as she's properly equipped for the amount of damage. While training to be an Exo pilot, she worked with some engineers and was even asked if she would like to join them. But she remained adamant on being an EFacer. Username: Wyvernclaw. Name: Ethan Gris. ID Number: TE-8873. Age: 23. Gender: Male. Nationality: Greater North American. Occupation: Efacer. Exo-Frame: Ulysses Mk II. Appearance: A causcasian man standing at 5'10", with medium-length dark bown hair and gray-blue eyes. Ethan has a fairly large scar on his right cheek, and the bangs of his hair are constantly styled in a wild, spiky fashion. Personality: Ethan is quiet; if nothing else, that is the one trait that can be applied to him, and can be both beneficial and problematic on the field. A follower more than a leader, Ethan hardly ever questions orders unless he deems them as truly questionable decisions. While he doesn't speak much to most people, those who get to know him may find a warm person underneath his cold exterior. Personal History: Very little is exceptional about Ethan's past. A typical boy living in a North American city somewhere in the north-west, he graduated high school and eventually ended up with the military after being unable to decide on what he wanted to do with his life. He was trained as an Efacer after showing oddly exceptional in simulations, particularly in the area of recon, and has since been assigned to Lt. Mercer's group. Other: Unlike most other Efacers, Ethan has been trained more as a long-distance fighter than a close-range combatant. As a result he spends more time observing the battlefield and finding/utilizing natural weapons that can be used to his team's advantage than actively bringing down opponents. This is not to say, however, that he is not effective when he needs to be up close. Username: Dextrapaw Name: Zendif ID Number: TE-6742 Age: 19 Gender: Male Nationality: Greater North American Occupation: Efacers Exo-Frame: Ulysses Mk II Appearance: brown stright hair, brown eyes, about 6'2" Personality: spontaneous and random at times, but creative and alittle awkward Personal History: a single child who graduated highschool at 17 and not knowing what to do with his life joined the millitary Other information: Flying Ninja Monkeys!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Installed in their ankles is a retractable wheel that they use to propell themselves forward while their "antigravity system" is engaged. Put "antigravity system" in quote becuase really all the thing does is make the Exos light enough to skate over the ground. The Exos feet will still be touching the ground, but they will be able to slide over the earth. The wheel is used to propel the Exo if it cannot gain momentum on the terrain itself. To make things simpler for you, Exos move by skating. Think of an ice skater/ rollerblader when imagining how they move. And one last thing, Exos use Bayonoid packs. These are like battery packs that are installed usually just below the c0ckpit entrance. Once your energy runs out, you must get a new Bayonoid pack. All Exos come equipped with a combat knife that connects to the left side of the hip. Ulysses Mk II: Bipedal dark gray GNA Exo with a "Y" shaped sky blue visor. Single antennae on left side of head along with six vents installed where "mouth" should be. Large rectangular shoulder plates. Head has a rounded triangular shaped bulge jutting slightly out from jsut above visor. Chest contains similar bulge with two small gattling guns installed in and just below bulge. The Ulysses Mk II stands at 4.47 meters and weighs 7.62 tons. Moroz: Bipedal first gen RR Exo. White in color with extra plating colored dark gray. Visor is green and designed to look like eyes. Head has two extra plates installed with a venting system. Thick cord runs from these plates to the "mouth" plate. Shoulders jut outward from the body, extra plating on shoulders. Overall, the Moroz is more boxier than the Ulysses Mk II with a large torso with the entrance to the c0ckpit jutting out from the back, same goes for the front of the chest which also has two extra plates installed on either side. Single, small gattling gun installed on top of chest. Can rotate 90 degrees right and left, and 45 degrees upwards. Height is 4.53 meters and weighs 8.11 tons. Tarantula: Bipedal first gen SAU Exo designed similarly to the Moroz. Was named for its spider like head design. Visor is designed with two large "eyes" and four much smaller "eyes" below and two others of equal size between the larger "eyes". Rumors suggest that the Tarantula was originally a Moroz with a new head or vice versa. Has the same chest and torso design as the Moroz. Gattling gun is installed in the same place as the Moroz. Tarantula has higher mobility than the Moroz as it does not have the extra plating the Moroz has and is green in color. "Eyes" are red. Great White: The unique bipedal, reverse jointed PL Exo. The Great White stands out due to its unsual appearance. It's much shorter than other Exos (4.12 meters) but far heavier. This Exo is hunched over and stands on legs that like those of a bipedal dinosaur. The Great White comes equipped with a large gattling gun on its left arm and a long range rifle on the right. Painted just below its "Y" shaped light blue visor is a shark's mouth. Behind the mouth on either side of its oddly shaped head are smaller gattling guns. Weighing in at 9.21 tons, the Great White uses small tank treads to propel itself instead of wheels. The Great White is known for packing a heavy weaponry and its incredibly low mobility. It is colored gray. St. George: EU's knight based Exo. Silver in color with gold trim, the St. George is the most regal looking of all currently existing Exos. The St. George looks like a giant knight. Its visor is jet black and hidden beneath a mouth guard and portion of the head that juts out on top. Bat like wings sprout fomr either side of the head. Its shoulder plates are diamond shaped shields. The c0ckpit juts out from the back. Two small gattling guns are installed in the chest. Username: Ebonycloud Name: Oliver Anderson ID Number: TE-1863 Age: 22 Gender: Male Nationality: Greater North American Occupation:Efacer Exo-Frame: Ulysses Mk II (Not sure I should use a different one ^^") Appearance: A 6"0' tall man with a good amount of muscles. He has brown almost yellow colored eyes and a scar on his lips. Personality: In general he is ambitious and a bit head strong. He doesn't take orders very well, but he will eventually. He's not exactly easy to get along with, but he improves upon knowing him. Personal History: Oliver was a rising star in football during his freshman year, but quit the team for unknown reasons. He did okay grade wise in high school, but he is no genius. He is more of a man of action and would prefer to talk with his fists. When he graduated high school he took a job as a janitor since that was the only one that would hire him. At about the age of 21, fairly recently, he joined up with the military. His former rising football star shined as he trained to use the Efacers. As it is, he has joined the Efacer corp. and hopes to continue rising up despite having a commanding officer. You are now standing in the middle of a warzone. The Russian Republic and European Union are both highly active in this region, attempting to impose their influence on the region. We are also facing a number of heavily-armed warlords, remants of the Oil Dynasties who crumbled during the Fusion Wars but cling to their memories of greatness. We will be facing a number of knock-off Exos, machines that the Dynasties have put together in an attempt to emulate and defend against the Ulysses MKI that were showcased in the field against RoC and SAU. My name is First Lieutenant Rowan Mercer, I am your commanding officer." Lieutenant Mercer stood before the three young Effacers assembled in the hot desert sun of Epsilon base. He was a well-muscled Caucasian with black hair and startling green eyes. He appeared fairly comfortabled in the desert heat despite being dressed in a black dress uniform. His lieutenat bar shone brightly, as did the TERA ensignia. Behind him loomed the light-brown headquarters building, it was a sturdy-looking three-level building with an array of communication dishes on its roof. "Warrant Officer Haus! Warrant Officer Gris! Sergeant Anderson! Sergeant Sakura!" The four EFacers saluted as the lieutenant barked their names. He opened a box with three shining symbols containned in its velvet. He stepped forward to pin the medal on each of their lapels. "I am presenting to you the TERA Esignia, wear them with pride and congratulations. I look forward to serving with you. You will have a few days to get yourselves acquanited with the base and each other before we begin to sortie, Isuggest you take advantage of it.
