Trisha gave Max a disbelieving look before it turned to exasperation. Great, she was out romping around with a boy she didn't know and a girl she didn't care to get to know. Well, there were worse ways to spend a day. With a sigh Trisha shook her head, "Not a clue. I do know that they usually are outside of cities. Well, depends on the town." The girl kicked her hip out and said with a frown, "Might want to try and find some smoke stacks. I don't know if that's old fashion or not, but it might help." Trisha turned a hesitant look toward Joanna before she said with a frown, "You got any bright ideas?"

Joanna turned to Trisha. "I got better than that, Trish. I know exactly where the plant is. Me and the gang hang out there a lot. It's a good time, you should come." She said with a smile, being honestly genuine. Not that she liked the girl, but she just needed to loosen up. And Jo and her friends were definitely the type of people to hang with if you wanted to loosen up. "Come on, I'll lead ya there." She took the lead, heading downtown where the plant was just outside of that area. Joanna really didn't mind walking, not now anyway. She had, but the tiredness had ebbed away, and she was wide awake, despite getting so little sleep the night before.
After about ten to fifteen minutes of walking, they reached the plant. The gates around it were locked, but Joanna always carried a lock pick in her pocket, as she used it a lot. Never anything too serious, well, guess it depends on ones perspective. She expertly picked the lock and swung the gates open. "Anyone know what we should be looking for?" She asked, tossing a look over her shoulder. "Not sure if their are any workers on a Saturday, could be wrong though."

Trisha shrugged her shoulders, "Your guess is as good as mine." The small group moved toward the plant, all looking around to see if anyone was there. It was a good thing the power was out, if there were any security guards would have seen them through cameras. Then again, if the power were on, they wouldn't be here. Trisha hadn't responded to Joanna invitation earlier. Hanging out around a power plant didn't sound like a good time. No, going somewhere quiet, like the river on the edge of town, sounded better. Somewhere she could just practice her music. This place looked dangerous, not the kind of place you wanted to get caught at.

Max's heart lifted when Joanna offered to take them to the power plant. He didn't speak on the way there. He was mostly just freaked out. When they skirted the edges of downtown where there were more people, each street looked like something out of a horror movie. Cars were lined up in the middle of the streets but weren't moving. A few people were around, but not many, and most of the people around were thugs breaking into cars.
Max couldn't be happier when they reached the power plant. He couldn't be more freaked out, either. The usual buzz of electricity that would usually sound around the power plant wasn't there. It was completely silent. "Maybe we can find some sort of controller. I doubt it, but maybe there's some sort of fusebox here somewhere." He looked to Joanna hopefully, since she was the only one that had been there before.

Trisha looked sideways at Max. Could it really be that simple? A giant fusebox they could just turn back on? "Don't you think we'd need some sort of degree to be an electrician or something? I don't think screwing around with the power plant is a good idea. Plus, why are we even here?" she said with a frown, "What on Earth are we going to be able to do, that an emergency crew can't do?" The girl shook her head, realizing it was a stupid idea to come here. "I think we should head back guys. It's not safe here," she said, turning around.

Max just shrugged and grinned nervously. "Yeah, you're right. It was a dumb idea." When he thought about it, Max felt extremely reluctant to go back to the Knebels'. He didn't want to deal with stupid parents and the even stupider kid. This was a strange time, and for some reason, he didn't want to leave it up to the adults for once. He wanted to get involved and do something. But, if he'd lost his companions, he wasn't doing anything alone.
Just then, Max heard gunshots. They sounded like they were about a block away. He immediately looked to the sound, but he couldn't see anything. Two more shots sounded and he heard a scream. What the heck were people doing? Just because there was some sort of super-blackout, did people really have to panic like this? He jumped behind a small building and motioned for Joanna and Trisha to do the same. Another gunshot rang through the otherwise silent streets. Max felt himself shaking. Okay, so first there's no power. Within two hours people found it necessary to hurt each other. What could be next?

Trisha's eyes went wide with the sounds of gunshots. What the heck was going on? Why were people acting this stupid? The power had only been out for two hours for heavens sake! The girl looked sideways at her companions, "We should get home, now." She glanced to the outside of the fences surrounding the power plant. "If this is how people are acting after just two hours, I don't want to know how they're acting after another one," she said, worry in her voice. For some reason, the girl felt like Joanna would make fun of her right now, but she didn't care. Trisha wasn't one for excitement or danger, especially when that danger included a firearm. "Come on," she said as she headed back the way they came.

Ooc: Sure you can join, Lily! You can jump in pretty much anywhere. Our characters, Max, Joanna, and Trisha, are currently at the town's power plant, but are now heading back.

Ic: Max agreed completely with Trisha that they should make a break for it. But, home wasn't exactly the place that Max wanted to go. He didn't want to be around his adopted family. He wanted to explore and see what had become of his recently calm town. He said nothing as he darted after Trisha, warily looking around for the gunman. No gunshots were heard anymore, but that didn't mean the armed person wasn't still out there. As they headed back, Max saw all of the stopped cars on the roads, but this time, there were more people around. And none of them seemed happy about any of this. Some of them were fighting, verbally or every so often, physically. Max tried to stay out of sight, ducking behind houses or other things that might offer some cover from these crazy people. He was still afraid to go downtown. He couldn't imagine what kind of chaos was breaking out down there.

ooc; my character Tyler is in Boston because i decided to be specific. so he's like roaming the city by himself. ;A; he's gonna try and leave Boston, now... i just don't know how to properly execute it. like... /poofAWILDHORSEAPPEARS. o no.

ic;
Leaning heavily onto his cane, Tyler sighs, running a hand through his short hair. People were truly going crazy. He feels uncomfortable being out in the open like he is. There is nothing he could have that people would want, he thinks. He think that, maybe, this is all a cruel, cruel joke or dream or nightmare and he will wake up in the morning and head to the gym and he will go about his life as it has always been. Part of him knows that it won't. So he straightens himself and continues walking down the street. The names are irrelevant to him. He is the middle of a bustling city that has gone quiet; the exceptions being the sudden gun shots and screams. He keeps his head low and tries his best to appear as inconspicuous as possible. He knows he is the most probably target. He is visibly limping and utilizing a cane. He can run smoothly, but pain overtakes him as soon as he stops. He decides he will only run if completely necessary. The whir of bike tires on pavement brings his eyes up as he watches as the man stops beside him. Recognizing him as a classmate, he nods in greeting.

"Tyler! Thank God. I couldn't find anyone I knew but, hey, man; have you heard the gun shots? This stuff is crazy! I'd get out of the city as soon as possible. If you can find a bike - they're just on the ground all over the place - take it and ride as far as you can and then stop for the night. I don't promote this stuff, but steal water bottles if you need it - food and clothes, too." Moving to continue on, he nods in good bye. "Be careful out there, man. It's getting nasty." He races off, Tyler staring solemnly after him. He had not said a word, merely listened.

A bike. It was a good enough idea and he scowls at the thought that he had not thought of it before. He continues to hobble aimlessly through the streets until he comes across a bike his size and why - why are people leaving bikes when they are the only form of transport now? He tosses the thought to the back of his mind as he hops on the bike, cane across the handlebars of the bike. Others watch him from buildings and he knows that soon they will be racing to the bikes as well. So he begins to pedal, merely hoping to get out of the city. Back roads? Any way to get out of here.

And he doesn't even care how long it takes. He will find others who are as curious as he is and not as focused on themselves.

First, he has to get there.
